Nice Unique Resto!

I expected to eat something wow when i saw this place from outside. Old, beautiful, unique atmosphere offering Hungarian and Italian food. They are also offering live “gipsy” music which i have to say: Nice! You can request some music, inculding from Beethoven. The musicians play soooo good! But when it comes to the food, it was a bit disappointing. My expectation is higher than the reality. Simpler place could offer better food! Sorry to say. The dessert they offer on the window was not available, and even was not on the menu. Sad. But the wine: white and red wine they have are top!!! In my opinion, the price for the food was too expensive for what we had, but the price for the drinks was cheap for such quality wine. But still, i wish the best for them!

Good but pricey

Interesting decor, quirky, old fashioned. Service was very good, and we enjoyed the musical trio, the violinist came to our table to play requests. Goulash soup starter was lovely. Salmon main was excellent. Lamb shank cooked perfectly but served with lentils.

Amazing place

The location looks like a small museum full of utensils and pictures from the Hungarian peasant culture. Live music accompanied our dinner and the food was really good. Prices are not very low but they are proportioned to the abundant quantity of food.

Avoid if you don’t like live music at table

Friendly main waiter with great touch for detail unlike other waiters around. Food arrived relatively quickly, however, it was mediocore at best. Live music they had comes around your table once you’re done with your main course. We found them a bit rude by forcing the song you didn’t request and waiting for you to pay them making us feel rather uncomfortable.

We were sat awaiting a server to take our drink order for around half an hour. Meanwhile said servers were arguing over who was going to serve our table. We put in our food order and an hour later only half of our food orders are severed. We wait another half an hour and the rest of the food has still not arrived (2 hours now in the restaurant ) . We ask for the bill to leave and the restaurant adds on a 12% service charge. We ordered the goulash and it was served with 2 chunks of meat.

Came here following friend advice. It’s alright- food is standard, standard service. I concur with the below review about the music. Awkward when you don’t cough up some Euros & forced us to listen to music they were able to play.

Friends and I visited here for dinner on 23rd May . Ibi had taken our booking earlier in the day . We had a lovely meal, the gypsy music was very entertaining and we were very well looked after by Ibi she was very accommodating . Would highly recommend eating here - fascinating and interesting decor.👏

Food is nice and tasty but portions are small/medium. Items that are written in the menu as part of the plate are not there (a plate that contained chicken, sausage, others items, the sausage was missing. On the bill the prices are different than the prices stated in the menu, in our case that was on the drinks (and I don't mean the 12% service charge). The total difference is small (3-4 euros) but still there shouldn't be any! If you are visiting this restaurant just be extremely careful when you pay.

Welcoming staff (some speak a little Italian) and good food, Hungarian type, mainly based on meat and vegetables but perhaps a little too spicy for my tastes. Generous portions. To tell the truth we were served a little slowly and for a place of this type the bill wasn't exactly cheap, especially the drinks

The food at this place was ok to tasty, but the service at this restaurant was great, very polite and helpful. Also the decoration is unique, it has a very traditional touch. The prices were moderate, and I also found one or two vegetarian options. All in all I would go there again.

Food grossly overpriced for what you get and overall lacked any flavor. Took 15 minutes for waiter to come to our table to start with drinks. Once food delivered, we never saw our waiter again until we had to flag a different server down to get the tab. Our waiter returned and then acted shocked when he asked for a tip for his service and was flatly told “no” from us. Terrible experience. The medium rare steak was rare at best.

Wow, what a great evening and a perfect dinner. We had walked past in the afternoon, called in and booked a table for 6.30pm. When we arrived our server, Csabito, had reserved our table outside as requested. He was personable and attentive to us without being "over the top". He gave us our menus and wine/drinks menus and was very willing to explain the different choices on the menu. He even added a non menu item for our entree. The food was excellent, the wine, a Hungarian Rose, was really enjoyable, and our dinner was truely wonderful. We even convinced several passers by to dine there. What a great dinner. The assistance and service from Csabito really added to the occasion. We cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough. Thank you again Csabito for a truely wonderful night in Budapest.

Gypsy music violin and cimbalon (zither)

We went for the gypsy music and were very pleased with the violin and cimbalon (zither). Amazing Hungarian gypsy music and other genres. I asked for genuine Hungarian music and they played Bartok, Kodaly, Strauss and Brahms Hungarian dance 5. Wonderful. We ate mushroom stew with spatzle (yum) and fruit filled dumplings, along with goulash, of course.

Had a meal in Rustico last Wednesday evening after going to a classical music concert very near by at St Michaels church. This place is amazing the decor hasn't changed since it opened a long time ago. We had a table outside as it was still very warm at 9pm. The menu has so much to choose from and the staff are welcoming, warm ,pleasant and speak excellent English. We only had a main course as portions are very generous, husband had beef red wine stew with potatoes and I chose local Hungarian sausage served with a bowl of sweetly pickled veg and sweet mustard, both were delicious. Rustico is in a pedestrianised street in an area full of small shops an loads of bars and all types of bars and restaurants, we can thoroughly recommend it you won't be disappointed.

Lovely restaurant

Just back from a lovely evening in Rustico. I’m visiting Budapest by myself and I liked the cosy look of this restaurant so I thought I’d give it a go. The waiter recommended the red wine beef stew which was delicious and as you can see from the photo a decent size. He also recommended a lovely red wine to accompany it. There was a great violin player adding more ambiance and I was so relaxed enjoying my evening I didn’t realise I was the last one in the restaurant. The staff did not make any indications for me to leave as they were tidying up. I would definitely return and recommend others to visit.
