We came to eat local Jewish food. We each chose a dish that suits the local way from a versatile list. We chose a "Gulassi-style" casserole, a white fish dish and a duck from the menu. The food was average. There was an accordion player playing on the spot, which added to the atmosphere. But he had some strange background music playing in the background of the accordion, which was quite loud. So it didn't create a very nice atmosphere for the visit. The terrace is cozy, but the smell of musty mold wafted inside.

Visited this place for the last dinner of our stay in Krakow. It has a great location, right in the heart of Kazimierz. Food was really nice. Personally, I just didn't feel the vibe of the place. We've been to other Polish restaurant literally 5min walk away and it was cosier, bigger portions and cheaper. We also didn't like the service charge being automatically added to our bill. It's the first time we experienced that in Krakow, we usually want to decide whether we want to tip based on our experience.

Really delicious meat. Was recommended a Jewish dish Cymes with beef, carrots and potatoes. Super tender and very tasty. My husband had a steak that was also really tender, with crispy potato wedges, carrots and pepper sauce. The children chose spaghetti bolognese and a burger. Both parts nice but not flashy. The restaurant's strong point is clearly the meat, and we could easily end up in the same place again. The location is really cozy and the kitchen is open late. Thanks for food.

We were a family of 6, all adults roaming around the Jewish Quarters when a man approached us and invited us to dine at his restaurant. It seemed a nice place and had an interesting menu so we decided to dine there. The manager (or owner) offered us free soft drink, so it was a small bonus. 3 of us ordered pasta as a main course, however when it arrived it the portion was so small that we decided to go to Mc Donalds to get another meal. To add insult to injury when the waiter came with the bill, to our amazment he informed us that there was a service charge of 10% on the bill, which was not written anywhere on the menu or on any sign at the restaurant. The food was good but nothing special, the portions were very small and the price was high compared to other restaurant. There are plenty of good restaurants in the area, which are much cheaper and treat customers in a decent and honest manner.

We were approached by a staff member who showed us the menu and recommended different traditional Polish and Jewish food. There was a live band playing which had us convinced however it seemed like the band was working between this one and one down the street because after 10 minutes they would stop and a band along the street would begin. Apart from the staff member trying to get people to eat there, it seemed like no one could really be bothered. Servers were stood around chatting while we waited to be served. The food was average at best and very overpriced for what it was.

We were attracted by a musician playing the violin, but after having played 5-10 minutes he stopped to play…ok, maybe to to take a break. He was back later then for 10 minutes of music and left again. Another point : no alcohol in my cocktail, my salade was without any taste, some drops of vinaigrette only and green dry leaves of salade. We had to pay for this even if 8 did not eat it. Avoid this place, you can be attracted by music like I was but it’s an expensive tourist trap. I regret spending my money there.

We were in the Jewish Quarter for a meal at another restaurant and on our walk back, came across Ptaszyl. It looked very inviting as there were lots of seats outside with heaters, so we decided to have a couple drinks outside for the evening When we sat down, a waiter came over promptly with some drinks menus, and we decided on the pina coladas. They came out at a reasonable time and they were really tasty- so much so we took a trip back specially to the Jewish Quarter to have them again! I can't comment on the food as we were only here for drinks, but its was a lovely place to have a drink outdoors in a quieter part of the city

It is located in the central square of the Jewish Quarter and combines dishes with European influences and dishes of Jewish-Polish character. The dishes very delicious and the staff very polite. Prices may be a little higher, but they are in a tourist part of the city, so these prices can be justified.

We visited Ptaszyl restaurant on a trip to Krakow. The restaurant is sited in a town square in Jewish Quarter of the city. We elected to sit in an outside covered, heated seating area adorned with twinkling fairy lights and patio heaters, it was beautiful. The food was first class. I chose a typical Polish starter of soup in a bread bowl, my partner had the beef carpaccio. Our mains were salmon which was beautifully presented and a T bone steak that was huge and represented great value for money. We were served by Sergio who was kind, helpful and enthusiastic. He chatted with us convivially and made us feel most welcome. I would highly recommend for quality of food, which was presented beautifully, attentive service and good value for money. We had no time to arrange a return visit as our trip was short but will recommend to friends.

We had a very short time between the salt mine and the airport and wanted to grab a final meal in Krakow. Looked at a few restaurants in the square in the Jewish quarter, and this one got our pick as we could sit outside but inside a heated plastic see through curtained area. We explained we were in a hurry and we were provided with quick service to order and take a drink. The food came out quick and was great. We shared some perogi dumplings and the breaded pork with sauerkraut and potato. Both dishes were fresh, tasty, and very good overall. The drinks came with the dishes, so we were very pleased with the price, the turnaround, and the friendliness of our Ukrainian waiter. Thanks !

After a few days of mediocre food we decided to try Ptaszyl in the Kazimierz area. We popped over the night before to look at the menu board and were greeted and offered a table in the cosy heated outdoor tent the following night. I can’t speak highly enough of this place and I’m thoroughly confused by some of the low scores. The food was all beautifully cooked and presented. We had a mixture of Jewish/Polish food, burgers and pastas. Each dish was faultless. The staff were all so friendly, welcoming and helpful, service was second to none. Special shout out to our waiter Sergio and the violinist who both made our night. Shame we were heading home the next day or we would have been back. Also excellent value for the standard of the food, £220 for 4 x starters 6 x main courses and 3 x desserts and countless amazing cocktails. 10/10!!

Genuinely the worst service and food I have experienced on any holiday. Invited in by staff outside, given the smallest table for 4 people. Ordered a gin and got a dirty glass. Ordered food and wrong burger was brought to the table, one friend ordered a salad and basically got a bowl of dry leaves. The fish and risotto had no flavour at all. The waitress asked my friend if she enjoyed the salad and when she was told no there was no response. Asked for the bill and the waitress kept it under her arm while offering me the card machine. I asked to see it and the card machine was held right next to me the whole time. I wish I had noticed the 10% service charge as I would have asked for it to be removed. I can see some reviews are good for this restaurant which shocks me, maybe we got there on a bad day. Before anyone thinks I am just the type to complain, I have left 5 star reviews for other restaurants and had beautiful meals the rest of the trip.

My experience at Ptaszyl was disappointing from start to finish. We popped in for cocktails before going out for dinner else where, only to regret it immediately upon tasting them— they were simply awful and WARM. To make matters worse, at the end of our visit, we were informed that a service charge had been added, which I had to dispute since I couldn't even finish my drinks due to their poor quality. Unfortunately, no resolution was offered. Overall, it was a frustrating and unsatisfactory visit.

Awful steak, cow was obviously fed on car tyres, old lino and tarmac, could have eaten through an old slipper easier. Told them and they gave me a shot of cherry....why thank you for that it more than makes up for it....no wait is doesn't, T bone steak......more like x rated bone steak, awful food, do not be kidded by the hype. If the restaurant replies to me and defends itself then maybe you should listen to your customers, any how off back to old blighty where the cows are sweeter.

This place is fantastic. The waiting staff were friendly and polite. Also the food tasted amazing. We ate here 3 times during our holidays and had different meals each time and they were all delicious. I would give them 10 out of 10 and if we ever come to krakow again we will definitely be eating here.
