The Michelin Guide only covers two Polish cities: Warsaw and Krakow. Restaurants in other Polish cities are not mentioned in the world’s leading fine dining guide. That‘s not really fair. There are also excellent restaurants in other parts of Poland that are worth mentioning. One...of them is Muga Restaurant in Poznan.
I visited Muga Restaurant in February 2023 for two consecutive days. My first night was only at the Muga winery, officialy called „Casa de Vinos“, which is an integral part of the Muga Restaurant. I was happy to meet Lukasz Glowacki, one of the leading Polish sommeliers. Since it was late at night and the last guests were gradually leaving the restaurant, he took some time for me. We had a very interesting small talk about wine and the Polish wine market. His wine card is very extensive and clear. I really enjoyed it. As far as I remember correctly, there were six different bottles of Barolo from Piedmont (Italy) on the menu. The wine bar is really cozy. You immediately feel at ease.
The second night, I went to Muga Restaurant itself. It was a Saturday night and almost every table was occupied. So don’t forget to make a reservation in advance. I ordered „Tatar Wolowy“ (beef tartare) as starter and „Morszczuk“ (hake) as main course. Both were excellent. Of course, Lukasz Glowacki was there again and advised me on the right wine for dinner. His recommendations were amazing. Especially the Hungarian Riesling for the beef tartare was an unusual, but excellent choice.
The service from the Muga staff was excellent. Everyone was very polite and accommodating. The ambience of the restaurant is outstanding. Perhaps the best choice in Poznan for a first date. The prices are really fair, especially if you compare them to high Restaurant prices in Germany or France. In summary: It was a fantastic evening, although I visited the restaurant alone. Hopefully the Guide Michelin will soon include restaurants in Poznan. I will definitely come again.More
