Last night we had a wonderful Valentine's evening at Halaszbastya. Fantastic food, great wine selection and a musical ambience fit for a castle. Staff were attentive and very professional. Highly recommended for a very special evening during a trip to Budapest.

We were greeted by the lovely reception lady, she made us feel so welcome. She showed us round the restaurant and we went in the following day. The food was the best I have ever had. My wife is vegetarian and was amazed by the food. We had seven courses each each as delicious as the other. The service was... More

I celebrated my birthday with my boyfriend at Halaszbastya Restaurant in January 2017 and overall it was an excellent experience. The dinner service was elegant and the view of the Parliament and Danube are amazing! The live musicians (violin and bass) were awesome, they come to your table to play especially for you which I really enjoyed. Expect to pay... More

We chose HalaszBastya restaurant to welcome the New Year. The restaurant location is perfect: a breathless full view on Pest and the Danube. The restaurant is superb - the dining area is located in the bastion and decorated with natural stone and crystal lighting. The staff is super cordial, efficient and very discrete. The meal - a 7-courses menu has... More

We found this place by accident while visiting the Fisherman's Bastion. The hostess was describing the New Year's Eve dinner. After hearing the details we decided to book a table. The restaurant was amazing, fantastic, awesome! The wait staff were very friendly, very attentive, very professional. Watching them "perform" was like watching a culinary ballet. Everything was coordinated and timed... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
