Artesse Restaurant is a promise of extraordinary experiences on the level of all senses. Artesse Restaurant offers an original tasting menu based on reconstructed cuisine which draws on several-hundred-years-old recipes of Polish and European fine dining. In the Artesse culinary studio, compositions are created from the highest quality ingredients obtained from carefully selected suppliers and the menu is built on the basis of the old culinary calendar.
MICHELIN Guide: Good cooking
In four 16th Century tenement houses in the city’s Old Town lies the luxury H15 Palace Hotel; within it sits this smart, contemporary restaurant with a glass roof, tropical plants and bright modern artwork. Choose from two tersely worded tasting menus that use seasonal produce in reinventions of historical Polish recipes. Precise presentation, bold flavours and creativity help to make each dish a success. Engaging service and a hint of theatre add to the overall enjoyment.

We enjoyed a five course meal for two, which was impressive in every respect. Each course was prepared with great attention to detail, artfully arranged and beautifully decorated. The creations were not only unique, but also culinary at the highest level. Especially fascinating was the idea of the chef to dedicate the aisles to the stories of ladies, which gave the evening a very special touch. Another highlight was the personal farewell by the boss, which rounded off the evening in a charming way. A small improvement suggestion concerns the beverage service, which could be a little faster. It would also be a nice touch to help guests put on their jackets and ask for a taxi. These small details would make the already great experience even more perfect. It is certain for us: The next time we visit Krakow we will gladly come back!

We booked Artesse after reading outstanding reviews- our experience partly lived up to the reviews and for us, that was down to Karolina, our waitress for the evening who took us through 'chapter by chapter' and explaining where the idea for the dish originated from, alongside the simultaneous touches. In this sense, we'd never experienced anything like it. The food itself, for us, was okay. Some chapters stood out to us and we're simply outstanding whereas others, not so much so. We had an unfortunate experience with a hair on one of the dishes (it looked like beard hair, with the root attached,) however when this was pointed out and subsequently 'reviewed' by the chefs, we were informed that they believed this to be a hair off part of the components of the dish (sturgeon, elk, pumpkin and tomato.) This made us feel somewhat dismissed and it very much felt like an easy response for them. Overall, the presentation of the dishes and experience provided in itself was brilliant. Could you eat somewhere in Krakow with better food and for considerably cheaper, unfortunately for us the answer is yes. If you want a wonderful experience and are willing to pay the price for this, you'd absolutely love it.

Fabulous food experience which began with the menu presented as an invite to a story that linked the beautiful palace location with its noble past. Each of our delicious ten courses were presented with interesting descriptions - all linked to the history of Krakow. At the same time the sommelier then took us on a different journey around Europe sampling wines that matched beautifully. All of the waiting staff were attentive but not pretentious, enthusiastic about the food and accompanying stories and we loved it. We would not be surprised if this restaurant achieves a Michelin star in the very near future. It is worthy of it in our view.

Artesse is a restaurant that is trying to get a Michelin star, but we are still far from getting it. The location is pleasant, maybe it was a little cold, but the feeling was pleasant We experienced two "Long Story" menus. Some flavors were great, others a little less so. Two things we found really boring: at the beginning of the menu we were offered the option to choose between caviar or oysters. There is no mention at all that they are not part of the tasting menu, that it is a paid (expensive) addition. Only later did we realize that on the menu, at the bottom, in a much smaller font is a statement bearing the price. Why smaller? Why wasn't it said by the waiter? It seems cunningly done...that's not the way you get a star. The other thing we didn't like was a service with particularly long wait times, and with interminable explanations of the dishes. I think I spent more time listening to the explanations than tasting the food. The explanations were in English. Normally English is not a problem, but the person who served us spoke very fast and especially with a foreign accent that was difficult to be understood. Foreign accent is not a problem, but in these cases, is better to speak slowly, it is not an English test Fortunately, his female colleague was much more understandable. The price seemed a bit high to us. 470 € for 2 tasting menus, and 3 drinks (no Wine). As if they already got the star, but they didn't.

A very strange new year’s meal. Tastes were poorly aligned, and there was no apparent coherence between ingredients and/or courses. Staff seemed unexperienced and very few arrangements were made to create a festive ambiance. The dining area was sterile and hardly decorated. The meal was very expensive and far from Michelin class. The wine menu was excellent, though. I am an experienced restaurant guest, and I’ve been to Michelin restaurants before, so by reference this was odd and sad - I do not recommend.

I usually don’t leave reviews - when I’m disappointed I don’t really believe they will change anything. On the other hand when I’m satisfied it’s at places about which you can already read plenty. Artesse is an interesting anomaly - a brilliant restaurant without much hype behind it. I will be very honest I found it completely by accident… And it turned out to be the highlight of my annual trip to Krakow, and maybe the whole year (which included trips to both Noma and Noma Kyoto so the bar is high!). I could dive into how breathtaking the setting is, how enchanting is the staff and obviously how delicious food is. But I think you should go and see it for yourself. Chef Suliga did what so many try but fail - created a riveting story telling the history of Polish cuisine while at the same time not making the same old dishes everyone does. They also understand what their strengths are and utilize them rather than simply trying to beat the other fine dining establishments at their own game. On top of all of that you’ll be greeted by a wonderful and knowledgeable staff who will take you on a journey across the ages. The only thing I don’t understand is - why don’t they have a star yet. But I’m sure it will come sooner than later should they maintain the same consistency level. I for one will definitely be back!

