We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon to buy a bottle of wine to go with our leftovers for dinner. We were fortunate to be served and educated by Kristof. He helped us to select a bottle and along the way also gave us tastings and talked about the various wine regions. We had considered a quick trip to the... More

Visited on a Saturday night and whilst it was busy it was easy to get a nice glass of wine. There were plenty to pick from. The bar gives you the wine in a nice glass (500HUF Deposit required). The selection of wine is vast and the bar staff appeared to know what they were talking about. You can take... More

My wife and I had 3 glasses of wine and a glass each of Hungarian sparkling (don't judge us!). We also enjoyed a charcuterie and cheese plate and a prawn and saffron risotto. My credit card statement reads that we paid $30 Canadian for all that. That's crazy...that would get us two glasses of wine in Vancouver. The service was... More

We stopped in to have a glass of wine and a small bite to eat. We ended up having a great dinner, three glasses of wine and one of my favorite meals in Budapest. We left the wine selection to our server (she was great!) with the vague request to try a good "Bulls Blood" wine and a good Tokaji.... More

A great variety of wines, with a story to go. Wines are written on the wall behind the counter, with the price and region indicated as well. You can first try the one you are interested in and then order a glass or bottle. Very nice cheese and meat plates to accompany your choise. Great waiters, nice public, friendly and... More

We dropped by for a glass of wine and ended up staying for hours eating and drinking. We ordered different cheese plates, some ham and home-made bread. Really simple, but SO good. The truffle honey is to die for! And I am still dreaming of the chunks of parmasan...

As this place is very close to our hotel's entrance, we have passed it many times back and forth. Usually the places in this square close at 11 PM but this one seemed to catch all people willing to stay for some more. sometimes people stay just standing, as there are no more free tables or chairs available. Similar to... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
