The cafe looked old fashioned and had great atmosphere. We didn't expect the price would be so good and food was equally as good. I tried their cafe latte, which was smooth. On top of it, the cafe is right beside Astoria metro station. Worth a visit.

This was our first time visiting Budapest and we had to have some traditional Hungarian food. So we both ordered their Gulyás (goulash). It was fantastic! The room is very beautiful with Old World charm of days gone bye. The wait staff were very attentive and they took very good care of our needs. We ordered a bottle of their... More

We had to have a quick dinner and the service was prompt, main course delicious and all very good value. The decoration was as described in previous reviews and is quaint, The café wasn't bustling so some may be put off by this, however we weren't.

We went in just for coffee and were astounded how reasonable that was. Maybe it doesn't rival the New York but it is well worth a visit

The Astoria offers a true experience of chic Budapest in its heyday. Lovely attentive service, excellent food and extremely affordable prices. We even went in one afternoon and had a happy hour tea and cake for 800huf, what a bargain

We called in for a light lunch and could not have enjoyed it more! The food was superb, the service perfect and the prices totally reasonable. A little old fashioned, but why else go to The Astoria?

This is the cafe restaurant of the old Danubius Hotel Astoria. A very nice place and still in the original style of the nineteen hundreds. There are seperate section for drinks, dinner and a bar. A very spacious grand cafe with friendly staff, although a bit slow. Nice place to visit as a tourist. You do not see this much... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
