I had dinner once. The place is right in the old town, really cozy and professional service. They forgot to serve us starters, but then they offered us the dessert to apologise. Main dish was delicious
Unfortunately, this is the best restaurant in Lublin, so it doesn't matter what I say, you'll still go there anyway. I'll start with saying the food was ok. It was traditional Polish cuisine. The chef seem to put a lot of attention to his work....The plates were a little too much, I wouldn't expect to finish it. The problems I had was the awful service, they forgot my reservation and offered me a bad table, forgot to set the table before seating us, and the waitress made so many errors and was often late. This restaurant was a real head-scratcher because it seems they take pride in their work, but they so easily delivered a bad experience for me. I wouldn't recommend and won't return.More
Our waitress left the restaurant halfway through the evening (8pm on Saturday) and apparently didn’t tell her colleagues about the fact she was leaving therefore we waited 30 minutes for someone to take away our plates after we finished dinner. Waited a long time for...a bill. We ordered two glasses of wine but they billed us for the whole bottle and when we pointed it out the waiter tried to tell us off that we didn’t say anything earlier. When I said that we didn’t say anything because nobody came to see us or take away our plates the waiter was apologetic, but tried to convince us that it was our fault that we received something we didn’t order. I found it very unprofessional. In the end we agreed that we would pay for half a bottle of wine, which still wasn’t what we ordered. I was disappointed because the waiter trying to blame us for the restaurant’s shortcomings tainted our evening and I was expecting the restaurant to be higher standard.More
In two weeks travelling around eight countries dinner here was the best meal of the tour and far and away the best value. From the moment that brioche buns with shaped butter started the evening to the enchanting desert that ended it everything was outstanding....One mistake was to order the Polish red wine. Not the restaurants fault but an attempt to be too 'local.' The soup was the highlight of an adventurous meal. Assured that the small room had been full the previous evening we shared it with another coouple. The service was attentive and knowledgeable. Highly recommend this restaurant.More
On a two week tour around Europe this was the stand-out experience when it comes to dinner. There are a number of small rooms and we were lucky, not having booked, to be seated in comfortable chairs at a table for two near the fire....I guess later in the year when the fire has been lit and the lights lowered this would be a great place for a romantic date.
The six courses we had between us were all excellent and if I have to pick out the best then the Buckwheat pancake start; the Beef Cheek main course and the wonderfully named Tartare of mango dessert or to provide the description from the menu - Mango tartare ripening on a tree with lime, served with tomato sorbet, dried tomatoes with lavender and basil meringue - says it all really.
As this is a fine dinning restaurant, the food is prepared to order, so there may be delays between the serving of courses, as one would expect.
My white wine was good but the Polish Red was not up to the standard of the rest of the meal - an off bottle perhaps?
Service was excellent and the menu is available in English.
If you are in Lublin, do eat here.More
This is not my first visit, and definitely not the last one: all was perfect - all courses were well made with a twist, each of us had a different one, and all was great. and desserts! and cocktails (if you like gin ask for...combination with raspberry puree and lime)! and the kids were happy! Highly recommended!More
