Having lived in the Middle East, I can honestly confirm that Byblos’s cuisine is absolutely authentic, wonderfully tasty and very importantly its high quality is consistent each time.
The ambiance is super spacious, the decor is not too heavy, very pleasing to the eyes and seating is very comfortable.
The team lead by Chef Osama is the best in the class, kind, attentive, each time it feels like arriving into someone’s home and being taken care like a family member, especially by Khaled.
Go with empty tummy.... as you want to try everything including desert 😊

We were greeted once we entered, we sat down not knowing what to order. The main waiter "Khaled" helped us by talking us through the menu and decided to give us a food-trip with foods from all over Lebanon.
Hands down, the best food selection we've ever had.
Do NOT miss this one whilst on your travels around Budapest.

When I looked at the menu, I realized there were not many options for a vegetarian. Probably a vegan has even less options. Thus, maybe the meat dishes are great, but it is a bit sad that most mezze' had meat. My husband made a big mistake. He probably forgot that ingredients...or at least some, need to be imported, He ordered an olive salad, and olives do not grow in Hungary. He was disappointed as they tasted as some low-brand commercial olives we find in Italy, not as good oriental olives. They probably were out of a jar, but what can you do in the middle of the Pannonian plain where, until climate change scorches the Middle East and Italy and makes warm Central Europe (and what will we do at that stage? I wonder) olive trees do not grow? You must have olives shipped in a jar!
The Hummus is excellent, albeit a bit "heavy" (thick and rich). The bread is very good (much better than the pitta at TLV, so, this is a plus...). Falafel, very good. And buckwheat (burgul) so yummy!
The ambience is nice, it is very old Europe with a zest of Middle East, and on Friday evening we were graced by lve music. Not loud, just a background. I really appreciated it. And the waiters are kind. They speak good English and try to accommodate your wishes as best they could.
Please book, or you may not find a table. It is very popular and they actually accommodated us with a "makeshift" table. People in Budapest tend to eat relatively late with respect to Australians or Americans, it is more like in Italy...8:30. So, if you wish to eat earlier, book for 7-7:30. It is still kind of quiet and maybe you'll find a spot.
As in other restaurants, please note that the service is included in your bill.
Overall, the experience was positive. Budapest offers quite a lot in terms of good food. And there are a lot of Middle Eastern restaurants. Byblos is worth a visit. And, for Australian and US standards it is not expensive.

I can understand the good reviews as this place has a great vibe & ambience. But I agree with a previous review that rated the food little better than a kebab shop. The starter was fine but the main course arrived before we had finished it & wasn’t taken away despite our raised eyebrows. On settling the bill & complaining it was explained to us that this was normal for the chef ie a cultural thing. As a result we were unable to do justice to the main course & had finished the whole meal in under an hour.
The chicken kebab main course was charcoal grilled to death so extremely dry. Again on complaining, the waiter readily deducted it from the bill & also gave a complimentary baklava sweet so I’ll give credit for the response.
However, a disappointing evening from a highly rated restaurant. We fared much better in local Hungarian bistros much more lowly rated on TA.

The food was very good and mouthwatering and what impressed me was the service done by the server Abdullah he was very friendly and made me feel at home he was well mannered and made sure I was comfortable. He also was very professionalized at his skill of serving food and enquiring about the feedback of the service. He was very polite and also had very good recommendations as I am new to trying the Lebanese cuisine. I would highly recommend going to the restaurant.

A Hungarian friend recommended we try Byblos & we are extremely glad we did. After the first visit we were hooked & ended up going a second time during our 7 week stay. Both times the food & service were outstanding. The appetizers of cheese in filo pastry (Cheese Sambousak) & shrimp in harra sauce (Karides Harra) were wonderful. The Lamb Kofta & the Kebab Khashkash were fantastic. For dessert, the Kunafa (large enough to share!) was one of the best Kunafa we've ever had.
During each visit, the service was excellent & Khaled really went out of his way to ensure we enjoyed our meal & dining experience. Since one of us is a bit of an insomniac, Khaled even recommend a particular Lebanese beverage thought to aid a good night's sleep.
After visiting Budapest more than 20 times since 2000, we can honestly say Byblos is our favorite non-Hungarian restaurant. We are already looking forward to dining there during our next trip to Budapest!
Byblos is very popular so reservations are definitely recommended.

