These guys recently opened as a 'pop up' terrace. But, the food (and drinks) are WAY more serious than the 'pop up' implies. The focus is on traditional Hungarian dishes and they're delivering one of the first real 'farm to table' experiences in Budapest. We tried a range of items and my Hungarian companions agreed they were some of the best execution of dishes such as Goulash, Cordon Bleu and porkolt (Hungarian stew) in the city. The starters - mangalitza selection, traditional white cottage cheese spread were outstanding and the wine list was compact, but impressive and reasonably priced. They also have a range of cocktails and a few local craft beers. The terrace has a 'sophisticated'cool' feel and the service was excellent (perfect English). Having tried all of 'the top' traditional Hungarian restaurants around Budapest there's no doubt this is up there with THE best. Highly recommended!

We were a party of 8 - 3 of us from England meeting family and friends. We all cleaned our plates as the food was just so delicious. I had the salmon which was perfectly cooked and served with a really tasty spinach veloute. I also ordered the parsley potatoes which ended up being too much but my family and friends were happy to help as they were very tasty. I noticed on another review they said it was a tiny piece of salmon and not worth the 35 Euros. Mine was a big piece of salmon and I paid just under 7000 HUF for that dish which is nothing like 35 Euros. We split our bill 8 ways and paid about 12000 forints each. This included a bottle of wine, some beers and a couple of starters and desserts. Excellent value and delicious food.

Walked down Stefania ut last night and walked past this place and decided to try it out. It is basically a garden between two buildings. Although the garden looks somehow modest, the food is really excellent. I had the Goulash, which was probably the best Goulash I've ever had. We tried three of the different red wines and they were all very good. We had the Grof Buttler Egri Bikaver at the end which is one of my favorite Hungarian wines and I was also very pleased that the mark-up on wine in this place is really low (probably 60-70%). I am definitely coming back soon and I would highly recommend it to anyone eating out in the area.

Unfortunately we were kicked out of this restaurant as they would not serve someone with a nut allergy. We do appreciate the fact that they take allergies seriously, but why mark your food in your menu as containing nuts, if you will not serve anything the menu to someone with an allergy?
I’m sure the restaurant is great, but don’t come here if you have any allergies. It’s also a bit far from the city so there are no alternatives nearby.

Dear Malin, we are sorry that we were not able to host you, but we did this solely for your benefit: our colleagues work in the kitchen in one air space, so we cannot be 100 percent sure that our guest could not get (nut)poisoned, we cannot take the risk if it is really so serius at your side. We also warn our guests about this in advance, but our colleague also tried to tell it politely. In light of this, we feel the evaluation (one point) is unfair, as it does not reflect the quality of our restaurant, but rather your disappointment, which (again) we are very sorry for. Just arrived in Budapest. Looked at trip advisor to check where was a nice Hungarian food restaurant. Perfect choice. Good menu showing if it is vegan, vegetarian, gluten free, milk free.
Very nice staff, excellent service.
I went for the goulash as a starter and the waiter recommended me a traditional Hungarian main dish.
Perfect with a good Hungarian red wine.
Our first eating out in Budapest was fab !

This is not truly the best of Budapest because like the other low ratings here and at Google show true opinions and experiences. Perhaps I ordered everything that isn't their speciality, but should a small piece of smoked salmon cost 35€? Bread was not included also.

Happened upon Szaletly when looking for restaurants with decent vegetarian options for my wife and was genuinely impressed by the quality of the cookery on display. My pork rillette was excellent, served with some beans that had brilliant depth and a great sour cream mousse/foam thing. I'm told the vegetarian options were a bit special too. Highly recommended!

Been here four times since they re-opened at the former Thököly Etterrem. Each time we had no reservations but the staff was kind and professional and there was no wait. Inside is nice and there isn't the overcrowding that you get at some restaurants. Each time their offerings ranged from good to great as they try to update Hungarian classics and there was at least one item served that was exceptional. In the warm weather months they have outdoor tables that I've been looking forward to trying. While next to a busy artery, it is still in a good neighborhood with embassies nearby that ocuppy former grand villas of the elite on Stéfania street. It may be worth the walk from the Városliget park to get there. While not in the inner districts, it is still quite easy to get there as it is just two bus stops past Keleti.

During my stay in Budapest, I wanted to try the typical dishes offered in a more refined and refined way, so I decided to have dinner at the Szaletly restaurant.

We were a party of two for lunch with great expectations. The interior and the presentation of the food is indeed nice and the staff friendly and quick. The food itself unfortunately was not as good as it looked. My hen soup was less than average by taste, the pees in it did not match the dish and were overcooked, the whole soup was very salty, and tasted like the cubes you can buy, with one small wonton in it, I had much better before chicken soups at other restaurants. My second was the roasted chicken with cauliflower puree and cauliflower. It was good but nothing special.Again very salty, and was too monoton both the puree and the whole pieces being only cauliflower. That dish needs some other ingrediants. Overall not bad but forgettable. Not sure if we return.

Szaletly is just the type of place that you would go and have some food and wine with your friends and family. The food was really nice, lots of vegan and healthy options.
The location is a bit off from the city centre, but can be easily accessed by car and public transport.
The live music gives the place a cozy atmoshpere, I would recommend.

We had a great time at Saletly restaurant. The food was delicious, fresh and perfectly presented. Very pleasant Hungarian traditional meals. The restaurant are in beautiful style and sparking clean. Friendly and polite waiters and waitresses, they committed to give you fantastic service.
We visited the restaurant with two children who extremely fussy and they loved every single bite.
Also it have special dish for vegetarian and tasty/healthy children meal.
Fantastic selection of good quality wine and freshly made drinks

Very nice ambience, but that was it. Goulash without taste, before that an appetizer that goes back almost completely (cold fried egg under a mountain of mayonnaise), full plates after eating should move the service staff to ask if everything was okay. Misrepresentation. The second service member who comes to checkout then asks if everything was okay. Our answer: No! No further demand, which did not fit. Instead, "bye and have a nice day." All set. Overall NO Recommendation, neither regarding food nor service.

Atmosphere and staff was very nice, but the food was absolutely tasteless. Starters were huge and tasted terrible. Even goulash was the worst i ever had which was biggest disapointment. Only good dish was from kids menu roasted chicken with mashed potatoes. Dessert floating island was ok. Hungarian triple desssert was nice.
