Lovely fish in a great location.

Great location and fantastic fresh fish in this long established restaurant on the promenade in Piran. Particularly enjoyed the fresh fish, we had Anchovies, sardines and sea bass along with salads which were all expertly prepared and cooked. Prices were as to be expected in this location and service was good, the waiters looked like they'd been there for a long time and knew exactly how to deal with customers.

Seafood in Piran

We decided to try our the seafood in Piran. We were warmly welcomed by the owner. The waiter who took our order was kurt. The beer on draft was cold and refreshing. The only side that the stuffed squid comes with, is potatoes. The squid was delicious. It took a while to get the waiters attention. So although the food was delicious, the portion side was average & the service was poor.

The best sea food pastas ever

Shrimp Tagliatelle- strange, but the best Tagliatelle we’ve had, beating anything in Italy even. Probably to do with the quality of Shrimps from Piran Grilled calamari- rare to get this quality of calamari. Absolutely no complaints The bread on the side comes with a delicious oil and vinegar. Don’t miss out on it.

Beautiful place but poor service and food quality

First, I need to mention that before this visit, we had eaten in this restaurant many times and were always satisfied. But this time it was not their day at all. We booked the table in advance, so we had a meal with a beautiful view. Our waiter was ignorant and barely even talked to us. We had the fish soup for an appetiser, and it tasted good. However, when we tried everything on the fish plate, we discovered that one fish was smelling and it felt bitter. When I wanted to mention it to the waiter, he ignored me continually. We left the fish on the plate, and when he came to clean the table, he did not ask anything and just took the plates. I hope they can make some improvements in future as thay have a good location.

We asked for fresh fish of the day and they cooked it for us at the time. We found it good, well cooked in the oven with a side of potatoes. Price a little "expensive" but it's always about eating fish and in high season. Excellent view

Walking through the streets and the seafront of Piran

Sunday 3 December; a walk in beautiful Piran in the company of good friends. A chat, a walk, and voilà, hunger reminds us that it's time for lunch. I chose it instinctively, I didn't know it, but places that aren't too formal or coiffed always have their own charm. Good local fish, cooked according to Istrian tradition, when the dishes arrive on the table you immediately forget the extra 10 minutes you waited and understand that cooking on the spot takes its time. The owner, Mr. Ivo, his wife in the kitchen and their collaborators are a great team. the simplicity and essentiality of the service and furnishings do not deceive you; good fish comes from the sea and you can see it right before your eyes. Great lunch place

We walked by just before lunch when it was empty. Fortunately, we asked to reserve a table. That was kind of an accidental great idea. When we returned some 30 minutes later almost the entire restaurant was taken over by a large group--except for the table we reserved. We had grilled sardines, sheep cheese, tagliatelle pasta, black ink risotto and salad. Really nicely prepared and so relaxing to watch boats glide by.

Overpriced, small portions, bad food

Seafood starter with three different dishes was bad. Tough octopus and scampi with loads of cocktail sauce on a leaf of salad. Full of water. We ordered fritto misto – squid and girice were okay, scampi also, but there were a few dough balls inbetween. Everything is really overpriced. We won’t be eating here again.

From the reception to the quality of the food and the sticky menu, it was a complete disaster. The order was not written down and not remembered. So, as expected, the (poorly made) cheap products arrived on the wobbly 70s-style decorated table, completely wrong and incompletely served, sorry, shuffled. Quality: cheap! Funnily enough, apologetic drinks were served in a friendly manner but there was no complaint management. Actually no business at all, just a laborious attempt to present the very beautiful region in a bad light! A complete disaster!

Beautiful evening with the gifts of Neptune!

We spent a wonderful evening here with excellent food Risotto Nero( hearty and deep, well seasoned, could have been a bit soupier) and the very fine sea bass fillet with potatoes and vegetables was just very good. Very good service and the Limoncello finish recommend the Iva also because of the beautiful location by the sea! 4.4 points from our side!

Awful service!

Decent food, spoilt by terrible service. Not been treated like this anywhere else in Slovenia - or so badly anywhere for a very long time. Have visited Ljubljana, Bled, Maribor, Ptuj and Novo Mesto. Only here was made to feel totally unwelcome. The owner only smiles or speaks if he can see a big group might sit down. I had to ask for everything, nothing offered. So disappointing in a country that normally gives a warm and friendly welcome. The staff clearly think they can treat people this way because there will always be enough customers. Probably true, but most waiters and waitresses around the world realise it doesn’t take much to smile or treat people politely. The staff here clearly cannot have travelled much and found out what it’s like to be treated so rudely.

Dinner by the sea with sunset

On a Sunday evening in early September and with numerous tourists, we found a table in this restaurant overlooking the Piran seafront. While having dinner we also enjoyed the sunset over the sea. I chose for myself a cuttlefish ink risotto: excellent and at the right point of cooking and as a second course grilled Adriatic calamari: very tender! My husband equally enjoyed his spaghetti with seafood and the sea bass fillet. Total cost with a bottle of water: 65 euros, well deserved.

We had to ask 3 times for a water refil, they served every table with 2 plates so others had to wait a long time for their meal (that happened with the dessert too), the service is average (sometimes doesn't respond even if you ask something)... Food was alright. We are hoping for a better experience next time.

Great food with a great view!

On the advice of our tour guide, we grabbed a table at Ivo. No reservation, just ask nicely and you have a prime location. Started with mixed shellfish and then together a whole sea bass from the oven with attachments. Good house wine (the Malvazija of course) and espresso. The Slivovich came from the house. We had a great evening with delicious local food and will definitely come back!

Sorry, but this restaurant is a total disappointment! Outrageous prices - 100 ml of regional wine 15 euros, a bottle for 30 euros... the freshness of the dishes is questionable... in a word - I do not recommend it!!!
