We dined here based on recommendations from trip advisable were not disappointed. In an excellent Polish setting with lots of atmosphere and with Robert as our fabulous waiter, we had a wonderful evening. Menú has great variety and options for small or large plates. Well priced and efficient but not rushed. At the end of the evening, Robert even produced some pastries to take home -quite unexpected but a lovely touch and sums up the feel of this restaurant.

We had an amazing experience. Taxi dropped us at the cafe near the restaurant under the same name and we thought we are at the wrong place. A well dressed gentleman leaving the cafe asked if we need any help. He told us the restaurant is next door and turned out he is the owner. He welcomed us in , found us a table (it was fully booked), poured us some amazing Polish vodka, showed us the restaurant and recommended some dishes. It was an amazing experience The food is superb, service is attentive and decor is impressive, best restaurant in Warsaw

This was our chosen venue for our first night of three in Warsaw (which by the way is a great place to visit). I can only say I was impressed from start to finish, we were warmly welcomed shown around the restaurant (which was packed out on a Wednesday). We were given a complimentary vodka (apparently 25 years old and filtered through milk) and then seated and attended to by fantastic staff. The food was excellent quality and the entire experience was memorable for all the right reasons.

So, we went there last week for a Birthday / Engagement Dinner (discussed this with a gentleman over the phone). Upon arrival, we were greeted nicely but then we got a table on the first floor right at the end next to some spare chairs for the restaurant. And from then it went all wrong (apart from the wine), jokes aside we ordered the starters which was Tatar and Kasza Jaglana. As for Tatar yes it was made in front of us by the chef but then he asked if I want Tatar to be served Polish old school way and then he mixed all the ingredients together (which is not a Polish way whatsoever). Then when we were in the middle of eating, another waiter came with the mains and she looked confused that we are still eating. When I finished my starter, the waiter asked if she can take the plate and then she placed the main dish in front of me whilst my girlfriend was still eating the starter (!!) saying the chef cooked it to quickly(really?). When serving the food, they basically dropped the plates on us and didn't care how we felt about it. When my girlfriend finished the starter, I was still with my main untouched as I wanted to wait for her to finish, then we have waited few more minutes (after asking the waiter) for her main. By waiting all this time my Duck was bone dry as well as my girlfriend fish of the day as it was probably sitting under the hot light for 15+minutes. When we tried to ask the waiter a question he was confused and made us think it was our fault for some reason instead of asking a chef or general manager about the situation. After the mains finally gone, we received a mini cake from the pastry shop next door (also Stary Dom franchise) but without saying sorry for the situation. So, in conclusion please be prepared to receive the average service with unprofessional attitude. This is our first and last time at Stary Dom but hope yours experience will be better 😊

Too much show, and little substance. They chop and mix their Tatar at the table, a noise show, that most of the patrons don’t pay attentions to anyway. Same can be said for their fried shrimps, I had the same dish elsewhere at 50 % without the added show. The staff wore mouth masks, but most under the nose, not a worthy of a serious restaurant, also the guests walked around without a mask. Noisy and poor Covid-19 measures hence only 3/5 the food tasted great, and the service were excellent apart from the cooking at the table

We were 8 persons there celebrating my birthday. We had choosen the big menu with plenty of small dishes. When We came there the tatar already was on the table and not done in front of us as expected. No one explained the dishes for us and the service was not very good. We payed around 300 zloty per person for food and wine but I don’t think it was worth it.

We are Polish and can tell a good and authentic meal apart from a mediocre one. We had the tartare (made tableside), lamb, and schnitzel- all delicious, made with care, and top quality. Will definitely return! A big thank you to Pan Bartosz for the excellent service, recommendations, and the jagodzianki!

A visit to this high class Polish restaurant is a must The menu is in Polish & English, and the waiter was friendly. It seems that the specialty of this restaurant is steak Tartare, which they chop magically in front of you…(Alas I only eat seafood ...) This is a gourmet restaurant, excellent food and reasonable pricing. They offer typical Polish dishes as well as international dishes, and the selection of deserts is fantastic. The atmosphere was luxurious and cozy at the same time, the decor is interesting.

Amazing food and service. We had the steak tatare which was prepared freshly by the chef at our table. We followed that with pork ribs and pork knuckle which were both excellent. Our children ate chicken fingers and chips and the kitchen was happy to substitute a carrot salad for fresh cucumber on the side for them. I tried the coffee meringue which was very decadent, but a little too sweet for me. The other deserts looked fabulous too! My husband and I were gutted we came here on our last night in Poland as we would have gone back and ate everything again. It's important to book as every table was reserved.

The restaurant itself is very nice and traditional, which is what drew us in the first place. However, there is much that can be improved. We had made a reservation weeks in advance, but the table that was initially given to us was not very good - when we asked to be moved to a better table, we were taken downstairs, where it’s much nicer, amd we saw that there were many tables that were empty. The food was average (didn’t like the pork - needed a sauce, duck just ok and beef tartare tasty) and the service was quite slow.

I visited the restaurant few years after previous visit. I ordered a flagahip dish - beef tartar staek and it was ok, but nothing extraordinary.. Bread served to it was just not fresh. The other dishes were ok, not even very good. At the end we waited almost 20 minutes to get the invoice, since waiter could not produce it from the system, he needed training by the other one….

My family and I went for dinner here to celebrate and it was perfect. The atmosphere is delightful and the food is very tasty (hope you’re hungry because the portions are very big). Robert served us tonight and his service was exceptional. Even received donuts to take home!! Definitely recommend Stary Dom to anyone who is wanting to eat traditional polish food.

This place is a nice room. The food was okay and it was hopping. No intimate meal here. You bring your friends and start with vodka shots. They do a show with steak tartare so if you are into that, you need to order it. Kind of unique among Warsaw restaurants. My complaint was our waiter was just forgetful. He had to be reminded several times of dishes or drinks that were ordered but never arrived. When the bill arrived, one of the forgotten dishes was on it so we had to point it out to him and he did not seem too pleased. Anyway, we got it sorted out.

Attending a conference in Warsaw and we were looking for a place to accommodate a party of 6 with traditional Polish food. One of our party is from Poland so we had a good judge! The food was delicious, the atmosphere delightful, and service first rate. Dining in Warsaw is inexpensive (for Americans) but it's no bargain if the food is not good. Stary Dom is amazing and you are missing out if you don't have the steak tartare!

am without doubt a foodie!! My waistline tells me so however, I really do appreciate good food From the moment you arrived at the typically Polish terraced town property, you enter a world of tradition and T Inside the restaurant harks back to a very traditional past, leading me to think that this gem of a restaurant was part of Old Warsaw! However, I was rather surprised to learn that Stary Dom was created in the 50's! We arrived without a reservation , which was a mistake but soon rectified by the exceptionally efficient young "front of house " lady who was very welcoming and soon found space for us ... dobry! The food was original and mouthwatering I opted for a tradition dish of mixed pierogi to start, followed by probably the best Steak Tatar I have ever had . The Tatar , prepared at your table by your chef was seasoned to perfection and melted in your mouth! My friend opted for the Beef shank. This again cooked to perfection and served with fresh Horse radish!! We had no room for the sumptuous deserts on display however , I am sure they too upheld the exceptional standards of the Stary Dom!! I strongly advise you visit next time you are in Warsaw!
