About
The Galicyjska Restaurant - for the unforgettable taste of Polish cuisine St. Pijarska 9, Krakow Within the 17th century vaults of a fine old residence located in the quiet of the famous Planty, our guests from Krakow and around the world are treated to the most delicious Polish cuisine. The Galicyjska Restaurant represents traditional "Noble" Polish cuisine, and specializes in serving game: our roast leg of wild boar is first marinated in juniper, rosemary and thyme, before being served with a delicious Żubrówka (Bison Vodka) sauce. As for fish, cod fillet in lemon sauce and mushroom risotto is particularly memorable. If a group of 4 people would like to try a wider range of Polish flavours, we have the Flaming Galician Platter consisting pork, shank of veal, roast pork loin, and traditional Polish zrazy (stuffed beef roulade). From our soup selection, the connoisseur of Polish cuisine should not miss our mushroom soup with noodles And for dessert, perhaps hot apple pie. The interior of the restaurant is perfect for relaxed, unhurried dining. The discrete décor enhances the beauty of the ancient bricks that were used to build the walls and ceiling vaults. Time spent in the Galicyjska will complement your sightseeing around Krakow with culinary experiences that you will cherish for a long, long time - just like the taste of drinking honey, a glass of which we serve to each of our valued guests as a farewell toast.

Elegant restaurant with a romantic atmosphere. Honestly I was skeptical after reading the reviews, but we were satisfied. I took the wild boar with grilled vegetables, a well-made dish and very fine in flavor, my partner took the stuffed peppers in the oven. The dishes are more expensive than other restaurants but here you pay for the atmosphere and the original beauty of the place.

Dinner with friends while visiting Krakow. The restaurant is located right in the center near the main street that leads to the central square. It is located in the basement, after a couple of ramps you reach the restaurant. Really very beautiful place, exposed bricks everywhere, soft lights and a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. I opted for the fixed menu: mixed three first courses, three mixed second courses and dessert. Everything from the typical local cuisine. All delicious, cooked perfectly and tasted great. The soup served on a hollowed out loaf is something you should definitely try. Excellent service, the waiter who serves us is the one who follows us throughout the evening in case of requests and needs. He spoke good English, and with every question he explained what the dishes consisted of. The menu was in English but the information was limited. The waiting times didn't seem excessive to me either. The place was full but everything arrived quickly. Price/Quality I would say the top. In the end there were 6 of us, where everyone had at least two courses, a glass of wine, water, beer and coffee: €30 each. If you are in those parts go there, it's worth it.

Arrived in the evening, we asked for a restaurant nearby and we were recommended this (also noted on the city map, which is available in hotels). There is probably an arrangement between hotels and restaurant: during our visit 5 other couples came, all with the “recommendation” of their hotel. Very cozy ambience (vaulted cellar with (still) Christmas decoration and candles), typical, regional food, but more of a restaurant for tourists than for locals. Moderate prices, food ok, service friendly. There are better, typical restaurants such as Pod Aniomali.

A restaurant with Polish food. We were seated at a distant table in a dark and unpleasant corner. We thought the food would be delicious so it wouldn't bother us, the portions are large and the food not more than ok…and as soon as we receive the food the waiter disappears so if you need salt or bread or water which we didn’t get you won't be able to do it in a reasonable amount of time. At the end of the meal we had to wait over 35 minutes to ask for the bill!!! and when we saw that the waiter was not coming we simply got up and went to the payment station. At the height of their impudence, they added a 10% tip. A service that did not even deserve a 1% tip. So if they add the tip to the bill, why would they even bother to provide adequate service?! There are thousands of great restaurants nearby - go to any other one and not the one that doesn't respect customers.

The restaurant Galicyjska, was included in the program by the tour operator who organized the visit to Krakow for me, my husband and another couple of friends. Exceptional restaurant, so much so that we went back independently for dinner (not included) on July 28. Friendly and attentive staff, excellent quality food and generous portions. Nice place and great atmosphere. Definitely to recommend. Excellent value for money. Bravi!

