We were referred to the Strudel House and had to try it. The appetizers were varied and flavorful a great starter. Then the schnitzel and goulash were tasty and have that Hungarian experience. But the strudel was perfect! Being the first strudel house has given...lots of experience that you can tell. The choices hit everyone's palet, we were told about the sour cherry poppyseed one and it popped with flavourful. A nice patio experience and delishish food.More

We ordered the Foie Gras with mashed potatoes. Was excellent. Also order the meat strudel. Very good. We also order a few pieces of strudel (Cherry, Apple, Apricot, and Plum). All were delicious, but especially the Cherry. Their Cortada was made perfectly. We returned to...take some home in a box. the only sour-note was that they charge extra for a bag when spending quite a lot on boxed strudel.More

My husband and I went to The Strudel House twice during our trip to Budapest. Great food and service. We especially liked the vegetable and the salon strudel. Veal paprika and venison stew were also very good. A bit pricey but worth it.

If you are walking the sites in central Pest, make a point to take a break in this strudel house. They have a full menu including Hungarian staples, but the strudel… you gotta try the strudel!

Excellent food & drink. Service a little off, not bad but rather ambivalent. It's worth a try but don't expect too much from the servers.

My sister and I had lunch here, with the Easter strudel (ham strudel) for our main, then for dessert sister had Carrot Cake strudel, while I had the apricot and cream one. OMG. Fabulous, flaky, and freakin' delicious. We ate outside, the only downside of...which is that people smoke, if you don't like smoking. Service was good, and our waiter spoke excellent English. Pro tip: have everyone order something different so you can taste more varieties. They also have really good beer!More

The restaurant is conveniently located a few minutes walk from St. Stephen's Basilica; I would recommend coming here if you have spent the day in Pest visiting Parliament and then the basilica. The best part of the restaurant is its design and location. It is...situated in a (relatively) quiet street within the City Centre and has a very classical look...it felt like what I imagine 1950s Budapest resembled. Highly recommended if you are seeking that sort of experience! The food was good (if unspectacular). I would say that the food was slightly pricey relative to its quality and portion sizes, compared to other locations which I have eaten at within Budapest. But that is just me being picky...I would definitely come here again but perhaps for lunch rather than dinner. Their specialty is the various varieties of strudel which they have available. There is live strudel making on show which was very interesting to see! Overall, I would say the restaurant is definitely a good place to visit for the dining experience but the food is average.More

We visited this place during our Budapest visit. We had foie grad and different strudels such as curd with apricot, sour cherries and apples with poppyseed accompanied with beer and orange juice. Everything was delicious and additional to taste we could see how they make...strudels.More

Delicious food, lovely staff and great setting! Also good value. I recommend the goulash and you can get a small portion if needed. A must do when in Budapest.

This is such a good authentic restaurant with plenty of local heritage. We had a sharing platter for our main which was delicious, very good quality food and a sizable portion. Highly recommend

This is an atmospheric cafe and restaurant and obviously the place to go for strudel! The only reason this didn’t get five stars is that there are some very rude waiters there, which is sad as there’s one or two that really make the effort...to be friendly! Would definitely recommend the Apple strudel!More

It is nice to have lunch here, food is correct. Service is friendly and the restaurant has character. The strudel is rather a small piece and can not compete with the Austrian strudel.
