We didn't book but managed to get the last table on a Friday evening at around 8.00pm. We were seated upstairs in what used to be an open courtyard but now has been covered with a plastic roof. Decoration of the restaurant is pleasant and in a traditional style. Our waitress was very good and there wasn't a long wait... More

Our tour guide recommended this restaurant, which is why we went to it. One can eat upstairs or downstairs. Both are lovely but the downstairs area is very romantic and charming.Scrubbed wooden tables with candles and crisp white cotton napkins. This is a fine dining experience in a superb atmosphere & definitely qualifies as a holiday treat!. I just wanted... More

If you are after traditional Polish food you will struggle to get better. We first visited on 2015 and we were impressed.... so when we returned in 2016 we actually went twice. We tried the pierogi and the bigos and they were superb. You also get a free basket of bread and lard... sounds horrible but you have to try... More

Atmosphere can't be beat. Service great. If your mobility is limited ask for main floor seating. Two flights down is romantic, but tough on tired legs.

Expensive of course, but what a location. A warren of stone cellars and eating areas, decked out with interesting artwork and artifacts. Right on the main tourist street. You'll need to book. I had Zurek (fermented rye soup with bacon and sliced sausage) then a rack of lamb that I have to admit didn't taste as good as it looked.... More

This was both my wife's and my personal favourite over the 5 days we holidayed in Krakow. To be honest I had done some research and we did not have a bad meal. Being on the main tourist trail in the old town from The Main Square to The Castle then prices reflect this prime location. We ate in the... More

We went to Pod Aniolami on our last night in Krakow. I had the pork meat with bacon, baked apple, cranberries and horseradish sauce which was delicious and very filling! The restaurant is very close to the main square. The staff were friendly and their English was good. I would recommend this restaurant.

There are perks to this restaurant- mainly the ambience and the lovely staff. Unfortunately the food mostly disappoints. The lard/smalec that came with the bread was bland and unremarkable. The starter of mushrooms was good- very tasty and well roasted. The star from the grill was a let down. I ordered the wild boar steak and it came pink. I... More

Dear Sir or Madam, I am very sorry that We missed with the degree of grilled meat to satisfy you. Lard (refreshments from the chef) served with rustic wholemeal bread, closer to our honorable guests the flavors of traditional Polish cuisine. I hope that our refreshments (the famous mint liqueur) at least partially compensated for your displeasure. We are pleased... More

This is a very good place not to loose during a visit to Krakow, it is very nice inside and pleasant outside with small tables along the road. The food was delicious, I had a mix of Pierogi as appetizer and a marinated pork chop as main. All very tasty and in good quantity. Didn't like so much the Polish... More

Restaurant Pod Aniolami - Under the Angels" is an extraordinary place. Some people say there are indeed angels in its Gothic cellars... The Restaurant, a laureate of many 1 st awards and distinctions, invites you to original, unforgettable and unique banquets. The place is far-famed for its marinated meats, grilled over beech hardwood fire and other old Polish dishes. The restaurant's historical 13th century interiors and brilliant cuisine based on Polish culinary traditions will make you soak up the atmosphere of the Medieval Kings' City of Cracow. At "Under the Angels" time stood still and one can still find the ambience of old Cracow here. Beautiful interiors and excellent cuisine attract renowned guests from all over the world. On the 1st floor, we invite you to The Chamber of Wawel Castle's Comptroller where during private banquets one can admire 18th century polychromes. There is also a charming year-round open garden with a mosaic fountain to which one can always drop a coin wishing to come back to this unusual place. The restaurant is located in a 13th century building at The Royal Route, leading to Wawel King's Castle. For over three hundred years the building was the residence of Cracow's goldsmiths who also had their workshops there. Today, the Skarbiec Gallery, next to the restaurant, offers artistic jewellery made by leading Polish artists.
