Baalbek Lebanese Restaurant has garnered acclaim for its authentic Lebanese cuisine, with guests particularly enjoying the flavorful variety of dishes including vegan and mezze options. The welcoming and ornately decorated ambiance contributes to an exceptional dining experience, though there has been a rare complaint. The establishment is lauded for providing good value, balancing reasonable prices with quality and generous portions, and while it may be slightly more expensive than some alternatives, the professional and attentive service solidifies its reputation as a commendable dining choice.

We had a fantastic dinner with my friends and didn't have to wait long for our orders. We enjoyed several different dishes and all tasted amazing! Everything here taste perfection! From the starters, to mains and desserts, there's no dishes you would regret to try! Portions are very well served and prices are very reasonable for what is delivered. Staff is professional and super friendly! Couldn't ask for more! +1 The restaurant has a beautiful beautiful view of the Danube river!

We've already been twice at this restaurant, since it has a magnificent location (at least what concerns the view, if you're sitting outside). It's close to the March 15th Sq. tram stops, on the southern side of Elisabeth bridge. You get a straight view of the statue of liberty from the terrace and the inside has some mural like images of the Baalbek Roman Ruins of Lebanon. I'm a fan of ancient Rome, so couldn't skip telling you that. We've only had coffees here: lattes and cappuccinos and espressos. The latte is very good, served in an insulated glass and the service was also good. We were the only ones outside though and it was chilly both times, so I can forgive any shortcomings in such a case. :-) The inside of the restaurant is luxurious, for my taste at least. Part of the staff is foreign, possibly Lebanese, but certainly Arab. Totally in tune with the Lebanese atmosphere. We haven't eaten anything there so far, but totally want to try it some time. The offer is very limited, some of the dishes sound like Middle-Eastern fast food, but delicious nonetheless. Ever since I read they have lamb, it just got stuck with me. In term of prices, this is somewhere between average to more expensive (based on the coffees) and the dishes on the menu (still to be tried). I happened to recommend it to an Englishman already and he totally liked the place. No issues with the prices for him, whatsoever. The restrooms will blow your mind (even though they are upstairs - notice for those with walking issues or wheelchair!). Totally loved the buttons you have to wave your hand in front of to have the doors opened. You can also push the buttons. Overall totally recommend.

We have planed to visit this restaurant many times earlier but have managed to book a table last Saturday. I was impressed from the restaurant by enetring the buliding, brand new furniture, fantastic colors, even the rest rooms are well and nicely decorated. Tha hall interior is just faboulus. We did go for the starters and ordered from the cold and hot mezes with several dishes like hummus, mohamara, sambousik and we also ordered Fatteh with shrimp which was my favorite one, a traditional meal made of yoghurt, fried eggplant, fried pita bread. You should not missi that one! We have planed to order some main courses, but we where full with the starters which we did not mind. Which means we will come back to try other dishes from the menu. Service was very nice, our waitress was helpful, she was very informative and even the restaurant manager or the owner (I am not sure), was smiling and serving our table. If you are in Budapest and want to try something new, you should go for it! You can even try the Sisha, upstairs on the first floor. Reservation for the weekend is highly recommended.

On entering the place ambience is lovely and clean The staff on arrival were attentive Our table was upstairs but wasn’t quite ready We are asked if we wanted to sit downstairs We said we were happy to wait for upstairs thinking the views would be nice over looking the river - that was a big mistake No view The girl that served us didn’t know how to communicate and was miserable and struggled to smile. We asked for two glasses of wine Received one and then had to ask for the other one When the bill came they had charged for 4 glasses/shots when we had only asked for 1 each The food was average the main was bland no taste Again asked for some chilli sauce nothing came so had to ask again…. Such a shame our experience wasn’t good as it looked like a really nice place and not sure how some of these reviews gave 5 star Very overpriced food and drink for what we had

Our waiter was really impatient, we asked him about the portion sizes and because it was unclear whether how many mezze dishes would be enough for one person. As one mezze is around ~2000-2500 HUF we decided to order two per person and share with each other. So for around 5000 you basically get a normal portion of food if you’re willing to share (the portions on the plates with several dishes are also very small). Generally it’s a fancy looking place with small, but pricey portions for an acceptable quality. But you get the same quality at other places for paying less.