Welcoming reception. There were 3 tables already seated and to our surprise, we were seated right next to one of them, when there were 15+ other tables unoccupied. This was awkward because the restaurant was deservedly quiet and we didn’t feel we could talk, as we could hear every word our neighbours were saying. On the way to the table, I could see a very obvious stain on the tablecloth. (Acknowledgement and Apologies received later in the evening for these two issues, when mentioned to restaurant). Opted for the long story when explained by Matthew. Matthew was very passionate but we had to ask a couple of times for him to slow down his speech as we were unable to understand when he talked so fast. Matthew left us halfway through the evening although was still visible in the restaurant - which felt very odd and not something I have come across before. We were then served by a female - who was lovely but very ‘scripted’ and Cyrean. Cyrean was incredibly passionate about the food here and the history which came across throughout. He was also extremely personable and was a part of what we loved most about the experience (please don’t crack your knuckles though). Having opted for the wine pairing we felt this was perfect with the highlight being the sweet wine - which surprised us both. I believe Matthew paired all the wines - good job. For me, food-wise, the highlights were the bone marrow, sturgeon and veal. For my companion, the fish courses and white chocolate plum were firm favourites. The restaurant was extremely cold, necessitating outdoor jacket/wrap being left/put on, although it did warm up slightly some time after alerting staff. The restaurant has no Michelin distinctions, although it is listed, which means it is recognised as serving food to a high level (and presumably hoping for a star). Having dined at many one and two Michelin starred restaurants, I would say the food definitely deserves to be recognised for its brilliance. However, as an overall package, the experience was let down by some front of house points.

Visited this fine restaurant for our 30th wedding anniversary. What an experience it turned out to be. There is a long and a short menu depending on your appetite. We opted for the short menu and did not leave the table hungry. Any restaurant which prepares the food with such fine ingredients, skill and delicate presentation, served by extremely professional and courteous staff is high on my list. Every course was an amazing piece of art and we slowly savoured all the exquisite flavours. Honestly can’t shout about this place enough. Dmytro - you are the best!

Our evening at Artisse was outstanding. From the moment we were greeted at the door the staff was friendly and professional. We chose the ‘long story’ tasting menu with the wine pairing. Each menu item came with background on the dish and followed a theme of notable women in Polish cuisine, starting with the woman who wrote the oldest known polish cookbook. Each dish was beautifully composed and every plate and bowl was uniquely part of the artistic plating. Nearly every bite was perfect. My favorite dish was a simple dish of morel mushrooms in a garlic aioli, we also particularly enjoyed the trout and pike dish with asparagus. My friend loved watching the finishing details be applied to all of the dishes at the counter that was behind me. The meal ended with a dramatic flair with dry ice and strawberries. Our waitress, Karolina, was absolutely lovely and managed our service with precision. The sommelier was enthusiastic and knowledgeable, introducing us to wines from around Europe, including a gorgeous red from Poland. It was the perfect evening for our weekend in Krakow.

We enjoyed the ‘long story’ tasting menu here and really enjoyed it. We love to explore the food and always try to experience a tasting menu when in a new city. The restaurant itself is bright and well lit, though it was very quiet when we visited on a Thursday evening. Our server was Caroline and she was knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. The food was so good from start to finish. As I don’t eat oysters they happy made me a different dish to start with no fuss. The thought, presentation and flavours that went into each dish was incredible. We really enjoyed the story that was told about the origins of each dish or why the chef had chosen that dish. A lovely evening with great food and great service.

This restaurant is a good choice if you want a gourmet twist on Polish cuisine. Here you get a good introduction to Polish food history from the waiter. The food is generally delicious and served beautifully. Good service. It deducts a star that the waiter/restaurant was unable to serve a well-composed alternative to the wine menu. We just got some more or less random juices/lemonades.

The best experience of our lives. The service was first class, especially Mrs. Katia and Mrs. Karolina, who described the dishes and wines served with heart. I have never been served so perfectly. The food is delicious, it's nice to try new flavors. We will be happy to return in the future.

The food is outstanding and delicious . Service is exquisite . The chef is very knowledgeable. Wine pairing for 10 dishes was great . The restaurant is inside H 15 luxury palace hotel which indeed looks like a palace . The only problem is they don’t tell you about a surcharge for every little thing they add that you might assume is part of the prefix menu ( caviar , vodka to be served with caviar , they only told me about a surcharge for truffles , which I totally agree with ). Bottom line is dinner for 2 people ended up being $700 , and 50% more than I expected when I signed up for wine pairing prefix menu .

Excellent dining experience! Staff was very friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable about the history of the venue as well as the food that was being served. Testing menu was well thought out, prepared with the highest level of detail and simply scrumptious. Esthetics and presentation were impressive and unlike anything I’ve experienced before. Perfect place to celebrate a special occasion or spend a romantic evening together

We had the pleasure of dining at Artesse for me and my girlfriend's first anniversary together, and our expectations were more than met, shattered indeed. Firstly the palace that hosts the restaurant was beautiful and since we firstly entered the windowed door we were kindly and elegantly met by the coat checker who took our coats and brought us to Karoline, the waitress who accompanied us throughout this wonderful journey. We were promptly seated in a spot of our choice and shortly after Karoline began introducing us to the history of the palace and subsequently of the restaurant that came to be and also of the chef's culinary heritage and journey. Karoline was very kind, well-spoken and felt very passionate about her job and about the history of the restaurant and of all the dishes that we had the pleasure to eat on our special evening. The service in general was perfect, we couldn't perceive the slighest mistake by any of the staff, for all the duration of our stay. The dishes we were served were very delicate and versatile. The complexity the chef was able to achieve with each dishes was astounding, we, most of all, apreciated the sturgeon, and deer plates, as well as the elegance of the amuse bouche. We would lite to thank the chef and all the staff for such an exellent job and for our unforgettable experience. Davvero bravissimi, complimenti!! Denis and Silvia
