Excellent food and service

We had been recommended to visit this restaurant by a family member and so glad we did. We ordered calzone pizza and a goat's cheese salad with a portion of roast potatoes with rosemary. The food tasted gorgeous and was well presented. We were given a complimentary cherry vodka free of charge at the end of our meal. The staff and service was brilliant. Including 2 main meals, addtl side of potatoes, basket of bread and 3 pints the bill was 150 klotky. We would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Outstanding dinner!

We stopped by for dinner on a Friday evening, the waitress working the outside terrace was super friendly and welcoming. The service was brilliant and food outstanding - small portions of pasta but they were filling and so tasty! Thanks for looking after us and for our dinner. Would highly recommend.

Good Italian food

Having had a 9 course taster menu on New Year's Eve, New Year's day we wanted something simple and this was just the ticket. My husband really enjoyed his pizza. I had pasta which was delicious. We finished off with tiramisu. The waiting staff were very helpful and attentive. Would certainly recommend. And as a lovely touch they give diners a paper bag to take away containing delicious Italian biscuits.

Just don't. Stay away if not for a beer. NO

I did mean what I wrote in the title of this review. Situated at the corner of the largest medieval square of Europe, this pseudo-Italian restaurant doesn't deserve you to try it. Stay away. I was surprised by the very short wait of the food preparation, in not even five minutes they managed to serve a pizza and a carbonara. The Pizza was more of a cold, dry pita with some white ham on top, almost coming straight from a fridge. Very surprised by the reputation on trip advisor. It might be pleasant, around the sunset time, to stop there for a beer considering its position, but don't dare to eat in there. I'm just back home, got a bellyache now.

Service let it down..

This restaurant is located on the main square we visited on our last night in Kraków. Service was fairly slow but it was busy so can be forgiven. We ordered starters then I ordered a pizza, the waitress said the pizza would be an hour, not sure why, but in the end it wasn't anywhere near an hour. The toilets were closed off due to a blockage, I was told I should go and use the toilet next door which I did but felt uncomfortable walking into another restaurant and going straight to the toilet especially when I was getting funny looks from waiters. The food was good. Came to pay and the waitress asked if I wanted to pay the service charge to which I replied no, as I felt the service wasn't anything special and I had to leave the restaurant to use the toilet!! Her face dropped when I said no and after we had paid she marched off and didn't say another word. I think it should be up to the customer if they leave a tip rather than been made to feel like you must.

Very poor and unfriendly service by a male mid-age waiter

Food was quite nice although a bit overpriced for its quality (comparing to Nolio or Pergamin for example). Waiter (man in his late 40's) was not friendly and did not show the level of hospitality we used to get in other Cracovian restaurants. He gave bread with olive oil which is their amuse-bouche to every table except ours and allow us to leave with the feeling that we were not kind of guests he expected to have.

Delicious food, nice to sit outside

The food at la grande mamma was very delicious. They only had spaghetti with tomato sauce as a vegan dish, but the sauce had such a nice flavour that it didn't taste boring at all. My friends who had the lasagna enjoyed it too. Also the tiramisu is highly recommendable! You can find cheaper restaurants in Kraków but sitting outside at the main square and having nice food makes up for it.

Good food, long waiting time

We ordered the carbonara and the fresco pizza. Both were very delicious, however it should be mentioned that the pasta portion was very small. It took approximately 40 minutes until we got the main courses, and 60 minutes from we ordered the dessert until we got it, which I honestly think is way too long for a dessert. The restaurant wasn’t even half full. The atmosphere was nice (we sat outside), but the tables were quite crammed and close together.

Lovely dinner

We arrived in Krakow quite late and were staying in the hotel connected to the restaurant so decided to eat here. The food is very good and excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and the restaurant itself is nicely decorated and divided into small rooms with only a few tables, which makes for a more private dining experience.

Good for coeliacs, 3 options for dessert!

Went here as I had read good reviews for gluten free. Any of the pasta dishes can be made as gluten free so I had one with tomato sauce and burrata which was very tasty. Forgot to order the smaller size portion which I had also spotted you could do. Left some so had room for dessert! 3 gluten free options. I chose the chocolate fondant which was extremely tasty. Good value at less than £20 for each of us and we had main, dessert and 2 glasses of wine. Friendly service and beautiful venue. Would recommend

Terrible customer service, obnoxious staff

4 of us came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. We specifically wanted to eat outside so accepted we had to queue for this. When we reached the front of the queue we were not acknowledged by any of the staff, in fact they went out of their way to ignore us. When we were eventually seated and it look 25 minutes to place a drink order whilst we watched people around us who arrived after us getting their food before we’d even had a drink!! The staff were uninterested, dismissive and very unfriendly. I accept they were busy but at no time did they apologise for the delay. The food was average and we had to ask again for a side dish we had ordered as it was not brought out. When we received the bill, the waitress who had been particularly obnoxious said was it ok to add a 10% service charge!!! We obviously said no!

