START is a new, fresh restaurant with vibrant interior (designed by R2D2kolektyw) and simply brilliant food. Main menu based on groats with healthy, seasonal products. Everyday Chef offer different lunches, soups and sweets - based on polish traditional food served in new, refreshing way. All of that is caused by three young and creative owners, who want to host every guest as best as they can.

My last review was from 2020 and I still love the place! I highly recommend Start. I love the informal atmosphere of it and of course great food! Menu changes a bit during the year which is refreshing. The must have for me is rigatoni ala vodka and soup named “Nie ramen, nie pho”. Also shawarma is very tasty. The interior is very cosy and interesting and there is really nice garden made on the patio as well, so you can enjoy it on warmer days.

Greek theme evening in this cozy restaurant. The service is friendly, speaks good English and the food is excellent. Of course the temporary Greek menu has a Polish twist, but that also gives it its charm.

Beautiful interior with amazing food and very nice people. You can feel really relaxed in Start so if you like casual and peaceful atmosphere the place is for you!

My friends and I stumbled across this place whilst trying to find where we were staying. What a wonderful surprise, we originally popped in to ask for some directions. The lady we spoke to (co owner) was really lovely and told us so much about where to visit ect. So we stayed for a drinks, then some cakes and were so impressed we returned the next day for dinner.
Cool, quirky place which is very welcoming and super tasty!!
I had the best fruit tea I have ever ever had! (And would loveeeeee it if you guys could tell me how you make it.)
I’ll return to Poznan for the cup of tea here alone! Thanks for a lovely trip.

If you're looking for a dishes and tastes that will last long in your mouths and memory, go to Start!
Start's kitchen is hard to classify. I would called it international or fusion, with Polish or (but not "and") Asian accents. Except of menu, you'll always find something new in the "day specials" menu. Vegetarians and vegan will find something for them also. All accompanied by great choice of standard and non-standard soft drinks and beers/wines.
Staff and atmosphere is great. No place for fuzz or posh. Start is a "everyone's invited" restaurant. It's also gay-friendly and pet-friendly (with it's own sweet dog called Fafik). Both not so common in Poland.
And I dare you: spare the place for theirs outstanding cakes. Really outstanding. I mean it.

I love the food, the atmosphere and basically everything! The owners are so nice and the dishes of the day are diverse and cake and coffee are great too. Prices are very reasonable.

It's a nice place with glass walls around it, so there is a lot of daylight inside. Modest design inside. It's a cafe for a quick meal or a glass of fresh juice, it's not a fancy restaurant. Food is made on the spot and you can see how they make it - it's all open.

So I started my lunch with a lemonade with red currant juice, raspberries and sage. Refreshing, summery, a real taste buds opener.. For main I had tagliatelle with wild mushrooms, mun and oyster mushrooms dipped in creamy parmesan sauce with a parsley garnish. Hearty, but healthy, simple and full of flavours. And yes I had two deserts.. a raspberry, white chocolate, mascarpone tart and a slice of a chocolate brownie topped with a layer of peanut butter.. Oh dear. Three friends (sometimes four) are running the place. Down to earth, friendly without that pompous additional whatever. Will come back for more.

Saw an advert for this new cafe, bit off the beaten track but fantastic tasty food beautifully cooked and presented. This is a relatively new venture with a young ambitious staff team. Decor a bit basic but it's part of the vibe and is far outweighed by the fabulous food and service. Highly recommended and an absolute bargain - well worth the walk from the town centre.

I was advised to visit this place by a business connection, and the website (Facebook page) looked promising. Only one review, but it's a new place. Well, I think the previous / first review was done by some friends of the owner.
There aren't too much choices on the menu, and the thing we liked was the chicken paella.
But, they should call it chicken curry. The service was good: a nice fellow and we enjoyed the little dog around, as we are dog owners too.
Nice little place to visit, and I wish them all the luck!

My family and I are from Chicago. We have eaten at many place around the world, and Start is by far the best restaurant we have ever eaten at. If you are planning a trip to Poland I would recommend coming to Poznan simply to eat at Start. The service was the best! Anna and her coworkers could not have been nicer. Their hospitality was above and beyond anything we have experience!
