Tried the traditional polish food, placki, pierogi, zurek, food was good.. But service is quite slow. Thus 4 star.

After having trouble with the website booking system my husband and I had booked this restaurant through Facebook messenger which we got a prompt and pleasant response confirming we had a table booked. We arrived in krakow late in afternoon and after having a little...trouble with our transfers so were looking forward to a meal that was booked in a close by restaurant. We turned up to the restaurant at 8pm (our booked time) where we were turned away by two confused, unhelpful but apologetic waitresses because the restaurant clearly had on some sort of private function. They said it was impossible for us to have a booking because the kitchen was closed and they had no chef, they were stunned when I showed them the messages arranging and confirming our booking. We asked if there were any restaurants close by or anything they could recommend, they just shrugged, this left me and my husband outside in the rain not knowing where to go. The following day I messaged explaining what happened and got no response whatsoever. Iv attached a screenshot of the message conversation.More
We went in expecting a lovely meal similar to what we had last year. However it was a disaster. We ordered lamb but were informed that there was none so we all ordered beef but were told it would take 3 hours! We would not...go there again after a most disappoin ing experience.More
This restaurant is very close to the Wyspanski hotel, it serves the best potato pancakes that I have tasted in years. It has a varied menu at very reasonable prices. The service was quick and efficient. The décor was very art deco I would definitely...go back if I was in KrakowMore
Really enjoyed this. It was my birthday dinner. Super special , veal was to die for. Had my my first steak tartare for less than £10. You must visit here for amazing service, food and a spectacular ambience.
We were a group of 10, booked the table and when we got there, the table arrangement was lovely, very long fashioned, but lovely, with fresh flowers and real napkins. Service was good, Food great and the bill was Very reasonable. Highly recommended.
Visited for family dinner. Service was pleasant but food was very disappointing. Meat was very tough - had potato pancakes with beef goulash. Tender veal was not tender at all and veg that came with it was bland and under seasoned. There are many better...restaurants with polish food in the area. Avoid.More
We had a meal at this Resteraunt last week.Beautiful Building and just as Beautiful inside. The place is very clean. The food was grim.I had Polish dumpings with mushroom and cheese filling. It was not a great meal.Nothing wrong with the food just not nice.
On our walking about discovering Krakow, we came across this building, and then that it has a restaurant. Located on the east side of town, just outside the Planty, and next to the Hotel Wyspianski. Probably no reason to book. When we first entered we...thought the building had the air of a passed army officers club. This is in fact what it is and what it was. High ceilings, nostalgic furnishings from a bygone age. We were told and shown a large function room upstairs, grand enough for weddings and parties. However, this is a restaurant review. It was a compact menu, and we went for the delicious Squash soup, and then Beef cheeks that were superb with vegetables. All very reasonable priced with good service. We were even shown the function room upstairs, when all was quiet. I dont think you will be disappointed.More
I would advise any reader of this review to ignore the less favourable ones. We were so impressed by the excellent food, drink and good service we decided to eat here on all four evenings during our stay in Krakow. Vast choice of dishes to...choose from and while you do pay for a side dish this means you can sample something different each time to accompany your main course. Food is definitely fresh and cooked to order (not frozen as mentioned in another review for this restaurant). Food is full of flavour and well presented. Friendly and attentive staff. Portions are large and overall the food and drink served offers good value for money. We typically paid approximately £30.00 each evening for a three course meal for two people with 3 drinks each and a coffee. The restaurant has a lovely feel of times gone by and offers a relaxed dining experience. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely return on any future stays in Krakow.More
Thank you for your warm words! Greetings and feel free to visit us again ;)
Ate here with a group on a school trip. Place was great with a lot of history in the walls. Food was average at best. Watery soup and meatballs that tastes like something my dement grandmother would make. Undercooked potatoes
Thank you for your feedback and we are glad that you enjoyed our restaurant. We hope that next time we meet your expectations about our dishes. Best Regards!
lovely setting, good and friendly staff, expansive menu cooked to order, reasonable prices for both food and drinks
Thank you for visiting and I hope to see you again!
Avangarda used to be the Officer's Club in Krakow. Now converted into a stylish restaurant where both interior and food is liked to the 1920s. Food is plentiful and heavy, and very tastefull. They serve a house wine at very reasonable price. Service is great....A great experience going back in time.More
Thank you for visiting and nice words :) We are glad we could help you move in time with our interiors and our menu. I hope to see you again!
After getting drenched with rain on our visit to Auschwitz we happened upon this charming restaurant . Despite our bedraggled appearance we were warmly welcomed and shown to a table. We ordered roast beef with potatoes , our very attentive waiter soon brought our food....The beef was cooked to perfection, two thick cut slices that melted in the mouth. Noticing that my husband had a graze on his elbow due to falling on the Death road , the waiter cleaned the wound and applied a plaster. Much to our delight he advised us that traditional musicians and dancers were due to perform and we were welcome to join in. The performance was amazing , the players and dancers got everyone to their feet. A fabulous restaurant in an historic building.More
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!!! the negative reviews seem ignorant of traditional polish dining. Avangarda was previously military officers club that today creates a 1930's environment that serves incredibly prepared, authentic, fresh quality polish cuisine. I was so happy to find it so close to Old Town. It...is quiet and elegant. If you need a break from the loud touristy crowds in the square - come here - its a short short walk away. The service was excellent, thoughtful and attentive and spoke excellent English. From reading the other reviews it seems worth mentioning that in Poland, side dishes 'dodatky' are almost always separate on the menu. I love having the choice of potato dumplings or buckwheat to go with my Kotlet or Rolady. The broth soup (Rosłó) was one of the best I've ever had. We stayed in Krakow for 3 days and came here 3 times. Thats how wonderful and comforting the food was!More
