There are so many great place to eat in Budapest and the street food is brilliant. Onyx is too expensive, and not on Michelin level.

Onyx, although pricey (expected of a Michelin star restaurant) is a great dining experience that is worth every penny. The staff were attentive and the seven course taster dinner is recommended for sampling everything Onyx has to offer.

A recent early July dinner arranged for 30'members of the Int. WIne &Food Soc.received uniformly high accolades for the seven course tasting dinner at Onyx, which was compliments by six wines-- three being significantly different iterations of the indigenous Tokay grape.. THe Hungarian wine "industry" has flourished since the communist occupation, and many varieties of tokay wines will shortly be exported to... More

The service i have to say, is incredible. Service on that night was that of a 2-michellin star standard with constant attentiveness and having a little fun and chat with servers here and there. They were fluent in english and could explain everything they served to detail. Being a very meticulous customer i want to know everything from top to... More

We had lunch at onyx, 10 friends. Amazing food and wonderful service. The lunch menu was only 27 euro so we very happy with the price also :) Notice that the tip is INCLUDED in the final check (15%)

It was an amazing time at Onyx where the food and wine was unbelievable. In cozy yet classy surroundings, we tried the lunch menu accompanied by their carefully selected wines. Everything about the visit was professional in detail so the Michelin star is well deserved. Highly recommended - book your table well in advance.

This was one of the most elegant and delicious meals I have had. The service is exemplary, with a staff ratio of 1 staff members to every two guests (Including kitchen staff). The food was incredible, and very sophisticated. We had the Hungarian Evolution Menu with the wine pairing. The wines were perfectly paired with each course and provided an... More

Do go there if you LOVE food. Do go there if you can appreciate the tasting menus-which can take up to more than three hours. This is clearly a unique experience which must be savoured to its best. Be careful in case you choose an eight course menu, for example, you actually end up by tasting around 18 small dishes,... More

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
