There is not much to comment, you have to experince it. Great ambient, nice view over the city, outstanding service - Gregor always explained each dish well and detailed and provided us all information about wine, which belong to dish. All 5 dishes were excellent and you will be suprised how some combinations od food works so good together. We will be back.

I think you have to book in advance.
We had the 4 course surprise menu.
One vegetarian and one with meat, but without fish.
The two greetings from the kitchen were really good - especially the smoked butter.
All following courses were extremely delicious and well thought through.
It was a bit pricy - but totally worth the money, if you want to spend a beautiful romantic evening with your loved one. (amazing view and good food)
This menu costed us (2 persons)
in around 130€:
Cover charge: 6€
Sparkling wine: 13€ (two glasses)
Wine: 7,8€ (two glasses)
Water: 6€ (a bottle)
4 course menu:48€ per person
(Normally there would be a 5 or 7 course menu, but because of the vegetarian options it was changed a bit)

We were very impressed with this meal, it was good value given the quality of the dishes and venue.
Every course was very flavoursome, our meal included foie gras, sturgeon roe, scallops and other delicious ingredients.
The service was also absolutely flawless.
We had the 5 course blind tasting menu, a bottle of a great Modra Frankinja and.a glass of dessert wine, for €80 each.
Overall a great experience on our last night in such a gorgeous city.
Highly recommend!
The restaurant also does a ~€30 3 course lunch option.

Had a business dinner here midweek. The setting is fantastic. Tables have a view over the city. Service was outstanding. We took the 5 course surprise menu, with wine pairings. The chef made allowances for one of our guests who was a Pescetarian. Whilst the servings were smaller, we were not left hungry. Very tasty, many surprises and unusual ingredients.
Whilst not cheap, it was good value for money and ideal for business.
Highly recommended.

I went to Strelec during Teden restavracij (Restaurants week, when restaurants have promotions with special menus for a more affordable price).
I would rate my visit 8/10.
The pros: very tasty and well-prepared food, beautiful presentation, wines were mostly very good, the service was very professional.
The cons: a bit pricey (it's possible I'm just a cheapskate though), our table wasn't stable (moving when you put your hands on), one of the wines my girlfriend had wasn't good (yet still very expensive), and the portions were a bit small (particularly the side dish). And they changed the dessert in the original menu, without telling anyone (imagine coming to such an expensive restaurant and realizing you hate one of the ingredients in the changed dish, or worse yet, that you're allergic to one).
It was a nice experience, but I don't know if I would visit again, because you can eat similar quality food with bigger portions at cheaper restaurants (speaking from experience).

We ordered the nine course degustation for 4 people. Mixed reviews on the dishes presented. Certainly not the best we have experienced and as a result overpriced.
We were overcharged for drinks not received and when I phoned to complain I was asked to email my complaint as the manager was not there. I am still waiting for the positive outcome promised.
Overall very average.

I booked this place as a treat on the evening of my engagement with my girlfriend. To make it extra special I had asked if the restaurant could provide flowers.
We arrived slightly early but the staff were extremely accomodating and had our table already set up (in the best spot). The flowers arrived shortly after, much to my Fiancée's delight. As well as some complimentary Slovenian sparkling wine.
The restaurant staff were extremely attentive and friendly and were always happy to explain the menu and any drinks requests we had.
We opted for the 7 course tasting menu, which was incredible. Well thought out, well presented and extremely tasty.
I would throroughly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a more up market place to eat. In my opinion it is well deserving of a Michelen star.

Creative and deft preparations from the amuse bouches through dessert. Vegetarian options were stupendous. All dishes reflect a myriad of preparations that one would expect of Michelin one and two star restaurants. Setting at the top of a castle overlooking the city is breathtaking. And the whole meal is conducted with polish and genuine care for the diner, a warm environment where every detail from seating to wine service is part of a superb experience. Bravo!

We had a really special meal here , starting with the beautiful room. We had the 5 course meal at 57euro, and asked for mainly vegetarian with fish main. Everything was exceptionally well cooked with a fantastic mix of flavours and textures. The cauliflower and truffles was the standout. In any other capital city this would be 50% more, and the wine list is good value too. Well worth the Gault Millau 17/20.

