We stayed for nearly three weeks at Szczyrk. Whilst there are many restaurants along the Main Street , none came up to the mark with trout dishes as Salmopolskie Gosciniec. We ate here at least 10 times and every time I had trout. It was...fresh as though it had been taken straight from the water! It was prepared beautifully and was always succulent. The flesh came away from the bone skeleton with ease making the eating experience enjoyable. The service was efficient and friendly. The restaurant smokes it’s own fish and the smoked trout mousse is unbelievable. We have travelled all over Poland over the last 17 years, and no restaurant comes within a cooee of this one for its trout dishes!More
Nice surprise to find a fish restaurant in the mountains, where all other restaurants are for meat eaters. Not all our dishers were perfect - trout cream a bit too dense, trout in beer cake too dry, but trout in mashroom sauce was good as...well as local atmosphere and possibility to take a dog inside.More
Me and my friend ordered lunch, my friend ordered dumplings and I asked what was possible to make gluten free. They had a Greek salad and I showed the waitress the polish word for gluten intolerance and told her I was very allergic. She said...the salad was fine and that they’ll make it without croutons. When the arrived with the food (after 50 minutes!!!) my friend got her dumpling without sour cream that she ordered them with and had to ask 3 extra times for, and I got the salad, started eating it and when I got through half of it I saw 2 croutons. So I told the waitress this and that I was very clear with my allergy and she shrugged her shoulders and said sorry in a very impolite way. Very disrespectful. I can definitely not recommend this place!More
Passing by several times a year, I was thinking this is a "mass-food" place - and I was so wrong! they DO serve an EXCELLENT FISH here, which I can fully recommend; please be aware the portions are really big so "fish pla for two"...would be enough for four as wel,, IMO. The crew is helpful too.More
The restaurant has very traditional dishes and smoked meat and fish the taste is very good and the service is really nice . If you pass through this city definitely you have to try this one
We ate here 5 times in our stay in the area. It was easily the best and freshest food in the Szczryk valley we found. We ended up calling 20-30mins ahead to book a table and ordering food.
This is a fish restaurant we visited with some friends. We had come here 2 years ago and it's kind of deteriorated a bit since - new owners ?? Anyway the food was good but the staff were a bit indifferent and not very friendly....They had served steak to a nearby table but when we asked them whether what non-fish items they had they said they do not serve steak. They only have a few non-fish items so unless you love fish, better avoid this restaurantMore
Unfriendly, grumpy reception, place was full (small dining hall), waiting time one hour (or more), maybe we would like to have dinner on a couch in the drafty hall. We turned around and went to Zapiecek.
We got here after skiing, ordered their recommended fish dish (the one fried in beer bread) and potato pancakes and it was delicious. I strongly recommend their tea with cranberries! Very good price/quality ratio. You simply have to visit this place when in Szczyrk!
One of the best fish restaurants i have ever been to.You should definitely try out a fish soup and a trout with garlic butter. While there is nothing to complain about when it comes to food I would definitely recommend the owners to work on...the service policy-all the staff that we encountered there,(except for one, very nice lady) was unpolite and ignorant-as if they were doing us a favor that we can eat there. I would come back to this place (and I always do each time I'm in Szczyrk) but I would definitely like to be served in a more polite manner.More
We ate there 3 times over 4 day stay in Szczyrk. Although it is bit outside of the city, it is definitely worth visiting. First of all the food is fresh, which is one thing less to worry about on your holiday. Secondly it is...a “fish place” so order trout, and you will not be disappointed. I went for a simple fried trout and it was very good. I also recommend soups, especially “Żurek” or “Kwaśnica”. Décor may not be the greatest, but overall it is good and fresh food, nice service, reasonably priced…what else do you need?More
Ordered onion soup and potato pancakes with meat. Both dishes very artificial with overwhelming amount of flour (cheap way to make the food). When we entered a waiter gave us a fish paste to taste with two shots of local vodka - this was a...great detail. Restaurant is famous for fish therefore I would stick to that and order recommended fish there.More
This restaurant looks rather dark and gloomy as you walk through the door , just as you've gone past the 'Smoker'...Where they smoke their own produce.. The first area you come across is the bar area, which is well stocked with locally made vodka with...various flavours and alcoholic strength. ....We were warmly welcomed to a very traditional mountain type dining room and given a menu full of traditional dishes... I opted for a starter of Zurek, which is a filling and tasty soup made with fermented Rye, potatoes, Polish sausage. ...With a boiled egg dropped in for good measure. ..l had a lovely steak dish with a mushroom sauce for main, which was excellent. .Polish restaurants always serve a separate salad dish of maybe carrot, sauerkraut, and often celeriac .....The staff here are very friendly and the service was excellent. ..We were even given a small bottle of the local vodka they produce ...☺More
This place really worth a try with great food (specially Golonka from the smoke room), live polish folk music and kind staff. They have variety of drinks including regional vodka. They even offer free shots and a small vodka bottle as a gift. Considering the...quality, it is a very cheap restaurant.More