Was really excited to eat here because the reviews are so good. We got there and although we had reserved there was no table that had been set for us and we had to wait ten minutes to be given a food or drinks menu. Service was bad from start to finish. Food was good however so that’s what saved it. We also saw one of the waiters seated with his friends and having shisha while we struggled to get served all night.
Booked a table for two last night and they confirmed our reservation so I assumed it was all ok. Didn’t check my emails the rest of the day and saw that they had emailed us to say that the kitchen closes at 10 on a Friday. We then had to try and find a new restaurant which was a struggle on a Friday night - was partly my fault but they should not have confirmed a seating for 10pm when that’s when their kitchen closes. Also tonight when we decided to give them another chance we saw two people seated and eating at 10:30.

Visited with a group of friends recently, we had an absolute great time. The food was superb, Istvan, our waiter exceptional, the whole ambiance of the restaurant was very cozy, we didn't want to leave :) Everything we ate and Istvan recommended was extremely delicious, it was great to try Lebanese wine as well.
Highly recommend, cannot wait to visit again.

We tried to get a table on both Friday and Saturday evening but they were fully booked so we ended up visiting for Sunday lunch. From the start all the staff were exceptional helpful and polite, giving us lots of attention. We had the mezze which gave us a good selection of tasty food with plenty of pita. All dishes were well-presented and fresh. The upstairs room was spacious and attractively decorated. It was a lovely place to eat and I recommend it.

One of my all time favorite restaurants. The restaurant offers amazing food at reasonable price, and we were amazed by the wonderful staff at the restaurant. We were especially impressed by Lamis' commitment, who often anticipated our needs without us needing to ask.

My family and I had the good fortune to eat some of the most delicious food we have had in Budapest, and we have lived here for many years. Byblos is the most welcoming and charming restaurant, you can feel at home here with something for everyone. We ordered a tasting mezzeh on our waiter Istvan’s suggestion and it did not disappoint - every little dip packs a punch of flavour guaranteed to put a smile on your face. And if it doesn’t then the atmosphere surely will. The main courses also fantastic and perfect portion sizes. If you’re a meat lover then the lamb will have you salivating for more, and if you’re vegetarian I can highly recommend the hummus fetteh which is to die for. I cannot fault Byblos and could talk about it all day, but I would rather just go back, and let them do all the talking while I take care of the eating. I look forward to going back again and again!

We went there twice while on a week long stay in Budapest. The staff was so kind and attentive, made you feel very welcome. Our first time Khaled explained the menu, helped us with a bunch of delicious appetizers and then joked around with my husband about his middle eastern background. They seemed to have a lot in common! Our second trip we were helped by Rahaf and Issam, both were kind, helpful and very informative! Anything on the menu is amazing, but our favorite were tabouleh, beirut hummus, kibbeh appetizer, grilled lamb and lots and lots of bread!

My sisters and I had dinner here in our final night in Budapest after visiting on holiday from London and the meal we had here has now become our favourite memory of visiting Budapest. From the moment we arrived we were treated exceptionally. The starters, mains and desserts were delicious. We tried the mixed grill, Beirut hummus, the Byblos fattoush salad, the baklava, kanafe and chocolate fondant. Everything was exquisite. We were so pleasantly surprised by the staff, the chef, the team working hard together and seamlessly to make our meal and experience at the restaurant a success. Many thanks to Issam our main waiter who was so attentive, helpful and professional throughout our time there. We were also helped by Umar who made some excellent recommendations throughout and helped us as well as humorous moments from Boti too. I can’t wait to return to Budapest and eat here again! I’d love to eat in a place like this in London.

Must visit if you’re in Budapest. All the seating rather it be outside or upstairs is a great setting for a date or a casual dinner. The food was all so well prepared, and flavorful. Started with a falafel and grilled halluomi cheese, both were served fresh after preparation. The falafel had a perfect tenderness and the halluomi with grapes and jam was such a perfect balance. Main course I had the mixed meat and it was cooked to a tender perfection. The meat was well seasoned and the spices/sauce that came with were a great accommodation. Service was friendly as well. Hope to visit again if in the area.

Just came back from our visit to Byblos and I can recommend to anyone who loves an honest product. The food was outstanding. We have ordered 2x cold mezzanine which was the eggplant and mohammra paste- both especially the second one was wonderful. Then we have shared a lamb with tahini sauce and tomato ( kofte) which was also like nothing I ate before and me and my husband are both aware of that cuisine. The setting itself is beautiful and very Lebanese. Restaurant is very clean. You will not regret going there. 12 procent service charge though and that goes for lots of the places in Budapest😊
