The Metr offers lunch time specials at very good prices. The choice was good, although not much for a vegetarian, and a glass of wine or water is included. Surprisingly, a glass of beer instead of wine would have been extra - perhaps because they...have slightly different beers from the run-of-the-mill. It's a small restaurant and service is fast and friendly. There are a couple of tables set right up in the window which offer a good view of street life. In the evenings, a la carte menus are reasonably priced and include pizzas and pastas.More

We entered for a coffee and a bourbon, and after half an hour we decided to order something to eat and a few more bourbons. The staff was very friendly, especially the waitress and the chef. The service was very prompt despite we went there...in the lunchtime and the restaurant was pretty crowded. We ordered a salad and an appetizer which was delivered very quickly, and everything was fresh and well seasoned. A huge plus they had every type of bourbon we ordered even the less common ones. It was a great afternoon.More

I had a quick lunch at this place. During my 20 minutes visit, I’ve enjoyed two differences couples complaining on the food and treatment. My own lunch was acceptable, the soup was a bit salty and polish “galabki” were cleverly disguised by the spicy tomato...sauce...More

The title is a translation of the place name that reflects the way it is set up a little above the street level. Very nice, modern feeling when you walk inside. Warm welcoming. I liked the food as well, but there are few issues. Even...it is a wine bar as well, I was told at first that they do not have any Pino Noir. Only another staff member who overhead the conversation pointed to some bottles in the back. The wine actually was from Chile and very nice. Handwritten advertisement outside as well as menu were inviting for the special Polish duck breast, but when I tried to ordered they did not have it. Place was 1/3 full, but I was waiting about 20 minutes for the dessert and was told that chief was busy cooking for other clients. As a bonus, this place apparently is a stop on some Polish Vodka tasting tour, so I overhead a lot of the stories from the guide when they sit down at the next table.More

My salad with roast beef was nice... and my partner really enjoyed his tartar steak (it is a little bit different, than tartar steak you know from Czech republic or Slovakia, but according to his opinion it is really good).

Have to start with prizing great stuff and a great atmosphere. You feel so welcomed here. No problem if you want to be a little fussy and order burger with no bun, or any other food combination. Thank you - you are all doing great...job! Starting from the barman and finishing on the kitchen stuff. My personal recommendation is ravioli stuffed with wild mushrooms, but tasted many other dishes - all were very good (maybe I would add less garlic for shrimps). Wine - great! You will find what you like - and you need any recomendation - you will be well advised. What more it is also a wine shop so you get a bottle home. Highly recommend a place!More

We found this bar/bistro last year and returned on our recent visit. A local gem. Food and service first class. We were served and looked after by Justina who was brilliant. Always smiling and friendly. A credit to the establishment. Will return next year.

Nice little place - it's the first time I am here but certainly not the last 😀 The food is good - one of the choices were spreads..... as pre-starter - great idea and very tasty especially the one with aubergine. Service was good -...dishes were served very fast despite the place was full. A nice evening - and certainly worth recommending. Only do make reservations - especially if you are more than two. It is a small place with only 6 or 7 tables. Bon ApetitMore

Great idea of a place with a wineshop and restaurant and the food was actually good! Till my friend discovered a 1,5 cm piece of hard plastic i his mouth, while chewing his hamburger. When we told the staff they looked genuinly surprised and asked...(even more surprised) if we want them to take the plate back? Ofcourse! We stayed 1 more hour sipping our wines and they never came with any apology, concern or question if my friend would like anything else. So the presumptions were good for a 3 or 4, but the really bad customer service dropped it to a 1. For heavens sake - it could have a really bad ending for my friend, if he had swollowed the piece of plastic!More

An unpretentious place with fresh decor serving Polish contemporary cuisine but also traditional and international. Pleasant service and reasonable price. What to ask more...

A modern little bar/ cafe tucked away in a convenient quiet city location behind the busy/ noisy Aleje Jerozolimskie. Friendly service, tasty selection of contemporary food, with a broad selection of wines from around the world.

Staying at the Polonia Palace we were looking for a restaurant not too far away with Polish food. On the Nowogrodzka Street just behind the hotel we found this place with outdoor seating, while inside it looked more like a wine-bar cum wine shop, with...plenty of bottles on the shelves. The choice was definitely above the one encountered in the usual liquor stores of town. A lady with a broad smile, but limited English welcomed us. They had only a Polish menu card, but then the waitress came up with an old English menu card, which although not up to date anymore, was still of help. We sat outside and ordered drinks first. I had a Mojito, which was a touch too sweet for me, while my wife went for a 'Szarlotka', a drink very popular - I had been told - with Polish ladies. It is a mixture of unfiltered apple juice with the herb spiced Zubrowka Vodka. I got a sip to try, but my wife definitely liked the drink more than I did. For food we then ordered Steak Tartare, where onions, mushrooms, pickled gherkins and egg yolk came separately to be mixed by the guest. It was good, but a tiny portion, more like a tapa - typical wine-bar-style. Still feeling hungry we then went for 'Opiekani Kozi Ser', grilled goat cheese from the Tatra, which we had tried before and liked very much. It came wrapped in paper with some cranberries on top. The anonymous house table wine they offer was not bad either. When asked the waitress told me it came from Spain. Sitting outside I also understood the name of the restaurant. The floor of the indoor part with a big glass front is one meter above ground. And that is also the name of the restaurant: 'Metr nad Ziemia'.More

Off the tourist track and well worth the effort to find. Friendly service, great food, good wine selection, reasonably priced. If you are after traditional food this is not for you. Modern and contemporary and proud of it too. Just want a beer, wine, spirit...or cocktail in pleasant surrounds you are still welcome. Everything fresh, delicious and well presented.More

Went to this place in the recommendation of a local. Wonderful find but off the beaten track. We sat outside because it was so hot but we were the only patrons for an hour. Saying that, the bar manager was great and brought a series...of different vodkas to try. My personal favourite was the Pravda espresso flavour. Just like an espresso martini but smoother...More
