I know that is a bold statement but seriously it is true!! The food here is outstanding. We had walked past at the beginning of our break and looked over the menu having already ate that night we vowed to return and so glad we did. Greeted by very friendly staff and we given a table downstairs at the window. We both wanted to try the soup I choose the beetroot with meat dumplings and my partner choose the mushroom. While we waited on our starters we were served some pork fat with bread just a wee tasting , this was also delicious and a nice touch. Our soup arrived and on first impressions I was slightly disappointed as mine wasn't served in the bread bowl but oh was I wrong to be disappointed, like I said in the title THE best food I have ever tasted. The flavours were unreal. My partner enjoyed his but agreed mine was something else. Our main was the polish plate for 1 which we shared, large portion just one. Again the flavours in each portion was outstanding and the lovely waitress kindly pointed out what everything was. We also had a side of the sweet cabbage again this was very tasty. Not forgetting the delicious Polish wine that accompanied our food. The whole dining experience from the greeting when we arrived, the setting, the food and wine, the service we couldn't of asked for anything more. We walked past the night after just to look at the menu again and saw a couple looking over it, I couldn't help myself but to tell them the MUST go inside as they would not be disappointed. Genuinely would book a trip back to Krakow just to visit this restaurant again!

We had server Iwona and she was wonderful. She suggested food and drinks. She was super friendly and checked on us multiple times. Iwona even called a taxi for us to allow us to not overpay on the street. The food was absolutely delicious and more authentic and not commercialized. I was recommended this restaurant to eat at by our hotel vs eating on the main square down town and it did not disappoint. Hidden Gem! The portion size was so generous so much food, we had to carry a doggie bag home with us.

After visiting some tourist traps which were way to expensive and not that great we stumbled upon this restaurant on our last day in Krakow. Service was great, incredibly friendly and fast. Our food arrived fast and was good. Prices were really fair considering worse restaurants 1 or 2 streets away charge double for worse food. We recommend this place 100%

We spent 5 days in Kraków, eating out at different restaurants each night. We were fortunate that we didn’t have a bad meal. On our last night we ate @ W Starej Kuchni-and oh my goodness we were utterly blown away. It’s a rustic little place, down a side road off the main square. The welcome was warmly attentive. We ordered and enjoyed drinks and complimentary bread with pork fat (try it!!) whilst we waited for our meal. The food when it came was outstanding. Rustic food, perfectly cooked. Big flavours and decent sized portions. We voted it the best meal we had eaten during our visit, our only regret being that we didn’t discover it earlier. We had no room for dessert however the latte was delicious. The ambience, service and price were all absolutely perfect. A special thank you to our charming waitress.

We visited this restaurant as it was recommended to us. We were taken aback by the exceptional customer service. Our waitress was young with dark hair and so so friendly, she couldn't do more for us. The food portions were enormous and we couldn't finish them. As a starter we received free traditional polish bread with lard spread which was a lovely touch. The dishes we ordered were tasty and good value for money. The only minus was that my wife ordered an additional side to her meal which never turned up (it wasn't included on the bill either) but she wasn't too bothered as she wouldn't have been able to eat it all anyway! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try traditional polish food that's good value and just round the corner from the market square.

Restaurant has very good deal lunch option. For 19.90 PLN so less than 5 eur you can eat classic lunch - soup + main course with tasty fruit compote. Everything was really good. Big beer for just 5 PLN. It is valid from 12:00 till 17:00 from Monday till Friday. Service was also very kind.

The restaurant is very cozy. Our food was cold, but they fixed and we got new portions, an apology and free glas of vodka. So far so good. Nothing spoiled so far. The food was very tasty, but there were a lot of fat on my ribs. My wifes was better. The portion was smaller than on the menu picture. Salat was boring. For a starter the restaurant offer you a slice of bread and homemade lard for free. Right before we left some regulars came. They got a lot more bread. In my openion service should be same to all customers. We expected more and were a bit disapointed when we left (I was also still a little bit hungry).

