the restaurant is inconspicuous from the outside, located a little distance from the center towards the island. My wife and I visited twice at lunch. It turned out to be quite comfortable, delicious, cozy and basic at a reasonable price. The day menu includes soup, main course, salad and dessert. And you can take the supplement. Pleasant waiters who speak English, restaurant design in wood, retro, present mainly local older people. The dishes are simple but delicious. Moreover, there is a large selection of fairly good wines. For us two lunch menus + 2 glasses of wine = 7000-8000 forints. I recommend to visit.

It’s not clear how old this place is, but it has a charmingly antique, traditional feel: nice wooden panelling, old tables and chairs and lots of interesting old stuff on the walls. These places are disappearing fast in Budapest. The menu has the Hungarian favourites - I had borju páprikas with dumplings and sour cream. With a korsó of beer and coffee, the bill came to HUF 6,100. And being the last of the big spenders, I left HUF 7,000. When I arrived at lunchtime, I almost left because of the loud radio. But the waitress cheerfully agreed to turn it right down.

This is a fantastic Hungarian restaurant. We visited it for the first time in autumn 2022 and returned in September 2023. They serve the best goulash in the world and have a good selection of Hungarian dishes. The venue is very nice and the service is top class. The icing on the cake is the pianist who plays there at weekends - an absolutely wonderful experience. The atmosphere is indescribable.

The food was dry, overcooked too fat and not fresh. It was heated in the microwave, absolutely dead and tasteless. The waiter stood and lied aggressively and shamelessly that the food was fresh probably considering I'm an idiot and cannot distinguish fresh, crispy and warm fried potatoes from the cold wet mess they served me. Of course they refused to take any responsibility and charged me for that. Total scam, avoid this place!!

I recently visited this restaurant and was quite disappointed with the experience. The quality of the food fell far below my expectations – it lacked flavor and seemed poorly prepared. Additionally, the staff's demeanor was far from welcoming. Their interactions felt forced and lacked genuine warmth, making the service feel insincere. Unfortunately, this visit did not meet the standards I anticipated.

I've lived in the area of the restaurant for 5 years and finally decided to give it a try. I went two times, to really test it out, because I really liked the atmosphere. Sadly it's very underwhelming. The food just doesn't taste fresh, and it's actually quite flavorless. And everything is so overpriced. For the high prices, the food should be superior quality. Service was OK but nothing to make me want to go back there a third time.

We found this place by coincidence when all other restaurants in the area had closed their kitchen already. We had such a nice evening. The service was outstanding and the experience so authentic. The dining room is in an old style, almost museum like with many objects to discover on the walls etc. While we were eating two guests started playing the piano and the violin, they were amazing musicians and we could not believe how nice it was. A real hungarian experience far from the tourist traps. And yes, food was great too!

After a boat trip from dock 42 near the flipper museum Under the radar...Super meal and service . Traditional Hungarian..food was well cooked a small error with an order was quickly rectified. Some excellent beer, wine and shots! The plumb and apricot ones were excellent. 100% recommend you won't regret it !

I write the review in english so more people undersrand. I ordered the sztrapacska and got basic nokedli ( dumplings ). My dish did not have ANY brindza in it and was swimming in tomato (?) sauce. It was not bad per se, but it definitely was NOT sztrapacska. The ham had greasy fat chunks that were bigger than the cubed ham. What a disappointment.

I ordered half of the goulash since standard portions are usually very large. But when they brought me my half portion of goulash, I was speechless - it was a 200-250 ml cup. (i.e. the volume of an ordinary glass of water) 😱👎, and the bread was not “homemade”, but an ordinary factory loaf. Cost 6.5 euros. For such a quantity of goulash it is expensive. I don't recommend it.

Very good typical Hungarian cuisine, very good traditional dishes. I went to the restaurant for dinner, it was a very welcoming place. There was no live music in the evening. We ordered large goulash, very filling and with lots of meat and duck leg with roasted mashed potatoes and caramelized onions, excellent dishes. The place is not very touristy, we found a place easily. The friendly staff. I highly recommend it.

Cosy and intimate atmosphere with live piano music Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. It's an authentic Hungarian cafe with a great selection of classic Hungarian dishes. I can personally recommend the roast duckleg, mash & red cabbage. Their roasted pork knuckle with potatoes is outstandingly good. One of the children opted for a crumbed chicken schnitzel which was so big it hung over all sides of the very large plate! A small well-stocked bar area caters for all tastes. Recommended unreservedly. I'd eat there every day if I could. Family friendly with ENGLISH spoken if your Hungarian speech is sub optimal. Menu is bilingual.

Place with a beautiful atmosphere, live music, excellent food. We had a duck leg with potatoes and purple cabbage and then a goulash (the large portion). Both very good (especially the duck). We spent €32.70 for two with two bottles of water. Definitely approved.

My wife, daughter and I found this place very much by chance. We were hoping to find a nice local restaurant that wasn't touristy. Well, we found that and more at Firkasz. The atmosphere was authentic, the food was delicious and the service was fantastic. Our waitress, Bucci (spelling is a guess), was very friendly helpful and warm. The goulash soup we all had was delicious as was the the appetizers and dessert. We highly recommend Firkasz!

The place is typical Hungarian, the waitress was also nice but the wait was endless. More than an hour to wait. We asked for bread for soup and he brought it to everyone except us. I can't classify the food... after an intense day and an exhausting wait, I honestly couldn't even enjoy it. I absolutely wouldn't go back.
