About
The Halaszbastya Restaurant is not just a restaurant, but an atmosphere, an expression of feeling which is much more complicated to describe than to try out and become a party to the miracle... Thanks to the elegant, neo-Romanesque styled internal space and the well-trained hospitability team the Halaszbastya Restaurant impress their guests with not only its beauty but warm atmosphere as well. Margareta Terrace is the uppermost terrace of the Restaurant with gorgeous panorama. We offer hot drinks in winter time and ice-cold refreshers during the summer heat, while the Danube Terrace, - which is in line with the Danube -, we offer hot and cold dishes from spring to autumn. An excellent venue

Our first night in Budapest and what a way to start it. This restaurant deserves at least one Michelin star. We opted for the gourmet menu. Everything was simply superb. Excellent service and very good wine list. Prices very reasonable for the quality.

A perfect end to our holiday! What a treat it was to experience stunning food and views in such a magical historic building that has been tastefully restored. The staff added to this memorable experience with the excellent service (thank you Bence), confidently communicating the...extensive curated menus (both food and wine) and delivering each eagerly anticipated meal with style. The food and wine (our choice guided by a sommelier) were simply beautiful. The flavours and presentation a delight. My husband and I both will remember and treasure this special meal.More

My amazing wife had already done her research on this restaurant but the reviews don’t do justice to this superb destination - as it’s essentially a chance to eat in a beautiful castle!! We were met by friendly front of house staff and shown to...our table on the upper tier, which immediately felt like a VIP private dining suite that overlooks the Danube and Parliament building on the opposite bank. We chose a tasting menu that showcased some of the delicious Hungarian cuisine available - and were recommended some superb, local white wine by the knowledgeable Sommelier. The service was the highlight however, as it never felt intrusive or subservient (as it sometimes can at fine dining restaurants) and I’d like to commend our waiter Bence for his great attentiveness and sense of humour. No hesitations in recommending this to anyone after a really special occasion!More

Excellent upmarket restaurant, fine dining Hungarian style. All of our courses were delicious, as were the cocktails, with very professional service and a great view across to Pest.

We went there during our stay in Budapest and I can honestly say this is one of the best restaurants I have been in. The restaurant was amazing, the chandeliers were a talking point, the views were breath-taking right across the Danube and the parliament...building. The service was first class as was the meal and the wine. We all had an amazing time and would definitely recommend and go back.More

This place is extremely recommended! The view is amazing, the atmosphere is great, the service is perfect, and the food is very good as well! I was afraid that this restaurant food won't be very good because of the extremely good location it has, but...it was amazing! The waiters are extremely nice and welcoming! I mainly recommend the chicken breast and the lamb dishesMore

We visited this restaurant on 13th of March 2020 on the recommendation of our hotel. Right from the minute we arrived we knew it was going to be a special experience when the receptionist contacted our waiter on her headset, who took us to our...table. It was almost a Michelin Star experience, there were plenty of staff who were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. If you're lucky enough to get a table by the window you'll have a fantastic view over the Danube and the Pest side of the city (? request it when you book). I see there are some 1 star reviews but we certainly did not have a poor experience and are happy to recommend this place. A 3 course meal with a couple of glasses of wine cost approximately £150, so not cheap, but we think it was worth every penny. The restaurant is not easy to find - well our taxi driver did not have much of a clue, using Google maps repeatedly. You cannot be dropped off at the restaurant door but on the street at the front of Matthias Church then walk down into the courtyard where you will see it.More

Booked a lunch two months ago and cancelled on us at short notice as they had a larger booking and would no longer allow us to dine with them. Transport had been arranged within a busy itinerary. Poor customer service to treat someone who's booked...so far in advance so poorly.More

My partner brought me to Halaszbastya for Valentines' Day dinner and I was blown away. The view was fantastic, the atmosphere was romantic, the music was soothing and the waitresses and waiters were extremely welcoming and friendly. Needless to say, the food was impressive. Our...eyes lit up at the taste of every dish. Perfect, perfect, perfect. Will definitely return if we come back to Budapest :)More

Posh restaurant. The food was really good and the service was great. The price for two people (3 courses) + 2 drinks each was 100€ total for both of us. The views are incredible. The only bad thing was that we were sat close to...the stairs to the toilet that connect a cafe bar with the restaurant. Every person that went to toilet looked at us and the door opening every two minutes was very disruptive!More