This restaurant was referred to us by my local colleagues and I could read some very positive recommendations ... and all got confirmed. This is a place you must visit for a true polish cuisine experience of high standards. ,The restaurant is very warmly decorated and furbished with old style elements. the atmosphere is great. the menu tells it all: you will have a large choice of typical polish food that can meet all needs. The food is just succulent and ingredients are cooked and presented to perfection. the portions are large and generous for a very reasonable price. The wine and beers list is also a delighted and one will find the he is looking for to accommodate the dishes in best possible way. One element to the care is the service which although is was ver friendly and helpful, could have been a bit more professional ... but the people were so sympathetic that is is a minor default. Please give it a try if you are passing by the beautiful city of Krakow. it is very highly recommended to book a table and to note that service usually stops early. Finally, prices are of great return on value for such a restaurant that is listed in traveler's choice.

We ate at this restaurant every night of our break in Krakow. The menu was traditional polish but there was a very professional picture menu to help you decide . The waiting staff were very friendly with good English . The atmosphere was very relaxed with some great traditional features . But the star of the show was the amazing Polish dishes . We particularly enjoyed the goulash and potato cakes and polish pork chop . Thoroughly recommend this delightful restaurant .

We stopped in here for dinner for our first of three nights in Krakow and we had a very enjoyable visit. The restaurant was very busy and I would recommend that you book in advance but fortunately a table was available. The service was excellent and we were very well looked after. We ordered the potato cakes and a trio of salads, the pork knuckle and a delicious cabbage with cinnamon flavours. We also got some bread with a pork and onion lard which was really tasty. If we had had longer in Krakow we would have come back. A really lovely restaurant with delicious food and great ambiance.

We stayed in Kraków from 15th to 22nd of September and visited the restaurant on two occasions. We had a variety of dishes which were very well cooked and served by very attentive staff. So a big thank you to all, especially Izabela and Suzan. Thank you from Scotland. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 🇵🇱

I had a borscht which was described on the menu as with potatoes but although the bowl was quite big the soup just had a half potato. Just a half. I also ordered rosemary potatoes as a side to a main, but they were very dry as though they were made previously, not fresh, but just heated up. The waitress did ask if everything was ok and I said yes. Then she smiled. I'd usually say if there was a problem but I didn't feel up to trying to describe a problem to staff when I don't know their level of English. I speak no polish. The coldness outside gave me a bit of a chill which was another reason why I did not say anything at the time. But if food was made fairly fresh there shouldn't be any need to complain. The restaurant was busy which seemed a good sign. I was disappointed. It'll make me in the future only go to a restaurant again and again whose food I enjoy and not go to places I don't know. But it was a cold night and I didn't want to wonder about. On leaving the food made me feel quite sick. I went to a shop and bought some orange juice and chocolate to help take the taste of the food away, it was that unpleasant.

Having been here many times before and enjoyed the food, our return visit - after 3 years - was extremely disappointing. The beef(!) goulash was very tough, could hardly cut it never mind chew it. We ate the most edible pieces, and when we complained at the end of the meal were told we should’ve complained at the time so were not willing to make a deduction despite leaving 3 really tough pieces for the chef to eat, because we couldn’t! They weren’t interested as tourists continue to flock. Lots of other places to eat where the food and goodwill are far superior!

Although reservations are recommended, I was able to walk in and get seated right away, perhaps because I was dining alone. I ordered the roast duck, served with dumplings, an excellent sour cherry, apple and pear sauce, and really yummy red cabbage. The bread was also very good, and the service was excellent.

We went here on our first day in Krakow as it was very close to our flat and had good reviews. We soon discovered why the reviews were so good! The restaurant is very cozy and beautifully decorated with traditional Polish elements. The food was so delicious and reasonably priced. Be warned the portions are big, so ask the staff for recommendations on how much to order depending on how hungry you are. The caramel and orange shots are tasty and will definitely cheer and warm you up! An absolute must try. Their borsch whitened with sour cream and mash is phenomenal. All the staff who served us where so lovely and nice, especially our waitress Kamila! She was the absolute best!! She was so sweet and helpful and even brought us some free shots on the house as a token of appreciation for being a good table! We loved this place so much, that we dinned there twice and next time we visit Krakow it will definitely be our first stop!
