What a fantastic place on entering we were met with a fabulous string quartet playing local folk music. The restaurant is long and thin but opens out at the back,there is a roaring wood fire and an open kitchen where the magic happens. I had what was termed as a proper sized pork knuckle cooked with honey and white wine and a side of sourkraut It was large and cooked to perfection with lovely crispy crackling, my wife had chicken kebab cooked on the fire also fab. Great music in a candle lit setting and very friendly staff. Set on the main square look out for the life size bull in the entrance

We were there in early January, when it was cold outside and very warm atmosphere inside.
Our waiter Woytek gave us the best service, friendly advised on traditional Polish meal and served everything with pleasure.
We've really enjoyed the atmosphere and the delicious food. Live music made a additional impression!

There are many restaurants in Krakow but not easy to choose where to eat exactly. We did not make mistake this time. Staropolska restaurant in the main square of Krakow serves delicious food. The atmosphere is romantic and traditional. It is always full of people, sometimes customers need to wait until seats are available. The service was great and very professional and the food very delicious. Try the cheesecake for dessert, not heavy, very light, not so sweet and very satisfying.

This place was bustling during our visit. The pizzas are fresh to order, baked in a traditional pizza oven. The location is great with speedy service. During the evenings they often have live music around to be enjoyed. Worth a try.

What can I say?! This was a last minute booking made by my colleagues, there were 20 of us.
We were seated straight away and drinks were ordered. Then I ordered the sheep's cheese as a starter and the Chicken Shaslick with a side of roasted potatoes and garlic sauce. All our meals arrived promptly although I was slightly envious of the colleagues who ordered steak as they were served sizzling on 300 degree stones! Wow!
You can see all the food being cooked on a big grill and we were all full after such delicious food. I just about managed a pannacotta for dessert!
I plan to come back with my husband and I will definitely come here again with him!

We walked into the restaurant without having any past information about it, however it proved to be a highlight from our trip to Krakow. The staff are extremely helpful and friendly allowing some insight into Polish cuisine, the food is excellent and there's plenty of variety. Highly recommended for anyone looking to experience Polish cuisine in the very historic center of Krakow.

I've had 3 diners on that place which is part of a larger entity mixing up Polish and Italian cuisines. Therefore, the choice is large enough too. The food is good and prices are reasonable despite the fact this is on the most touristic location of the city. The dishes are well prepared and generous enough. There is also a long list of drinks to satisfy all. The service is very helpful with a special attention to Andrei who has always been very diligent and of good advice (great thanks to him !). Do not hesitate to taste Polish cuisine rather than pizza's (although very good too) ... you're in Poland after all (so do not forget tasting vodka too) !

We were looking somewhere to eat. Plenty of places around the Square. Some of them better then the others. We stopped at the Staropolska Restaurant and instantly knew we would like to eat here. Their outside menu was well maintained. That was already good sign. Since we didn’t have reservation, we’ve been asked to wait 5-10 minutes. We’ve been taken to the table and presented with the menu. Drink order has been taken and delivered promptly. It wasn’t easy to order food, as my friend is fussy eater, doesn’t share food and additionally she’s English 😀 I’ve managed to convince her to share some of the dishes. It was all delicious and nicely presented. We had Polish meat platter, potato pancakes with beef stew and selection of dumpling. We’re back to the UK now, but my friend can’t stop talking about the food we had and about the service. I wish I could get the waiting staffs’ names as you were all very attentive, informative and friendly.
In addition, while having dinner there was a trio playing folk music. They were great and need to be mentioned as well. Fantastic!
I definitely be recommending the Staropolska Restaurant and hopefully will visit again.

The menu choice is far more inclusive than most restaurants around the square. Perfect location. Booking is advisable. Very comfortable surroundings. Our waitress was called Kinga, her service and friendliness was outstanding!!! Any restaurant owner would be poaching her to work for them. As a family of 6 we had between us Steak, Trout, Pizza, Beef Stew and Chicken with mozzarella and sun dried tomatoes. We didn’t leave a bit. We also had a very welcomed vodka shot upon paying the bill. I would also recommend the house white.. cheap and delicious.

I recently dined here with friends on a whim as we wanted to try traditional Polish cuisine whilst staying in Krakow. This restaurant is well located on the square with lovely outdoor tables and a cosy interior. We had the mixed pierogi (dumplings) to share for starters which were excellent, one of the group also had traditional potato cakes with gulash soup that was equally as delicious. The overall experience was topped off by fantastic service from our waiter- I will certainly be back when next in Krakow!

After a number of visits to the terrace for a beer, we also ate inside in the evening.
As fast as the service was on the terrace, it is just as slow inside. Little attention to the customer.
Unfortunately the pork leg was gone, replaced by goulash with flat potato cakes. Goulash was fine with enough meat. The potato cakes were cold in no time and no longer tasty.
My partner had a chicken schnitzel with fries and a salad. Schnitzel was thin and large. Outer edge dry and not too flavorful. It also cooled down quickly, even though we were sitting inside. The salad was leaky at first: warm cabbage with pork and herbs that became overpowering the further you went. The waiter couldn't tell which herb was in it. According to us, coriander. Always tasty, but this was too much.
In Krakow it seems to be normal with groups of men that everyone has to hear you. In this restaurant there were 6 Dutch men who made sure you didn't want to sit for too long. In any case, I know everything about the company they worked for, who was financially good and who was not.

Ate here on our last night of our holiday, food was very tasty and our waiter very attentive. Prices are not unreasonable for the square, and like everywhere we have ate the 12% tip was included in the over all bill which is voluntary but in this case earned. Would definitely suggest to friends.

I visited here with my friend on our first evening in Kraków as we wanted somewhere with Polish cuisine. I had the potato cakes with mushroom sauce/cream and a virgin lemon mojito - they were a great choice and wished I could have them again, alas back in UK now! My friend also rated his, with trying the Polish meat platter (served 2 but he managed it himself) and another cocktail.
It certain had choices for vegetarians which I did struggle with in other days.
Theblice music gave it a great atmosphere too.

This restaurant is a restaurant I always look forward to visiting on any holiday I take to Krakow, its such a warm welcoming restaurant and in a great location.
Staropolska Restaurant looks superb, interior is fantastic, traditional, great decor and furnishings and plenty of seating options spread throughout this restaurant both inside and when the weather is good outside looking out onto the busy and beautiful Rynek Glowny.
Latest visit saw my twin brother and I enjoy a delicious pork meal here and also enjoy some great local Polish beers,restaurant was busy, a great atmosphere, staff were wonderful, just a really good restaurant to chill out in .
We really enjoyed our meal & beers in here before we moved on and as on every other visit to here we had a great time.
Staropolska Restaurant is easy to locate on Rynek Glowny,an area teeming with pubs, bars, cafe's and restaurants and some amazing architecture and a major tourist destination.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, 8am till 11pm.
Well worth checking out if you're in the area.
