Trying to do too much for too many - average restaurant - bar overcharging unwary tourists (inc not displaying prices) - low end brothel.

Buda is very quiet at night, rather than return to my hotel I noticed this spot. AVOID it all all costs, as well as being outdated & filthy, 3 rounds of 3 drinks came to 20,000HUF (wish I'd noticed the other reviews for the place before this) While the drinks were anything but cheap, I can't comment on the brothel... This was a restaurant on a Tauck tour featuring some of the local pastries. The coffee was divine, the staff very attentive, the day beautiful.

We had Goulash soup, Chicken Paprika, and Wild Boar Stew. It was all delicious. Do try their Goulash soup! We found the wines on the menu limited and a bit pricey but the very accommodating host brought us a bottle of Hungarian Cabernet that he recommended. It was less costly and very good.

Popped in for lunch. Met a couple friends there. The guy was so incredibly rude we opted not to have lunch. The kicker? He refused to give me change for my cappuccino. I asked, "are you giving me my change?" His response: no. Then got on his cell phone and ignored me. Expletives followed and we left. Don't bother with... More

This place has absolutely nothing special, it's quite dusty. Too much local flavour, average dishes and poor plating. Our waiter was not very friendly. Would not go there again and not recommend it to others.

there is a restaurant (canteen) which belongs to Budavari Fortuna Etterem (it is just the next door in the small passage). the canteen was closed and we decided to go to the Budavari Fortuna Etterem. Gulash was best of the best. I haven't eaten such a delicious soup since a longe time! must try for gulash!!

This is a La Fiesta Restaurant in Buda. The Ratatouille with polenta was excellent as well as the service. Old world charm with barrel ceilings and beams

It was indeed difficult to find, and serves local food to local people at local prices. Tourists do visit, if they can find it, and it is clean but basic. The traditional Hungarian food was exceptional in quantity and quality. It was among the cheapest restaurants we visited in Budapest and gives a very good introduction to Hungarian cuisine which... The passage just off Fortuna Utca has 3 places to eat and drink and I think that some reviewers have mixed them up. The workers cafe which is on the left going up the stairs is Excellent as Lesley P has said. I cannot comment on the restaurant which is first on the left as we didn't visit. However we... More

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
