We only happened upon this place because we had reservations somewhere else and felt it was too hot and crowded for a relaxing and enjoyable meal. We passed this restaurant on the way back to the hotel (where we were going to ask the concierge for a recommendation), checked out he menu and decided to stay. It was truly pure... More

Reasonable service, yet not particularly attentive. Our bad, in that we took the advice of the concierge at the Gresham Palace Four Seasons. Not that we don't believe that he was attempting to direct us to a place we would enjoy, however, we were disappointed to say the least. I have to believe that there are other restaurants that could... More

We were all tired and wanted somewhere close. The concierge recommended Tigris. It is fairly small and cozy with superb attention to detail. Our waiter could not have improved his service nor his recommendations for dinner

While staying in Budapest and based upon Trip Adviser reviews, we decided to eat at Tigris Restaurant. We dined early so it was not busy. We are impressed with the service and the food. The waiter kept saying it wasn't usually that quiet, but we were happy that is wasn't. Worth going to,

A Budapest institution that has won many awards and rightly so. The foie gras selections were out of this world and matched with great local wines. Service could be improved.

Not as delicious as expensive. 4 times expensive wine as market price. Sommelier better than offered wine

There were 5 of us sharing appetizers which were quite good but were disappointed with the main courses. Prices were slightly on the high side - for Hungary pricing.

This restaurant is located just two blocks away from St. Stephen's basilica and Ritz-Carlton and Kempinski hotel. The restaurant, Michelen guide recommendated, has very good food and not the least attentive servants. The prizes are in the upper scale (from a Hungarian perspective), but very reasonable from "western" Europe perspective. We went there twice due to those qualities.

We had a good evening here with the opportunity to have very good wines by the glass. The service was attentive though the negative comments of one waiter about London's multi cultural nature was rather inappropriate. My husband loved his meal. A pea soup enlivened by hints of ginger followed by sea bass. I found my cauliflower soup had wandered... More

Excellent traditional interior, fantastic traditional food cooked with haute cuisine twist (e.g. deconstructed cheesecake) style and finally very knowledgeable, pleasant and polite staff. Definitely try foie gras specialties. Can be highly recommented

Thank cviju

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
