We went as a group of 3 and had one of our best steak restaurant experiences in La Pampa. As we arrived, the friendly waiter sat us at a larger table with another free space to place our bags. We soon ordered our drinks including...2 Pina Coladas and 1 Mojito. The Cocktails tasted authentic and they paired well with the appetizer. We had freshly cooked Empanadas and shrimp for appetizers, which both exceeded our expectations. Afterward, we were really looking forward to the main course. Our main course consisted of an Australian Wagyu (Rib-eye & medium-rare) and a thicker Argentinian Sirloin (medium-rare) cut. The intermuscular fat was just perfect for the ribeye and the meat flavor proved its quality. The Sirloin on the other hand, even though not comparable to the Australian Wagyu, had a stronger beef flavor and filled our stomachs. The sides we chose were garlic mashed potatoes, cream spinach, and asparagus. They were great choices for the fatty steak and even provided a different flavor profile paired with the steaks. Finally, we ended our meal with the La Pampa cheesecake, and a chocolate brownie paired with vanilla ice cream. Both were well presented and all the components paired well with each other. The hot brownie with the ice cream matched perfectly well and the cheesecake had fruits and jam that improved the overall experience of the desserts. To conclude, I'd come back again for both the service and food quality. It might be rather expensive, but it's worth every forint.More
Verry good place foreating gret meat la pampa steak, location and professional staff and very helpful.
Fantastic service super tasty food nice restaurant recomenend it House wine. Visíting Budapest nem time For steak love.
We were visiting Budapest for New Year's and we decided to book a table at La Pampa on the 31 of December as they were advertising that they will be serving food until 12 o'clock. We booked a table for two at 22:30. The restaurant...is really nice, a nice bar, great chairs and a really good atmosphere. Toilets are really tiny and you probably have to 'hug' someone while you are trying to get in or out. Decoration 9/10. We ordered two Seasonal soups as a starter and a Cheese Board. The soup that day was pumpkin which was really good but it was served with plain toast bread which you can buy from a supermarket! If you are promoting an 'unforgettable experience' you do not serve bread from Tesco!! The cheeseboard was really nice, good decoration but all the cheese tasted a bit 'fatty' and heavy (this is a personal preference though). For mains my friend ordered Argentinian Rib-eye 320gr and side Whole baked potato. The rib-eye was really good, cooked appropriately as ordered. The side was terrible...potatoes tasted like they were baked a couple days ago and the final dish was dry with no taste at all! I had an Argetinian tenderloin 320 gr and grilled vegetables as a side dish. The vegetables were just okay...nothing more, a dish you can find everywhere and probably it will taste better. The meat was juicy, really good and cooked perfectly. I also had a mushroom sauce which I hardly touched (Tesco again??). Food (6/10) The time was 11:30 and one of the waiters came to our table and said that they are closing and we have to pay.I was still eating and they did not ask us if we wanted any more drinks, or dessert or coffee. Are you for real? 11:30 on New Year's? We were shocked! The manager came with our bill and said that they need to close the PC before 00:00 but he said that we can stay...thank you for not kicking us out just before the New Year. My friend stepped out of the restaurant to vape as she was done with her food. While she was standing next to a mushroom patio heater(provided by the restaurant) to vape, a waiter goes out and turns it off!! She looks at him and asks why? The waiter reply that they are closing and he has to shut it down. I am sorry but you are at least rude! I know that it is not ideal to work on New Years but it is part of your job. Since the restaurant that you are working at is open you have to deal with it. Service (4/10) I had three G&T and my friend two Johnie walker and coke. Final bill 65498HUF / 145.50GBP / 165.30EUR, where service charge was 7018HUF / 15.60GBP / 17.70EUR We paid a fair amount of money for average food, bad experience and rude staff. If you want to eat a piece of meat and overpaid it, this restaurant is highly recommended. In my opinion it is overpriced with nothing to offer apart from a variety of meat. 12% service charge is a joke when you are treated like this. Have a lovely new yearMore
My sweet mother and I tried the la pampa steak, we've been here before and thought we'd come back again, there were a lot of people in the restaurant, but it was worth the wait, I recommend it to anyone who loves a good steak.