Be prepared for a long wait!

Disapppointing. We were really looking forward to eating here on my birthday, and asked the day before whether we needed to book in advance to eat in the outside heated glass chalets that all the restaurants have. We were told that no, it would be fine, and we would be able to eat outside without booking. On arrival we were told that we couldn’t sit outside, only inside. Inside was actually nice, and quite big. However, after an hour and a half, all we had received from our order was some garlic bread. The food when it eventually arrived, was ok, but certainly not good enough to rave about. We wouldn’t go back, and we wouldn’t recommend this restaurant unless you have all the time in the world to sit and await your food!

The worst restaurant I’ve ever been at

I regret that I didn’t read the reviews before visiting this place. We decided to go out on the New Year’s Eve with our family, so I wrote an email to get the information about this day and make a reservation. I was told that we have to pay 80 zl per person as a deposit. Later my husband went to the restaurant in order to discuss all the details and pay this deposit. Also he asked whether this money will be used as part of the bill, so we can eat on this amount and a manager confirmed it. Everything was paid and then comes the 31th of December. In general, the food was fine as well as the service. At the end of the evening we receive a bill and get a New Year surprise: our 80 zl deposit per person is added to the total bill and it is NOT a deposit, BUT an entrance fee! In addition we have service fee added to the total amount and ALSO for this entrance fee. Can you imagine this? The next morning we came to clarify this situation and another manager told that everything is correct and there’s no mistake. We asked to be given a complaint book, but the restaurant asked for some time to discuss it with the manager my husband spoke to. Later this manager agreed that they miscalculate us but only for 80 zl (and proposed us a voucher on this amount, not even a return, unbelievable!) and also she said, that my husband was told many times that it’s an entrance fee, not a deposit and asked if it’s clear for him. Also she said that my husband has poor knowledge of English, so he didn’t get her idea. But when we asked her why she didn’t give any written note about the details if she’s so intelligent and have enough qualification to rate the level of other’s people knowledge of foreign language, she told that it would be rude from her side to do like this (to assess the language knowledge, evidently, not rude for the manager, as you can see). And, finally, we came to the restaurant (on the 7th of January) with a request to get the camera recording from the day my husband and this manager discussed the details at the entrance, to dot all the i’s, and there’s still no answer from their side. Ultimately, if they had told in a kind manner that it’s a misunderstanding and they’re sorry about that (considering the fact that they admitted the fact of miscalculating us), I would not spend my time and writing all this. But they they showed the highest unprofessionalism and that they don't care about their customers and reputation (as far as I can judge from past negative reviews). Totally do not recommend.

lovely food but slow service !

We made a booking for this restaurant at 8pm, we ordered the polish Solaris white wine, it was lovely! Definitely would recommend! We had a sharing platter with cheese, ham, salami, bread, artichoke, sun dried tomatoes and plum jam to start, and it was just what we had been fancying all day! We then shared a pizza with cheese, ham and rocket and pasta with spinach, chicken and sun dried tomatoes. Both meals were lovely and we had both starters and mains within an hour and a half, we were hungry but not starving so we waited with no worry. However, we couldn't help but notice tables around us were getting one main dish and not the other, we watched one man on a table next to us watching his girlfriend eat for 15 minutes before he got his own meal, a table of 3 ladies were sat opposite and two had finished their mains before the third arrived. We also had to ask someone for the bill on three separate occasions before it eventually arrived. We were also given complimentary biscuits at the end. The food was amazing, and our service was great, but I think if you were to book any later than 8pm you may encounter service issues, or it might just be a few mix ups, I know how it is working in hospitality!

Decent food but no service

We ordered our pasta but no drinks and, as a result, weren’t brought any water nor glasses. When she brought our food, the waitress didn’t bring any bread or cheese, even salt & pepper seemed to be optional. The worst part was when we got our check and noticed that it came with a note explaining that service wasn’t included and that a tip was expected. Needless to say we didn’t give any tip, as there had been no service to begin with