Don't understand the good reviews. The food is bland. Far from good Lebanese food. The fries served with the bland lamb kebab were not even crispy, how can someone mess that up? We had 6 different mezze dishes, none of them were any good. It was definitely edible, just bland and forgettable. Im not a chef, but I make better Lebanese food at home. This restaurant feels and tastes like a tourist trap. Be aware they take 15% service fee on top of price. Also people smoke water pipes inside restaurant - and there are TVs everywhere showing football... Not very cozy Lebanese food can be so much more than this - such a shame.

We are UK visitors staying in Budapest for a week. We came to this restaurant for evening of nice food and drinks. I am allergic to egg and carry an Eppi-pen at all times, and must always check the ingredients of each dish I eat. The first thing my boyfriend and I did when arriving here was ask if the dish I wanted had egg in. Two waiters said it did not, and one even handed us an allergen menu saying it did not. Soon after eating the dish I had to rush to the bathroom and quickly realised I was having an allergic reaction. My boyfriend and I requested that the manager spoke to us, in which he confirmed the dish did in fact have egg in. The manager seemed more interested in appearances than the matter at hand, he even paused the discussion to tend to another customer who wanted more wine. Our evening was ruined - instead of going out for drinks after dinner and having a lovely night, we were forced to go back to our hotel as I felt so horrid. If you have a food allergy , I would strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant as the allergen menu appears to be redundant.

We had the most tasty and really fancy lemonades, the decoration was beautiful and it harmonized with the staff really well. To mention the waiters and waitresses they knew a lot about the food, offered a lot of help choosing and explaining, they were kind and welcoming. Absolutely recommended!

I loved this little place. The hummus is the best I've tasted ever, it was so fresh! Then I had sambusik (little mince parcels) again the flavour was bursting out of them! Then I had chicken kebab which was very flavoursome. Also the waitress Mesi was very nice and helpful when it came to choosing from the menu and I am glad I went with her recommendations. The view from the restaurant is across the Danube River and it was a beautiful night which added to the overall experience. I will defo visit again when I am back in Budapest!

The waiter recommended me some dishes and I ordered it. The food was amazing! The salad was huge, the hummus was excellent with good bread on a side and the main dish was also really good. The staff was really friendly and the waiter (his name was Peter I guess) was really friendly, helpful and always made sure that I feel good. I can definitely recommend that restaurant if you like Mediterranean food and you want to fill your stomach because you are hungry. Thanks. See you next time!

We visited this restaurant for dinner on a weeknight. Baalbek is situated at a great location and if you sit near or on the terrace, the view is absolutely amazing. The interior design is very appealing. We were friendly welcomed and seated at a nice table. We chose 5 different mezze and this was a bit too much for 2 people. However, the food was so tasty, that we almost finished everything. We eat at Lebanese restaurants frequently, but we were impressed by the quality of the dishes. The service was prompt and very friendly. One of us is vegan and there were plenty of options to choose from. We can strongly recommend to pay this place a visit when in Budapest!

The waiter dropped a whole opened bottle of red wine on our table, all our clothes were spilled with it, most of us had huge amount even on our faces, hair and coats behind us on the chair. Shards of glasses fell everywhere, everything on the table was covered in red wine. All 4 of us got kind of shocked. Accidents do happen and we were pretty sorry for the waiter, even ensured him of our understanding. What we appreciated is that the personal offered to have one of our's stained coat washed and dried quickly, they also offered a blanket but all of this only upon approach and request, no special reaction on us being covered in and stunk of red wine in general after the accident. What was especially outrageous is that the manager meant to compensate all this by removing the dessert (3k HUF each) from the bill. We did not want to start counting how much all our white clothes cost which could then go to the rubbish. For our luck, most of us were wearing black but still being wet and stunk of the wine. Offering removing the dessert was opportunistic and humiliating. As young ladies, we were seen as no extremely wealthy people and not the ones who would make a scene so they started with ridiculous compensation. Then we insisted on more. Then they offered a round of free drinks another time. We added that we did not intend to ever go back again to make further business. Finally, the manager became willing to at least removing our cocktails from the bill too. It was an extended compromise to us considering the terrible compensation compared to what we have expected. Accidents do happen but these situations are the ones when you realize how generous or even just fair a fancy-looking restaurant is to its guests.

We had a great meal at Baalbek. We were quickly seated on a Saturday night, our waiter and waitress answered our question about various menu items and gave us suggestions, including nice wines, and were prompt and courteous. And our food was very good, including a tasty tea infusion. I would return here when in Budapest. Kudos to Hoydara and the rest of the team at Baalbek.

Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