Below expectations. First they had just a menu without prices and they couldn’t provide a normal one with a price list. Wine list was not for this level of restaurant. We took a tasting menu, all meat felt like a stone. Lamb was completely bloody. Dessert was a mix of too many things that I couldn’t eat it.
The ambience is nice but under the glass floor they had a messy wine cellar with empty paper boxes all around.

My partner knew this was my very favourite restaurant in Ljubljana, so he took me here for dinner on my birthday. He made a reservation in advance.
When it was time to order food, I asked for a vegetarian menu, my request was met with annoyance and the sentence “so you’re a vegetarian AND you didn’t let us know in advance?”
The boyfriend said he is pretty sure he mentioned it when making a reservation, as we always do. The waiter checked in the computer, came back and said, “No, you didn’t let anyone know” as if the mistake could not possibly be made on their end. Look, it is possible we forgot, but even if we did, the attitude we were faced with, was not okay.
They told me they can only make the smallest menu vegetarian (which is fine), but since it was my birthday and we were very hungry, I decided to make an exception and add some fish dishes. This proposition was met with outrage. The waiter insisted I tell him clearly whether or not I am REALLY vegetarian and wanted an explanation on why am I asking for vegetarian options if I am not really a vegetarian. Like it’s an identity thing. I said I will make an exception today and eat fish. “Oh, so you’re not REALLY a vegetarian?” I asked why is it so important to him to put this label on it … I was then mansplained that what I actually am is a pescaterian. Which I am not, I am not even a vegetarian, I do have my own reasons for eating the way I do, but I do not understand why this is anyone’s business but my own. I don’t know why we didn’t just get up and leave. Probably because it was, you know, my birthday and this dinner was actually my boyfriend’s birthday gift and it would break his heart if we left.
Apparently it is not fair to the cooking staff that they have to prepare vegetarian food for us people who are not REALLY vegetarian. I was told this by the waiter. I didn’t realise we were not allowed to simply have preferences or make exceptions. And ask for certain accommodations nicely. I don’t mind being told something is not possible, I understand. But I do mind being scolded like a little child for asking for something very reasonable. It’s 2022, asking for vegetarian options should not be a big deal.
It seemed like an attack on my dietary choices. Just to be clear - “sorry, you didn’t let us know in advance so unfortunately we cannot make you a vegetarian menu today”, would be a valid (and kind) reaction, but the member of the serving staff was very adamant on semantics of the term vegetarian. I did not feel welcome.
The food was okay, the wine selection was uncreative. They usually present and explain everything with some excitement, whereas this time, talking was kept to a minimum. It was really not a good experience.
I did not expect this from a restaurant at this level and I was very sad throughout the whole dinner realising that on my birthday, my favourite restaurant was taken away from me. So thank you so much, Strelec, for ruining my birthday dinner.
And to whom it may concern, they are not vegetarian friendly. In the past I did not understand, why they don’t have a star, but sadly, now I do.

The food was good but nothing special though. Nothing impressed me that much to make me want to go back. The service was great. There are so many other better restaurants in and around Ljubljana that offer much better food, service and price for value.

A tough trek up and down a steep and rough path in the dark isn't ideal preparation nor is it a nice after dinner walk.
However the walk is well worth it as the restaurant has great views and decorated very well.
The staff are great and are very attentive and professional with an excellent knowledge of the courses.
The tasting menu is very well put together. Two different dishes (one for me and one for my partner) weren't to our tastes but we didn't mind as we like trying new things.
Overall it is a well worth doing experience and I would recommend to a friend, especially if they are a fan of fine / fancy dining.

We chose the complete tasting menu (dinner), which consists of nine dishes plus two amuse-bouches. It was the meal for the autumn season. The food was fantastic. The flavors were extremely well-balanced, and the wine pairings supplied by the superb sommelier were excellent. As always, the service was excellent, and we had a terrific time. The chef was constantly around and asked us if the meals were to our satisfaction multiple times. It was, without a question, the greatest lunch I'd ever had in the country. I'd do it again in a heartbeat, and I highly suggest the visit.

We had a fabulous lunch (only available Saturdays) for two in this elegant, yet relaxed, restaurant with dramatic views of Ljubljana. The five course fixed-price seasonal tasting menu was creative and included several extra small bites from the kitchen. Service was very attentive and friendly. On the expensive side, but well worth the price for a top quality dining experience. Excellent wines at reasonable prices too. Highly recommended (reservations often necessary, but they take some walk-ins).
