Intimate restaurant with excellent service and nice menu. Waiter was helpful in selecting wine from their decent selections, predominately if not all Hungarian. The food was good. Cucumber salad was very nice and perfectly balanced. I enjoyed the duck breast and my husband enjoyed a...rib eye steak. The tart cherry pie was very good but would have been even better if slightly warmed.More
We were 4 for dinner. Let's start with our Server (Daniel), he was amazing - he wanted to practice English (already perfect) and talk NFL. He gave great advice on wines (we took both his suggestions). The food was lovely, generous portions and it was...2 minutes from our hotel in Old Buda. We love this place. In fact so much, that the next day we went to their sister restaurant (21) and our friends went to Pest-Buda a 2nd time.More
A very short walk from our hotel (Hilton), we wandered down for an early lunch before heading to the thermal baths. We walked inside, were greeted immediately and offered a table outside in the shade, which was perfect as it was a very hot day....The tables looked lovely, some of them dressed with red-checked tablecloths, which gave it a nice traditional bistro feel. We can't really comment on the interior as we only popped our heads in for a second before being shown to a table. We didn't book, we just walked in around midday and there was plenty of choice for seating inside or out. I ordered the goulash soup for my starter and my husband chose the chicken pancake. Although the meat was nice and tender in the soup, it could've had a bit more flavour but the homemade bread served with it was still warm and delicious, a really flavourful sourdough. I tried the chicken pancake and it was really tasty, I'd order that if we went back. For our mains, I ordered a schnitzel and my husband went for the stuffed cabbage rolls with a pork rib. I loved the schnitzel, it was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, nice and thin and the potato salad was full of flavour, had a nice citrus/acidic twang in the dressing. The schnitzel also came with a little pot of a red berry sauce which was sweet and tart and went perfectly with everything. I tried a bite of the cabbage rolls, my husband really enjoyed them and I can see why - full of flavour and tender. The portions were excellent for both, the quality was fantastic and we were way too full for dessert, even though there were some very tempting options! As well as the every day menu, the waiter also presented us with the daily specials so there is always plenty of choice in terms of different dishes. Our waiter - Daniel - was polite, really friendly and attentive, checking regularly that we had everything we needed. He also made the bread he served us himself, which was a lovely, personal touch. I'd definitely go back here if we return to Budapest.More
Looks The Part, but staff were completely loathe some. Firstly no one greets you, your hunting for staff to to ask permission to sit yourself at the well dressed table. No Complaints about quality of Food/pricing. It was just okay. However - 14% Gratuity Service...Fee for WHAT SERVICE!?! Waiter only appeared to bring out food and drink only, no checking on the tables, top ups and no courtesy when spoken to aka Basic Manners. Had to get the cheque myself and do the waiters job, and made myself look impatient - restaurant is just a trap preying on agreeable tourists in Buda Castle. Don’t accept bad service as a visitor. Will Never Return Nor Recommend.More
A Hungarian friend recommended this restaurant and it fitted in well with the conclusion of a guided tour of the Buda area. Excellent service & food to match. We were able to eat al fresco & very pleasant it was. All four of us had...different dishes & there were no complaints.More
Bad service , even worse gulash soup . A tourist trap I will never go back to this place This must be the worst restaurant in BudapestMore
Dear ROY1952! Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. I am sorry to read we could not deliver the original Pest-Buda experience during your last visit, neither in terms of service nor dishes. I would like to apologise for this...More
Poor service and attitude from the waiter. Mediocre food taste. Very high service charge (they didn’t ask how much to charge for the service and we didn’t argue, but I wouldn’t pay any service at all because it was so poor). I don’t recommend this...bistro.More
Staying nearby and visited for breakfast. Excellent omelettes, very good croissants as well as good americanos. Good service and very reasonably priced.
Nice cozy restaurant. Great food. The fact that there is not so many choices is actually a good sign. A little long for being served but it was worth it. Had goulash and stuffed cabbage 😋 and Apple strudel ! Very good !
Visited here while touring the grounds of Buda Castle Districts. Lovely decor, not much food choice but the meals we had were presented well and tasty. Was probably the most expensive meal of the trip but was a nice lunch time stop in this quaint...villageMore
The Pest Buda is AMAZING! The restaurant is very nice, thoughtful decor. We got the chicken paprikash and it was the best meal we have eaten in a long time. If you are ever in Budapest looking for good, casual, Hungarian food please come here....We loved our meals so much we even got dessert and they were to die for. Our waitress Kitti was very helpful and attentive! Great food, great service, great vibesMore
For me this is the best part of the city - sleepy’ quaint and almost Parisienne in feel-this restaurant epitomises the area. Good service, friendly, really tasty local food and wine. Well worth a visit.
We went here twice and had two excellent meals. Try the flamed pie (pizza) it beat the pizza we had when travelling Italy. It’s seriously insanely good. Also good picks are the goulash and paprikash (but you’d expect that!)
We had a nice dinner here after a wine tasting. We enjoyed the chicken paprikash and wild boar stew, also the bistro plate appetizer. The service was efficient and helpful, overall a good experience since we were staying nearby.
