I came back after 2 years and found the place rather unchanged. A small simple two-level restaurant with brick walls. Waiters have to run up and down the steps, which may hamper the quality of the service on first floor. Quality of food is very...More
This was a return visit and it did not disappoint. The staff are attentive and informative, the food excellent and the wine list genuinely representative of what is best in Hungary, with many wines available by the glass.
Fantastic place. Stopped in for a drink because it's a lot more open and welcoming than some of the bars nearby. Ended up staying for lunch. As is well reviewed, the wine selection is really great, but also one of the best G&Ts ive had...More
Delicious food (beef with aubergine cream, aubergines with spicy [not spicy] tomato sauce, and crème brûlée). Service was good with great English, and there was a nice atmosphere - both wine bar and restaurant vibe.
We had lunch here & it was a nice experience. Food was good & wholesome. Staff was nice. Restaurant had a warm & cosy feel about it. Enjoyed the Goose liver, Chicken Supreme, Risotto & Red Cabbage Cream soup.
Having visited Budapest several times, I have visited most of the recommended places. I found this place without any recommendations but it looked ok. It was far better than ok. The standard menu was a mix of local favourites alongside more unusual blends of ingredients...More
Borbíróság was one of our biggest highlights of our visit to Budapest, and I’d say one of my top 10 restaurants that I’ve had the pleasure to eat at.

Went there for dinner twice but we were only staying round the corner at the Hostel (same building). It seemed fairly quiet at lunchtimes and I would not imagine any difficulty with children. There is outside seating also which would be OK if the weather is fine. Always best to check when they are open in case a reservation is needed. There are food stalls inside the Central Market opposite which are always interesting. The Internet Cafe on the other side of the street is a friendly place also.
