A very underwhelming meal of bland food accompanied by cliched music (sadly performed live). The catfish soup was frozen and should have been left at the bottom of the Danube. The veal in the goulash was poor quality and the noodles tasted like I had...made them - from plasticine. Nice wine though.More

We were happy to find this restaurant just a few steps away from our hotel in Budapest. We went early (5pm) due to early flights the next morning, and the restaurant was quite accommodating. Take their recommendations on both food and wine - they didn't...steer us wrong! Prices were medium - not tourist gouging but not a bargain either. A great way to experience an authentic Hungarian meal. I would go back!More

This restaurant was recommended to us by our hotel concierge. It was within walking distance, not bad in the heat wave, over 100! We were pleasantly surprised by the Hungarian gypsy trio playing wonderful traditional music, as well as Sinatra era American classics. And the...food! We started with an excellent creamy flavorful gazpacho and refreshing sparkling water. Husband then had a unique potato pancake that was really more of a crepe, filled with mostly vegetables. He said it was incredible! I tried a bite and it really was 😋! Everything was fresh, chef is outstanding. We had never had Hungarian food and are now huge fans!More

A splendid traditional restaurant. Just a bit away from the busy area. Nice atmosphere. Loistava paikka vähän hienompaan perinneruokailuun.

We stumbled into this beautiful restaurant at 6 pm and it had everything we wanted—a beautiful ambience, great service, amazing live music. I had the cabbage rolls—and they were perfect. My husband enjoyed the pork tenderloin with a paprika risotto—also perfect. We will return for...our final mel in Budapest—a little more dressed up next time! What a beautiful dining experience!More

We had a wonderful evening at this attractive old restaurant. It oozed character. Everybody was so friendly and the traditional Hungarian food and drinks all tasted good and were excellent value. Best of all though was the wonderful musical quartet, which made an already enjoyable...meal memorable.More

I enjoyed having two wonderful meals here during my visit to Budapest in April 2022. The staff and the food is unsurpassed! The nightly Hungarian orchestra does a splendid job for entertainment. Reservations I would advise.

On a monday evening we went here for dinner. We started with a tartar (tatár friss zöldségekkel). Then we had somloi galuska, borjupaprikás and töltött káposzta, which was all very good. A stylish place, tucked away in a court yard, highly recommended! On weekend days...there can be live music, and reservations might then be necessary.More

My favourite Euro capital city. Friendly, laid back people wearing elegant non-branded casual clothes. Concert in St Stephen's Basilica followed by a meal in the garden of Karolyi .. my favourite too!

Went to the Karolyi restaurant on a recommendation for stuffed cabbage. Service was excellent. Food was excellent. Piano player very enjoyable. Price was certainly reasonable. Will recommend to any on going to Pest.

Based on reviews we booked this restaurant for our NYs Eve dinner. Venue is nice has a charming old fashioned feel and the staff efficient and polite. Live music was great. The food however like much of the city center tourist area was a big...let down. The soup course tasted shop bought with a single floating tortellini. The fish course was better but was served bizarrely with an accompanying single cooked small shrimp. The meat course was the best part of the meal, despite the nouvelle cuisine meat portion. The dessert reminded me off something l got for school dinners. A patisserie bought tart would have been better! All this for a hefty 65/75 euro. Most guests seemed to be tourists so no effort needed as they won’t be back. It’s a real shame that good food in this beautiful city is so difficult to find even with a hefty price tagMore

I was here for lunch. The food was a classic throwback to traditional old school Hungarian cuisine. It might be bit more expensive then usual but the atmosphere was worth it. Had Goulash pancake that was very 80s and heavy.

The venue is great, in a park. It looks old fashion, but the food was very tastful and the price reasonable. The waiters were very helpful. This is a restaurant were you have to go when you want to experience Hungarian food!

No, the restaurant is closed on December 24, 25, and 26. However, they have what seems to be a fabulous menu, at a fabulous price, for NY's eve.
