About
Located in the center of Budapest (Basilica), Gelarto Rosa is the best ice cream in our town! Owner, the charismatic Niki Szokron studied the secrets of old Italian family recipes straight from the source in Italy and brought it back to her city. The philosophy behind it: fresh and true quality ingredients, old Italian traditions, modern technic and as final touch, add artistic creativity. The pretty ice cream girls at Niki's shop "create" each and every portion or cone as a unique artwork using ice cream as art material. It's simply amazing! n.

Gelarto Rosa turn serving ice cream into an art form! Interesting flavours like baked apple and caramel feature alongside other high quality ices. Watching your assistant shape your ice cream into the petals of a rose makes for an interesting wait. Flavours are delightful and leave you wanting to try more flavours. If you like ice cream then you must visit here.

You'll know where Gelarto Rosa is when you see the line. Don't be put off- it moves quickly. The staff are pleasant and efficient and create the most beautiful ice cream artwork you've ever seen. While they move quickly, they are precise in their craft ensuring each customer gets a beautiful, perfectly made ice cream rose.
If you do Budapest like I do, you certainly get your steps in, so it's worth it to go for three flavors. Be sure to include poppy seed as one of your options. Not only is it beautiful, it is a wonderfully unique flavor!

Why go elsewhere for an ice cream? The shop not only provides fantastic rose shaped ice creams but fab flavours too!!
Yes they’re very instagrammable.
3 flavours (which is the hardest part to decide on!!) medium size will set you back 1000 HUF which is about £2.60
So worth it!! Such a skill.
Beautiful views of the basilica opposite.

My wife and I visited Gelarto Rosa on the advice of a friend and we loved it so much I think we stopped in on all five days we were in Budapest. First, they carve your ice cream into a rose shape. But that's not the best part. The gelato is delicious with flavors (and flavor combinations) that I've never heard of. My favorite: pear. It really tasted like pear! Others we had: Lavender with white chocolate, mango, basil-lemon, hazelnut. There's a board outside of available flavors that changes daily. All of them are good though.

Simply delicious ice cream, real (not artificial) aromas, you can see and taste fruit and nuts. I had the large rose, 4 flavours of ice cream - mango, coconut, raspberry and chocolate banana and it was quite large and super tasty, not to mention soooo pretty. Definitely don't miss this place.

Wow! Not just an ice cream but a real work of art. I found it hard to pick two flavours and a third would have just been greedy. I opted for the caramelised Bradley apple and pistachio which was a great combination. The ice cream was constructed into the shape of a rose placed in a cornet.
Good value for money; great range of flavours; warm friendly staff.

The Ice cream was tasty , but I think it’s over rated due to the rose shape and hence the pricing is high for the serving that they give. I have had such good ice gelato in other places which are priced better and the serving is huge. But this could be tried one time. The flavours were good and quite nice.

Easy to miss store in the shadow of St Stephen’s Cathedral, located opposite Starbucks. Good selection of ice creams, good quality and not overly expensive. What makes them different from the rest is that your ice cream is cleverly fashioned into the shape of a flower on your cone, which makes it worth trying if only once. Service is quick even though there is usually a queue, payment is made first, then you exchange your ticket with the server for an ice cream. Due to the busy nature of the place you can feel a bit rushed when it comes to being served, so try to decide on your flavours while queueing (pistachio is good!).

You can choose any flavours you like and also sample them. The staff will then make the rose ice cream based on your choice in front of you.
I was served by two students who were really friendly and where happy to give advice on combinations

I can image in the summer months the queue would be out of the door.As you go in you order the size of ice cream, you are then given a ticket where you then jostle into position to hand your ticket over the counter so they can make your ice cream. Be aware people don’t like to queue and try to push in, but the lady behind the counter soon put them in their place.
Ice cream it’s self was delicious and definitely worth the price. Recommend a visit.

Here you get the finest ice cream shaped like roses, I bought a small (30kr) it is 2 kinds of ice cream. A raspberry sorbet and dragon fruit sorbed, they tasted great. There were many kinds of ice cream to choose from and I don’t think I should have one more of the fine ice cream before I left Budapest.

I was there with my friends and we all really liked the gelato. They have so many flavors, my friends had mango and rasberry sorbet and I had white chocolate with lavender and salty butter caramel and everything was sooo delicious.
Also place is so nice, its like old fashioned and the staff was nice to us too.
Such a nice place to visit.

We both wanted to try the famous white chocolate and lavender ice cream, which was beautiful - it’s sweet but has a lovely delicate lavender hint to it. My partner went for the salted butter caramel which was very decadent and I chose the basil lemon which was so tasty that I’ve Googled recipes to recreate it - I’d try to make the white chocolate and lavender but don’t think I have much hope of getting it right.. Grab a cone and sit right outside the beautiful St Stephens Basilica (Szent István Bazilika). Well worth a visit!

Gelarto Rosa has become something of a Insta Mecca for Gelato lovers, as the layered structure of the ice cream actually is very "grammable". Having said this the product itself is not just easy on the eye, but also the tongue, as the flavors are unusual (try poppy seed), yet enyoable. This combination of view and taste has not stayed a secret, resulting in excessive lines in front of the parlour. If you go, or not, therefore depends on your time and appetite of waiting and for a beautiful, delicious piece of ice cream.

A great tourist attraction for people who want to take cool photos (and possibly post them to IG stories or other social media platforms, lol). The ice cream itself was very tasty, there were a lot of flavors to choose from and the staff was great. I've already been here once a couple of years ago and I'd come again. I love this place!