We had a dinner with my girlfriend here on New Year’s Eve. We ordered some starters, some stakes, some wine and everything was incredible. We were having a very good time since I had an accident, my nose started bleeding and it’s very frustrating when...it happens, because it’s takes a long time to heal. I went to the toilet and I was trying to make it stop, but nothing was working, so after half an hour of trying, I asked for help. Thank god that blonde young lady came, her name was Bogi I think ( I apologise if I didn’t spell it right). She helped me a lot, gave me a lot of instructions and really helped the situation. She gave her time away for me on a really busy night and I really appreciate what she did for me, and then she immediately went back to work. You guys are so lucky to have people like her working for you! Thank you for helping me!!!More
We thought we'd have a good steak today. What he tasted was the la pampa steak, very juicy meat. I can only recommend
My 3 children (21, 14 and 9) and I entered the restaurant and were told that everything was booked, even though I saw several empty tables. I checked the restaurant’s website and there were several slots available thus I booked a table for 4 at...the same time and was accepted. Not sure why we were turned down the first time, was it because we were a family or because we were discriminated against since we are Latin American (ironically it is an Argentinian restaurant). Very sad first impression of Budapest. Regarding food, it was not very good, quite tasteless and simple for such a fancy looking restaurantMore
We had a lot of fun. The service was good, I'm especially glad that I wasn't disappointed. I can only recommend it.I’m back.
We have arrived at the restaurant after reading recommendations and we arrived with great anticipation after booking a table in advance. We sat down in the lower room (not on the entrance floor). For a first course we ordered empanadas and a carpaccio dish. After...45 minutes the dishes arrived! The empanadas arrived in 3 units, two units looked the same and the third one looked small and shriveled and simply did not belong to the plate and I don't understand how the chef brought out such a dish - it is surprising to receive such a dish from such a restaurant. The carpaccio was a good dish, the size was good, but, in my opinion it lacked balsamic vinegar and maybe Parmesan - but I respect the way it was served and the emphasis on the taste of the meat. After we finished the first courses - the table was not cleaned and there were a lot of crumbs left, the cutlery was taken away (at that moment I didn't think it was a problem). After another 40 minutes!, the main dish arrived - La Pampa steak 550 grams plus French fries. We did not receive suitable cutlery and we ate with the cutlery left on the table (there was no one to ask either), we did not receive coarse salt and ground pepper. When we asked for ketchup for the French fries (that was very small dish) - we got it at the end of the meal - The meat was good and done according what we've ordered. We didn't stay for dessert - the experience was enough for us. The time to pay was fast. In conclusion: Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant. The service is slow and cumbersome, as a customer I felt disappointed by the level of service, table cleanliness, dish's visibility and quality. Serious restaurants wouldn't have the guts to put out such dishes (referring to the empanadas dish). As a person who admire good steakhouses, and I went to eat in places like Bariloche in Argentina and Dario's in Italy and so more - this restaurant feels like a tourist trap and I don't understand what the enthusiasm is about. Hope they get better. Good luck!More
For our dinner on the first night of our holiday we thought we would chose somewhere close to our hotel. We could t have imagined how well this would have turned out. La Pampa is a visually stunning restaurant especially with its Christmas decorations. The...section in which we were seated was very comfortable but at the same time extremely elegant. The waitress who served us made us welcome from the first moment we entered the restaurant she was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu which prompted us to try new dishes which we would perhaps not have considered. We had been particularly keen to try one of the Hungarian red wines and she went to great lengths in helping us chose a suitable wine. The waitress also did the same with the desserts suggesting the special items on offer. All of this was done with a level of fun and friendless which went beyond the norm. As for the food itself both the presentation and the flavours were amazing. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. All of the above contributed to make this a superb start to our holiday. We would definitely recommend a visit to La Pampa.More
The food was great but they overcharged us by 15000 huf. The bill mentioned 2 more expenisive dishes than what we ordered. Mistakes can be made, but the 4 of us all ordered the same dish so it wasn't that hard... They apologized and payed...me back, but be carefull.More
The restaurant has a beautifully elegant black and white interior, with several themed rooms. We had the Argentinian rib-eye and sirloin with creamy spinach and fries sides and a selection of special ham and chorizo, empanadas and beef tartar for entry. Finished with a chocolate...soufflé and cheesecake. Everything was amazing, mouth-watering, the meat was perfectly done, melt in your mouth. Service was very attentive, never missed a beat. If you want to eat great steak in Budapest, this is the place to go to.More
The quirky, elegant interior with the cow design is really fun. The food is nice, we tried steaks. They taste good, the fries are fresh with it. I always ask for the pepper sauce (which could be a bit more peppery). They don’t like to...make it well-done, I guess they find it not gourmet enough. Their red wine selection is great, we have always tried and found different and good wines. The service is average.More
