Restaurant very recommended on social networks so we wanted to eat there despite the queue outside: and it was without regret! To wait we were treated to pints of beer, the (smiling) waitress came to see us regularly to give us the approximate waiting time. The dishes are of good quality and the price is very affordable: 15€ per person with a main course + dessert + pint. We ate outside and did not get cold (pleases + heating available). I recommend!

All the reviews of this restaurant are accurate . An authentic Hungarian vibe, this small restaurant is extremely popular and you might need to queue for a table. Totally worth it! We tried the goulash and mushroom stew, along with apple cake for dessert. Vegetarian options are not common in traditional Hungarian restaurants but this one has a few to choose from. The staff are friendly and attentive, prices were very reasonable for such a central area.

Kisharang Étkezde offers a perfect bowl of traditional Hungarian goulash. The rich, flavorful broth, tender chunks of beef, and savory mix of spices make this dish an absolute treat. Paired with soft, crusty bread, it’s the ultimate comfort food. The casual, welcoming atmosphere and attentive service add to the overall experience. With generous portions and great value for money, it’s an ideal spot to enjoy classic Hungarian cuisine. Rating: 5/5

the worst place to go for dinner. We called many times to book a table but no one answered. Once we arrived at the restaurant we asked if they had a table for six people, they said yes, so we waited more than 30 minutes. after all this time they wanted to make two people eat inside the restaurant and four outside. unacceptable.

Hungarian dinner, the little place seemed welcoming and typical. The staff initially showed little willingness to accommodate our request to have a table together (we were 4 friends) and seemed very unwell. Dinner was nothing exceptional: the goulash meat was little and a little dry, the other dishes chosen (meat and gnocchi, and crêpes) were quite pleasant. The staff was not very friendly, and at the time of closing (10.00 pm) they invited us to pay the bill without giving us the opportunity to pay everyone their share, and then leave. Restaurant Very overrated by the reviews, I do not recommend it and would not return.

Small and very busy restaurant. Highly recommended reservation. Good food at a fair price.. not like many other plucking Budapest places. It looks like a tavern or tavern. Paper tablecloth. They also make small portions if you want to taste more dishes yourself Highly recommended the gulash soup

Food was okay but the service was partly bad. We were served by the female waitress who works on sundays. She was intrusive and weird. After ordering the dishes she asked if we wanted them all at once. I asked if she could recommend a specific order of my dishes. She then starts guilting me assuming that I wanted my gulasch served before my friend’s first dish was served which I never implied. Then I tell her that that’s not what I meant. She proceeds to roll her eyes and mumble something and all I could make out was “…I don’t know…” while she was shaking her head. We seriously considered leaving the place but didn’t want to be rude by leaving after the chef started cooking the food. Next time she’s all fake smiles with a passive aggressive tone. Unfortunate. The chef and her coworker server were fine.

Bad. The restaurant closes at 22:00 but the kitchen closes at 21:00. After 45 minutes of waiting, they tell us they didn't attend because the kitchen was going to close and they didn't have time to attend. This is at 8:45 a.m. And then the employee still suggests that you have two dinners on the terrace and two in the interior.

The place is small, but the atmosphere inside is truly typical. The decor is quaint and very nice. The staff is nice and really kind. The menu offers various traditional Hungarian dishes, and is translated into several languages. We tried a total of three dishes and a dessert, it was all delicious and we spent around 15 euros each. The quality of the food was exceptional and everything was delicious. There might be a bit of a queue to get in, the place doesn't accept reservations, but it's really worth it!

We came across this place by pure chance, looking at the restaurants near us on the map. If what you are looking for is a place that prepares typical dishes, this is for you. The restaurant is small, with few seats inside. We were welcomed by a very nice gentleman who seated us immediately. The feeling that this place leaves is like being in someone's home who is preparing food just for you. The dishes are amazing; prepare with love and passion, feel the Hungarian tradition. Thanks to the possibility of ordering small portions, we were able to taste more things. Dish that will remain in your heart: their goulash. It warmed us up and regenerated us after a day spent wandering around the city. Prices are low, within everyone's budget. Really beautiful and unique place

We actually went there twice during our trip. The food was delicious and the drinks were very large. You could choose between small and large portions. The tables outside are very close together but that was fine for us personally. We were particularly impressed by the price - you get authentic Hungarian dishes for very little money.

Typical place with Hungarian food, good! Average price, we had 2 soups, 2 dishes with meat and 2 desserts with 2 beers and spent around 27 euros each. Very small place, the only flaw is that the waiter isn't particularly 'on the ball'...but all in all it's worth a visit!

The place is very modest but the food was very good! It serves typical hungarian cuisine. We were in budapest for five days and everyday we ate in restaurants and Kisharang was the best. It is a small restaurant so come early or you will have to wait for a table and they do not take any reservations. Forget the overpriced restaurants and come here for the best goulash, breaded chicken and lemonade. Shout out to the restaurant waiter, you are the best!

Wanted to try the typical Hungarian food and everybody suggested this place. They don’t accept reservation so we had to wait in line for about 30 minutes but it was definitely worth it. They have a big selection of typical food and drinks, both served in a small or normal size. By the time we orders after not even 10 minutes our food was ready, and it was delicious. The meat was tender and very tasty, and the sauces that came with it were even better. The service is fast and the old guy is very friendly. The restaurant is very small so you’ll be sitting next to strangers, we didn’t mind that at all. Really liked how the interiors where furnished. The overall prize was good compared to what we ate. Definitely recommend this restaurant for tourist that want to taste the legit Hungarian cuisine!

We arrived for the first time late in the afternoon and the restaurant was almost empty. The second time we came at peak time and there was a queue. We were lucky and only had to wait a few minutes, but during our stay the road became so long and the staff so stressed that we felt a bit uncomfortable. The waiting people all stood right next to the tables and stared, watching us and other guests. This is not the fault of the staff, they tried to please everyone and were very very friendly. The food was excellent at very reasonable prices. There was only one toilet that unfortunately wasn't very clean. If you come outside of peak times it will be a wonderful experience, otherwise you can expect long waiting times.

Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
