Our neighbors recommended this place and I’m hooked, mostly because of the entree-size salads. We also tried traditional mushroom soup in a bread bowl. Everything coming out of the kitchen looked amazing, so I’ll definitely be back to enjoy the outdoor patio and courteous service....A real find on the edge of the car-free zone.More
We had no reservations and they had a very large group celebrating just as we arrived. There were singers and dancers dressed in traditional costumes. We were seated after a 5 minute wait, and enjoyed the atmosphere very much. Had an excellent Slovenian Chardonnay for...€33 and bear goulash. The prices were reasonable for a fine dining experience.More
Very flavoursome traditional Slovenian fare and reasonable prices. The traditional pork with potato’s was delightful.
Large restaurant in the city centre with a lot of staff. Large meals but dissatisfied with the way the food was prepared. Beef and baby beef done medium rare (we were not warned about it), there was too much mustard in beef salad that destroyed...the natural flavour of the salad. Disappointed. Food price too high compared to the food quality.More
Stopped by for dinner impromptu. Local cuisine- nice restaurant and attentive service. We were tired and hungry! Both meals were tasty - freshly prepared! Good service too. Definitely worth a visit. Atmosphere nice. Quiet and not too noisy, although there were some large groups.
Strong advice is to reserve! (we did it during afternoon walk day before)...and tried tipical Slowenian cuisine....gobova soup (mushroom soup served in crust of bread), beef stew with bread dumpling, trippe ala Trieste (inners), sausages with sourkraut and mashed potatoes. Everything was tasteful, fresh, service...was very quick and friendly with average price.More
This is a very old restaurant that serves traditional Slovenian cuisine. I ordered mushroom soup in a sourdough and fried calamari. They tasted great. Would have been a highly recommend restaurant, but the problem is the staff is not very friendly, and I did not...even see them smile once. Seems they were not having a great day. Willing to eat great tasting food while turning a blind eye on unfriendly customer service? This is your place.More
The food (pizza) is pretty good, but that's where it ends. On the website, the price for a pizza is 9.20 euros, I order it, and pay 11.70 euros when I pick it up. When I ask the lady why the price is lower online,...she tells me that it probably went up in price... WHAT?? The employee apparently doesn't know about the price increases at their pizzeria, let alone any price updates on spl. pages. When I remark that as a customer, I didn't get what I expected, for the price I expected, she thanked me and turned around. I guess her attitude would have been different if I wanted to clarify before I even paid. Attitude and quality of service/food and prices don't go together, so you won't see me at your place anymore. Even a couple of times a year when we have ordered 10 pizzas or more in the collective, we will prefer to turn to pizzerias that have at least a little feeling for people and want to serve their customers, because unlike you, they don't want to lose them.More
This place was a great discover in Ljubljana...a beautiful space, with delicious and flavoured meals, and specialy to mention, with friendly staff and lovely waitress Bili. A great thank you from the team from Moldova, Georgia, Lithuania, Ukraine and Kosovo, who had a great stay...in Best Western Premier Hotel Slon and nice and resting dinnes in Gostilna Sestica.More
This restaurant has been in the center of Ljubljana for years and years and years. the furniture and wallpaper looks like 1950's. So did the food! It was all bland, colorless and tasteless. Ok, I was with a group, but that's no reason to give...guests poor quality food. To start we were given a vegetable soup that was pale brown and had no taste at all. Pretty much everyone in our group took one bite and left the rest. Main course was kielbasa sausage over COLD coleslaw, with a piece of very dry chicken next to it (no sauce or anything!) and a bit of 'sauteed' pork (translation - boiled!!). Again, everything except the sausage was tasteless and to an American palate, serving hot sausage on cold coleslaw was pretty awful! Dessert was some kind of a pudding/cake. Once again, it was white - no color! - and tastless. Again, everyone took one bite and left the rest. This place may be better if you can order from the full menu, but if you have to go as a group - avoid it at all costs! There are lots of wonderful restaurants in Ljubljana, and this is NOT one of them. PS - just to top it all off, service was awful, too!!!More
We visited this restaurant for the cultural music and dancing. The performers were great, they played traditional accordion songs, and the dancing was wonderful to watch. But the experience did not stop at watching, we could participate as well. The Slovenian hat dance was so...fun, it was actually a contest to see who could keep up. The food was very good as well. I enjoyed the fried chicken; it had a wonderful flavor and was juicy and crisp. The cutlets were very good as well, and the gravy was an excellent addition to them. The rich savory seasoning was a perfect complement to them.More
We visited the restaurant as part of a group trip and had the most amazing time! Despite being vegetarian I still got to enjoy delicious traditional food. The food was interspersed with dancing and music, as well as some games at the end of the...night. The owner is really lovely and we had an amazing time!More
We wanted to try some typical Slovenian dishes and this experience has been good from this point of view. Also the bathroom was very clean and big enough. The bad things are the service (we hadn't cutlery and the bread was old of one week...at least), there was only one waiter for the entire restaurant. However, the bill was right. One thing that we appreciated was that the restaurant was totally accessible to people with disabilities.More
It's surprising to see how an uninterested waitress can completely ruin your evening. This catering sector must really be in crisis.
