My second visit here but two years ago we only had a beer. Brought two couple with us this time and raved about the views we could have but didn't have that high of expectations about the food. This time was only lunch but it was really good and a great wait person as well. Now we know better next... More

I really enjoyed Halaszbastya Restaurant, which is situated at the top of the hill on the Buda side, by Buda Castle. The restaurant offers excellent views on Pest as it is so high up and a luxurious interior. There was a quartet playing when we visited which added to the ambience greatly. The food was absolutely amazing, I cannot recommend... More

We celebrated our 36th wedding anniversary here. From the time we walked through the door, it was magical! We made a reservation (by email a month in advance) for a table by a window and had a spectacular view of The Parliament. We arrived during the daylight and left after sunset so we were able to watch the lights come... More

We previously dined here in 2014 and left absolutely amazed by the view, food & service. We went again taking a friend and were disappointed. The view & service excellent but the meal fell short of expectations, especially when paying over 100euro per person.

Went to book for the Tuesday night but was told they had a better table on the Wednesday. I am so glad they told me this. Our table was on the top floor with fantastic views over the river and the city. There was even a sell balcony for us to step out onto to take photos. The service was... More

The restaurant for the best view! Located on the Buda side overlooking the Danube and Pest. Attentive staff, good food. Dine outside on the terrace weather permitting.

Had a spinach soup on the house, creamy nice taste. Starter was something stuffed, vegetarian, very special with something crispy and red pepper. Main was some pork with cheese noodles, soft meat well cooked. Dessert was Apple of the House something like that with frozen white chocolate, apple mousse, some crunchy thingy with very small pieces of apple, very very... More

Dave and I decided we wanted an exceptional dining experience for the last night of our Honeymoon. We had several choices in mind, but this was our first choice, and we managed to get a reservation. (We really should learn to plan ahead!) We were not disappointed, the night was perfect to sit outside on the terrace. With some negotiation... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
