Really delicious cakes and drinks, lavender hot chocolate was amazing! And if you're unsure about the flavour, they keep it subtle. Cake was amazing really light, made with love. Thank you!

It is always so nice to have a break in Walzer Café. The owner is extremly friendly, the cakes are yummy, the cafe is very good and the location is perfect (next to the tourist area but peaceful at the same time). I highly recommend to have a stop here during your stay in Budapest!

Walzer Café is located in the castle district of Budapest but it's nicely hidden from the Matthias Church area which can be very crowded and busy sometimes. Coffees and other drinks are good (especially the chai latte) and we liked the desserts as well. Brownie and chocolate cake were our favorites! The thing with this little café is that it... More

Small, charming cafe in the Buda district. We had hot chocolates (she has lots of different varieties!), macarons, plum cake (absolutely delicious), salted caramel cake (also lovely, but contains lots of peanuts which I don't love). The owner could not be more accommodating and charming - warm, personal, caring service. Definitely worth visiting

Having walked from the Matthias church towards the Hilton, curious to see the remnants of the old church it's built on, we continued in the same direction, ever so slightly off the beaten track, only to discover this small, extremely charming café at the entrance of an elegant old residential building. The coffee was very good, the cakes fabulous and... More

Just past the tourist squares you will find the charming local Walzer Cafe. The menu is limited to a few toasted sandwiches, but they have a nice selection of desserts. The service was very friendly and quick and was just a nice break from the crowds and sun! Free wi-fi is a nice bonus too!

Description
In business for over 10 years, Walzer Café is an independent courtyard cafe located inside a 700 year old building in the heart of Budapest's historic Castle district. There is no shortage of cafes in the Castle but if you are looking for something off the beaten path with a quiet intimate setting then look no further than Walzer! We encourage you to come & get off your feet, get together with friends, catch up on reading, or even strike up a conversation with a local regular during your stay in our lovely city. At Walzer Café, we pride ourselves on providing excellent service & one of the best cups of coffee this side of the Danube. You can find us down the street from Matthias Church & the Hilton Hotel, as you head towards the Vienna Gate (Bécsi Kapu). We look forward to welcoming you!

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
