We had a wonderful experience at Laurel Budapest. Bookstore and coffee shop by day, Michelin restaurant by night and it was an extremely enjoyable evening. We started upstairs with three small, delicious appetizers before we were taken downstairs and placed in a perfect spot where...we could watch all the magic happen in the kitchen. Our servers were delightful and explained every course in wonderful English and all the courses were exceptional – especially their signature dish which was a brioche with water buffalo, peanut, and sudachi kosho flavors from Hungary, France, and Japan – absolutely amazing! We were then taken back upstairs for our desserts and we finished the evening with two lovely Hungarian aperitifs that made a perfect end to our lovely meal.More

We went to celebrate our anniversary and had a great time at Laurel! We had different tasting menus, the classic and the vegetarian, respectively, and we were truly spoiled by the avalanche of flavours, combinations and delights. The only tiny minus was that the menu...was too ambitious for a 2-hour stretch, we were quite fool at the wnd of the evening. The owners may consider either smaller portions or less items.More

Visited Laurel very recently with my husband and we had an amazing experience. They run a super exciting fusion of Asian cusine, using the best local ingredients. It is truly a great way of exploring Hungarian products via dishes that you actually know from elsewhere....Service was equally perfect, the way they present their dishes is second to none. Each and every pesonnel coming to our table was super knowledgable and their passion for the food is exemplary. Peter the sommelier is one of the best I have seen. Conclusion: Michelin star!!! Highly recommended!More

This place easily gave my wife and I the best dinner of our trip through Europe, and we were lucky enough to eat at some amazing places. From eating the snack course on the main floor to enjoying the full meal downstairs, each course brought...something new and harmonius. The staff thoughtfully explained each dish in a way that was very casual and friendly. High-level fine dining but incredibly approachable with zero snobbery. They also have a top notch pastry chef who is just as heavy a hitter as the main chef. We had a hard time choosing which course was our favorite. The wine pairings went perfectly with each dish. And they have a carefully curated play-list of some excellent hip hop music playing low in the background. This is the one place we would unquestionably come back to everytime we are in town.More

An amazing experience at Laurel! We had the amuse bouche and petit four in the upper level lounge, while in between an 8 course dinner was served in the main restaurant in the cellar. We truly enjoyed the surprising Hungarian-Japanese fusion kitchen. The ambiance of...the venue was elegant, but friendly and relaxing. The service was at good pace with attention to details. I recommend Laurel to everyone who wish to spend a splendid and high quality evening with loved ones.More

We enjoyed 5-courses menú for dinner, adapted with some gluten-free dishes, paired with Hungarian wines. Unforgettable experience, to highlight the knowledge and availability of the sommelier to comment each wine. It is worth the price.

Amazing experience! Ordered the Vegan Menu and it was incredibly delicious. Rebarbara with raspberry and oat was the only course that was a bit weird for me. We will definitely visit again!

It was an exclusive event for club members only. The restaurant offers wine tresors for rent and only the renters were invited. The head sommelier introduced a riesling row; excellent bottles from Hungary, Austria, Germany, France and from the new world. The Chèf created an...outstanding menu. It was just perfect.More

5 reason that made for us Laurel 5 star; 1. first impression friendly welcome and cozy interior 2. professional food and wine presentation without any tension 3. all courses contains thousand of flavours, which all harmonize with each other showing new, unexpected taste combination 4....one restaurant, two location which give you an extra experience, without sitting in one place through the night 5. very friendly, smiley and "open-eared" staff, who make your dessert as a birthday cake, when they hear you celebrate it today :) Thank you all!More

The setting is very cozy at start and then you get to see the kitchen in action which adds to the ambient of the experience. The starters were absolutely fantastic. The main courses were good but were basically a rice ball w/ salad & a...hummus plate (still delicious but too simple). Having said that, the dessert absolutely blew us away (who thinks of black sesame Mille-feuille!). The service was very attentive and the staff were welcoming and friendly throughout. Our only point of improvement would be the portions which were relatively large for a 10+ course tasting menu (we were quite stuffed by the end). Would definitely recommend trying this place out for a very interesting take on Asian fusion cuisine.More

The staff was very kind and made us feel comfortable. The interior felt like being invited at a friends house while also being served. This was one of the finest cuisines i have ever tasted. Every ingredient in every course was well-thought of and refreshing....This restaurant is also suitable for vegans. I took the plant-based menu and it tasted amazing. The first 3 courses are served upstairs. After those, you get escorted downstairs for the next courses until right before the end. Lastly, you can enjoy a fine plate of bonbons and a coffee/tea upstairs before you leave. Just a tip: don’t eat before you visit Laurel. I had the 12 course dinner and it was just a bit too much for me, but the staff let us skip 2 main courses and jump to dessert and even gave us a discount. I would 100% recommend visiting Laurel. The experience is definitely worth your money.More
