Absolutely delicious goulash with potato cake. We came twice in 3 days it was that good. Definitely a must try in Krakow.
Good food in this restaurant and something a little different from the Polish food on offer in the city. Restaurant is Hungarian and food is slightly different but similar to Polish. I had goulash soup to start, very nice and a very large portion. Followed...by Hungarian chicken, (waiter did not suggest or recommend sides so unfortunately all I got was a piece of chicken in sauce) My wife had dumpling type food but these were not what she wanted but this was a mistake in her part as they were larger than the pierogi type food she was expecting. Said dumpling were very tasty as I had them with my chicken - problem solved.More
Food and prices are great. The restaurant it’s nice and clean, but the waitress rude, never came when we need it him. To bad because the food was awesome but the service 😩

I was in Krakow a number of times for business over a three year period. Every trip I make at least one stop at Balanton. The goulash was served over potato pancakes and was wonderful. If you are in Krakow make sure to stop in.
Eaten here twice on our trip to Krakow. Exceptional food . Lovely Hungarian Goulash soup . Potato cakes and veal amazing. The male waiter was so good at his job . Great value.

We went to this place as it is a restaurant with a 50 years of tradition and experience.Spacious,quiet and well designed with air conditioning Lovely,multiple and simple menu We had traditional Hungarian dish-potato pancakes with goulash (Placki po Wegiersku z gulaszem) Wow!!!!!! Our first night here we spent it in Balaton. I had the Beef goulash and potato cakes which was soooo tasty and so much of it! I drunk the beer and raspberry syrup and it was really delightful. My partner had Hungarian chicken breast dish...which he also really enjoyed! Staff was so welcoming and polite and the cost was so cheap for what we got! Will definitely be visiting again.More
Third time we have been here, it remain unchanged in its offer of good honest Hungarian food. The dishes are large and filling, even the soups are big and dramatic in their presentation. Different types of potato goulash always satisfying. Good for veggies but be...careful to check. For example bean soup actually comes with meat and the fish soup had bones which can be difficult to eat.More
Bean soup - NOT VEGETARIAN!!! Sent back, no other food was vegetarian except FISH. Bill arrived and the returned to kitchen Bean Soup was CHARGED!!!! Partner loved his meal. I ate a portion of chips...
Did lots of research and based on positive feedback, decided on Balaton for dinner tonight. The website says dinner is served until 22.00 (Trip Advisor says 23.00). Arrived at 20.40 for a table to be told the kitchen was closed! No food, only drinks. Please...make sure your information is correct. Very poor.More
If you like Hungarian goulash then this is the place to go. We had 2 x large goulash with potato cakes & 2 x alcoholic drinks for around just £20. Would highly recommend.
