Lovely Japanese restaurant on the square facing the Basalica. Extensive drink and food menu with interesting offerings. They were kind enough to give us a table right (by the rest rooms)without a reservation on a Friday evening. (Reservations seem to be a requirement in Budapest...even when a restaurant doesn’t seem busy, both lunch and dinner). The meal was very nice however it all went down hill when the bill was presented. Bill included service charge which was fine. However the waiter did not bring back the change. We waited 10 mins and then asked him about the change. He seemed surprised to be asked. Another 5 minutes went by and we got up to leave when he arrived with the change - in coins. It was embarrassing considering it was a considerable amount. Almost like he was trying to insult us. Budapest has been a lovely city but the service and hospitality almost everywhere (except at our hotel) has been appalling. Sad.More

I was impressed with the serving and presentation of the food in Japanika . It was complete and tasty. I love the food here and highly recommend tourist to eat here

My wife and me went to eat in Japanika at the afternoon. The Prices was very very high. The sushi was bad, almoat uneatble. I told the waitress about and she didnt care. And also at the end she laid about the service tip She...said it was not included in the bill but it was. So we gave a double tip for nothing. Bad service, bad food, bad prices . BAD EXPERINCE.More

In warm weather on the outdoor terrace you’re in for a treat. The restaurant overlooks Budapest’s spectacular Basilica and its surrounding beautiful, pedestrianised square. Terrific sushi and wakame. With drinks, including beer, wine and delicious raspberry lemonade, the bill came to HUF 22,678 (about A$75)...for two. Excellent friendly service.More

Really bad service. And not nice people.. ordered T.A- took us too long to find a waiter that retreat us and take our order and than onther 50 (!) minutes until the food was ready.. and they say it will take 20.. not recommended at...all!!More

Entrance was very nice. It took a long time for the waiter to come. The sushi was ok but nothing special. It took a long time for the drinks to arrive after ordering and after each new order we had to wait quite a while....This is a place for you who like loud music and not a place where you can talk and enjoy a drink. The drinks were good but you have to have plenty of time.More

Not sure of the exact address. I believe there is more than one branch of Japanika in Budapest. The food was excellent. Varied menu with vegetarian and gluten free options. Reasonable prices. Generous portions. Friendly service. Very good choice for people with dietary limitations. Would...recommend and would be happy to return.More

Food is fine but the service is very slow. We never got All the Food We ordered but were charged for it anyways. You should look for sushi somewhere Else.

I was sure this place will be extremely overprivced because of the location, as it is exactly in the heart of budapest, in front of St. Stephen's Basilica... I was really surprised how I was wrong :) The staff was super kind and friendly. the...place is really big inside and outside as well, has a great vibe. The menu is soooo long, it takes time to decide what you want to order, but guaranteed everything is suuuper delicious and very authentic. the cocktails are to die for as well. Recommend, really good value for money.More

Don’t think we will be rushing back , food was average, waited ages for the bill even though we told them we had somewhere to be and they don’t let you remove a tip.

We like to think of ourselves as connoisseurs of Sushi… and we rate Japanika very highly! The menu was like nothing we’d experienced before. So diverse and interactive. We tried three rolls and a bowl of noodles. Everything was delicious. The cocktails were made to...an extremely high standard. I must point out too, there was one woman making every cocktail that went out to the busy restaurant and every drink that left the bar was made with passion and love. Some of the best cocktails we’ve had. Service was quick and welcoming. A must-try for sushi fans!More
