This is very different to some of the pretentious and expensive Italian places in Budapest, and although I’m a big fan of other places like Pomo D’oro (which is also excellent), I do rather like places like this because they are so homely, informal, and...attentive. The food is as good as you can expect. The prices are moderate. This is an example of a well-run Italian with great attention to detail, and doesn’t break the bank. I could easily visit this place often!More

We had a nice place outside and the food (mussels, pizza, risotto) was really good! (5/5 for the kitchen!) Prices are a bit more expensive but that's probably due to the (nice) location. However the waiters seemed cold and were not very friendly. They never...asked us if we wanted anything else or asked if everything is fine. In general there tone with us and even more with some other guests was very annoyed. With service like that you get the impression you are not welcomed there.More

The restaurant is a very good combination of Italian and local kitchen. We tasted dishes from both, the results was very nice. I liked the goose liver and the tasty goulash soup. The chili oil it’s a plus for making the food spicy!

One of my regular restaurants with really good food and lemonade! Service is quick and efficient, but if you want your waiters to be smiling and chatty, you’ll often be disappointed here. Still, I’d recommend.

I ate in the restaurant today with foreign freinds and family. The waiter - fat guy with beard - was very unfriendly. At the beginning not what he said but how he said, later even what he said: “ok, so one more bear. Anything else?...Are you sure???” - he lift his tone. We all were surprised. I thought the more we eat/drink the happier they are, but here it’s clearly not the case... Then the kitchen staff started to smoke next to our table. (We were with babies...) So I checked the menu for the restaurant manager. I found the name - Krisztian Bartyik - and quickly checked on facebook. He was also working together with the other waiter even were discussing some personal stories with rude words, so I decided to post here this story as I don’t know where else to complain...More

Situated between the Ferris Wheel and the St Stephen Basilica don’t be fooled by Trattoria Mamma’s touristy location. Comfotrtable and Casual, Trattoria Mamma has a local feel and an authentic Italian vibe with both indoor and outdoor (weather permitting) seating. I can’t comment on the...Pizza – which a lot of folks seem to order - but I can comment on the only thing I order – the Fettucine Gorgonzola Pasta. Both Trattoria Mamma and the Fettuccine Gorgonzola dish were recommended me by a work colleague – and neither disappoints. The Fettuccine Gorgonzola comes with Sun dried tomatoes and Parma Ham. But for a vegetarian treat I always substitute mushrooms for the ham. The mushrooms are fresh and plentiful. The sun dried tomatoes are wonderful, but if you prefer extra – just ask your server. And speaking of servers, I am usually greeted and served by Krisztian – he is one of the best. Always smiling, always friendly, Krisztian seats me at my usual table (when available), and knows what my order is without even handing me a menu. The glass of Chianti always arrives at the right temperature (slightly chilled) and the bread served with the Chili Oil, Garlic Oil, and Parmesan cheese is heavenly. Tip – be sure to add a bit of the Chili Oil to the Fettuccine for a zesty kick! I have been to Budapest multiple times for work since August 2018, and I usually visit Trattoria Mamma multiple times during my periodic visits. So do yourself a favor when you are in the mood for great, authentic, Italian food and service, and check out Trattoria Mamma.More

This Italian restaurant was recommended by the hotel concierge and did not disappoint. We had pizza and a spinach and mozzarella lasagne for our evening meal. Both were really excellent and good value. Many locals were eating here which usually indicates that food is consistently...good. We would definitely eat there again if we return to Budapest.More
