The owner is a very warm, welcoming host, who gave us an elaborate explanation of his delicious food. He also seemed to know quite a lot about his, mostly hungarian, wines. We got to taste multiple wines in order to choose our favourite one, to combine with our meals. Both the meals and the wines were great. The cherry on... More

Borsso Bistro is a great restaurant located off the beaten path. The drinks, wine, food (prixe fixe - local dishes) were an excellent bargain. Cost (including tip) was approximately $140 USD for two. You can also order ala carte. Service was very good. I would go back.

What a gem of a find. The best food we had in Budapest, beautifully presented and absolutely stellar desserts. Unobtrusive yet warm, attentive service made this the highlight dining experience of our trip. Live guitar music was wonderful.

Went with a group of seven others and there were no complaints. The ox cheek dishes got very high marks from everyone. The daily pasta with duck breast got mixed reviews, in that the pasta and sauce was exceptional but the breast meat was dry and chewy. Jenny, our waitress, was both delightful and helpful in choosing our wines. Our... More

It was excellent. Good guitar music just played by a couple. I ordered a marinated salmon, which was perfect. Ask for wine recommendation and had a glass of Carbenet Sauvignon private label Borssó from Balaton region. Main course was rabbit leg Hunter style and it was delicious, as well. Highly recommended!

One of the best restaurants in Budapest. The wine selection is perfect. The wines are selected from Hungary's best wineries. The chafe and the stuff is doing an excellent job every evening! I have visited this place a lot of times and always have a perfect evening.

We had a lovely dining experience at Borosso Bistro at the weekend. After walking through side streets to get to the bistro it seemed 'off the beaten track' but are we glad we went? - absolutely. The welcome on arrival, taking our coats to hang up,the two guitarists playing blue/ soul music with a real buzz/ vibe set the scene.... More

Ignore any of the negative comments - this place is amazing. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle it offers superb food and service and live jazz guitarists. It was so good on our first time that we booked in for the next night. The head waiter is utterly charming and is more than happy to answer questions about the... More

Excellent food, very fresh ingredients, good value, friendly service, try the pork chop with mushrooms. Near the National Museum. Recommended.

Quite simply this place is overpriced. Our meal was quite simple but we felt that the poor value for money undermined the experience. There is nothing wrong with the food or service but it was not outstanding enough in the context of this city to warrant the prices. You can do better.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