We visited this restaraunt for evening meal (as a couple) on Saturday. First class friendly, professional service in lovely surroundings & delicious food. Our choice was to have the sharer starter for 2 then the main meat share plate for 2 however, the waiter advised against it, saying we would not be able to eat it all, so we took his advice & so glad we did. We settled for just the main sharer for 2 and the waiter was right we was stuffed after this. Definately worth a visit.

What a excellent place this is, from the free mulled wine on arrival to the excellent service throughout, the food was fantastic, we started with the dumplings which were lovely, the wild boar was full of flavour and just enough on the plate. The steak wasn’t quite cooked enough as was pink in places, however was enjoyable along with the ribs as the meat was falling of the bone when cutting into them. The apple pie for dessert is amazing and the free apple vodka helped to was it down. The bill arrived and the price including service was surprisingly less than we expected. All in all a great place to eat that won’t break the bank

This place was recommended by our daughter at the edge of the old town it has a wonderful atmosphere in The cellar with great service and very tasty food. We tried the dumplings and then both had the very tasty wild boar in a vodka sauce with roast potatoes and battered broccoli. Which was tender and delicious . The waiter greeted us with a glass of cider, a nice touch, a nice wine menu we chose the NZ Sauvignon blanc. We were too full for a dessert but we’re given a glass of Polish apple vodka. Lovely service and ambience highly recommend.

Really good choice for Polish cuisine, in a very atmospheric setting. We were given a cup of mulled wine once we were seated and ordered local food and wine. We chose dumplings to start and the mixed main for 4 people, which was huge ! To finish we had the vodka selection, which was also great. A very nice evening out and was truly great value

We visited this restaurant after it was advertised in the hotel where we were staying. We were a family of 14 (note that 2 family members are Executive Chefs working over 30 years) There it was only one person to serve. We ordered the most expensive filet (all well done) They brought all filets completely raw full of blood. We complained . None of us could eat it. They took them back and brought them in a few minutes later .They put them in the microwave and they couldn't even be cut with a knife . They saw that all of us didn't eat anything We left the plates as they were brought to us . When we asked for a discount because we didn't eat they didn't give us any discount at all. They have been informed anyway that we will write our review in order the people to know what they serve. The worst restaurant we have ever been to !

This was a gem. Make sure you get the right door to go down the stairs to a cosy brick cellar with candlelit tables. The food was excellent and reasonably priced, the staff were lovely. There was a complimentary mulled wine whilst we decided on the menu. Would definitely recommend.

This address , in an old vaulted cellar, offers traditional Polish homemade dishes. The soups are exquisite, the regional dishes delicious and hearty, all for a reasonable price. The staff is charming, attentive and welcoming. Go ahead with your eyes closed you won't be disappointed.

Pleasant atmosphere in the basement. Good service. We chose a trio of appetizers for two people (consisting of pierogi, fried cheese and soup in a bread bowl), salmon with white wine sauce and apple pie. Disappointing starters (pierogi with little flavor, chewy fried cheese, and zurek with a lot of broth and little else). Good salmon and dessert. We had asked for plain water. They brought an anonymous container to the table and on the bill we found zlt.18. All in all, the quality of the food was satisfactory and the bill was fair.

I simply cannot praise this restaurant enough. Service excellent and the sharing platter for two could have fed the 5000. The taste was very good and unlike other restaurants the salad was a side and played second fiddle to the ribs, chicken, beef and wild boar. Accompanying sauces well suited. So effectively a large two course meal with wine and apperatif cost £54. Amazing value for money.

If you in the Old Town area of Krakow this is a brilliant place to enjoy a traditional meal. It is a lovely under-ground restaurant, with friendly staff and great value traditional dishes. We loved it so much we came back again 2 nights later. I loved the traditional soup which came in a bread bowl, and the Aberdeen angus steak was delicious and cooked perfectly. Lovely strudel to finish with, and good wines and beers too. Great value & well done!
