5 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

My wife took me here for my birthday yesterday. As we are both foodies we already had the luck to try all of the previous star restaurants in Hungary and I must say this is the best! I absolutely love how they use traditional Hungarian dishes like the Goulash soup, using pogácha and kifli's in their bread basket. Both sommeliers... More

We were planning to have lunch at another Michelin restaurant. Not Onyx. By sheer misdirection, we landed up at Onyx. Hence, discovering the absolutely talented & Creative Tamás Széll !! He respects his food & he truly loves his food. It reminded me of Japanese Omakase. We had the 6-course menu aptly named " Hungarian Evolution" : 1. Goose, Liver,... More

This has to be the best de gestation I have ever eaten. Starting with the bread trolley filled to capacity with every imaginable type of bread on offer. The Hungarian wines paired with exquisite flavours of the delectly plated produce activated all my senses. They gave us extra free starts and finishers.

I booked this for my husband for his birthday and we chose the chefs menu with the wine pairing. Both food and wine was delicious and the service was excellent. We are planning another trip and will definitely be visiting again :)

We went on a surprisingly unbusy Friday lunch and had a wonderful time with the 6 course and wine pairing. Service was first class and food was very very good. Wine was very well paired to the food, in every instance adding to both the wine and the food which is what you want and better that you often get.... More

We went as a group of 3 friends. Reservation was easy to obtain. Decor was great. Staff was more than professional. Presentation of food was amazing. We all ordered the tasting menu, and two bottles of wine, and the amount of food was ridiculous. We left not hungry for three days. The only minus star is that half of the... More

I came for lunch with my husband. The setting is nice but their food didn't follow. We were hoping for a great meal as we heard that they got into the 1st 10 in Bocuse d'or. The dishes had too many mixes of flavours that didn't match at all. The service level was very low. The wine we ordered never... More

Great views and very pleasant service seated along the Danube. There are far less expensive places around, in the inner city, but for a couple drinks and a great view it can't be beat.

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
