After you visit the castle on the "Buda" hill, go down to the riverside and have lunch at Zona. Superb 3 course lunch, lovely wine, great service and thoughtfulness, a very nice experience. Great value considering the high quality of both meal and surroundings. Don't miss it!

Location is good, near to tunnel seeing the river. Menu is limited, local dishes not to find. Service is normal. Prices compared to other restaurants in Budapest are high.

If you are visiting Budapest, it's a very good place to eat. I got a lamb minced meat and it was delicious! The service was OK and I recommend to make a reservation at least 1 day before. The dessert (Zona) finished our really good dinner.

My husband and I had a lovely evening having gone here after we couldn't get a taxi to the restaurant we had booked. But this turned out to be a bonus. The service was excellent with little touches such as a blanket for those sitting outside like ourselves. Food was beautifully presented and the staff were just lovely to us.... More

Super nice restaurant, really recommended. Good service and nice environment. Food is delicious. And we only paid Euro 35 for two persons with three courses each and two drinks for each. We come at lunch time. The staff are so friendly and helpful and gave us wholehearted welcome and advice on unlicensed transport! We just love NOVA.

Although this restaurant was on a list of places to try while in Budapest, we kind of stumbled on it using Google maps one hot afternoon. After touring Parliament, walking along the river and over the bridge in the hot sun, we were looking for a nice lunch before going up the hill to the castle and Fisherman's Bastion. Zona... More

We stopped here because the seats outside looked so cute and the view overlooked the chain bridge which is gorgeous at night. We sat downstairs and the staff brought us a menu pretty much straight away. We only went here for a soft drink because it was our last night in Budapest. When we had ordered they brought them out... I had the fortune to catch the "quick lunch" offer (a 3 course lunch special for ~12 euros - a great price considering the location and the quality). I was especially impressed with the kindness of the service (something still not common enough in Hungary) and by the zero-waste water option: filtered & carbonated & bottled in-house - excellent option... Description
Every tiny detail of the renewed ZONA is inspired by our trips to global cities.

The cuisine is influenced by their diversity, the respect for their cultural heritage and the current gastronomic trends. Exciting flavors, blustering colors unite in a unique location by the Buda side of Chain Brindge, but almost in the downtown. We add an honest, accomodating but professional table service to make your stay a unique experience, so we could show what guest and restaurant relation really means to us.

ZONA got 17 Gault Millau points in the past two years (3 hats) and received Dining Guide's Restaurant of the Year award last year.

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
