This is the most amazing little place. Myself and my friend walked past on the way to the Central Market Hall and the lady in charge explained the menu to us, without being pushy. It looked amazing value so we decided to go back there...in the evening and we are so glad we did. There was live music and the musicians were taking requests. The lady showed us photos and explained the history of the place and the staff were so friendly and attentive. The decor is like a mini museum and all the artefacts have a story. We tried some of the authentic hungarian dishes and wine and were very impressed. Both me and my friend agreed that this was possibly our favourite restaurant ever. Before visiting Budapest we watched several travel vlogs and none of them mentioned this place. I hope someone covers it and gives it the attention it deserves. If we come back to Budapest we will definitely visit again. Thank you also to the waiter who helped us order our Bolt ride to the best area to experience the nightlife. We had a great evening as a result of his recommendation!More

Beautiful food and great service. Very quiet and no violinist. All very good value for money. Chicken Paprikash was excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Great food , BUT there is a violinist full time, who will drive you insane, He needs to go, either to the Royal academy of music or retrain

We went for the gypsy music and were very pleased with the violin and cimbalon (zither). Amazing Hungarian gypsy music and other genres. I asked for genuine Hungarian music and they played Bartok, Kodaly, Strauss and Brahms Hungarian dance 5. Wonderful. We ate mushroom stew...with spatzle (yum) and fruit filled dumplings, along with goulash, of course.More

I had the chicken with dumplings, my wife the Wiener schnitzel . The servings were large. My chicken was excellent. Very tender and flavorful. My wife enjoyed her large piece of schnitzel but said in could have been spicier. All in all we were happy...with our meals.More

Was there with my wife, food was really good, prices are a little high but ok for tourist area. Service was friendly and quick. The not so nice part came at the end. Waitress asked if we like to order a Schnaps or coffe after...the meal. I chose to have a Schnapps without asking for the price..stupid because it was nothing special but did cost 3050 Ft which is around 8 Euros... Next the waitress explained to me, that the service fee is not tipp for service, it is a tax thing. This is not true and I think a waitress knows that. So food is really good, but don't let them cheat you.More

We wanted to experience a traditional meal with “gypsy” music and this was a 5 star experience! The gentlemen on the violin and the cimbalon were very talented and entertained with out being annoying like we have experienced in Mexico. The meal was first rate....Try the paprika chicken and dumplings!More

Had a meal in Rustico last Wednesday evening after going to a classical music concert very near by at St Michaels church. This place is amazing the decor hasn't changed since it opened a long time ago. We had a table outside as it was...still very warm at 9pm. The menu has so much to choose from and the staff are welcoming, warm ,pleasant and speak excellent English. We only had a main course as portions are very generous, husband had beef red wine stew with potatoes and I chose local Hungarian sausage served with a bowl of sweetly pickled veg and sweet mustard, both were delicious. Rustico is in a pedestrianised street in an area full of small shops an loads of bars and all types of bars and restaurants, we can thoroughly recommend it you won't be disappointed.More

Service and location excellent. Our waiter was very affable and made great recommendations for wine to pair with our dinners. I had the thyme and chicken, hubby pork, and Hungarian potatoes. Presented beautifully, and both were delicious.

Best Goulash and Paprika Chicken Stew ever! Great fun waitress Nicoletta! It’s very close to the Central Market with outdoor space and AC indoors. Also, very good draft beer from Hungary and dark ale from Transylvania!
