Mix of different sensations... Place and location are nice. Food is very good and dishes preparation/presentation are perfect. Services is a bit rough and naive. I ordered a glass of champagne but was gives only half glass just because the bottle finished (had to complain...to get a standard glass). My wife ordered a kir royal but it was tasting wired, don't think they used crème de cassis.More

We ate here twice and we can only recommend it. The quality of the main courses we had and the fantastic dessert (and I don't like sweets at all) deserve highest praise. Lovely, sensitive and competent service by Mr. Pavlo. A couple of remarks to...make that do not take away our happiness after having eaten here: 1. the menu is quite confusing. there's one salad, then appetizers, then sandwiches (eg. club sandwich), then two pasta dishes, then main courses and desserts. It is difficult to know if pasta is meant as primo or how to treat a salad. the mixing of dining menu with bar menu does not work and, as we found out, will be soon changed (it was Covid-based decision which we understand). 2. First courses, although very good, lack character and are not memorable, especially after fantastic main courses. with the chef's obvious talent, this could be a nice fieds of exploration too. 3. Wine card is quite strange with a complete price gap: very payable wines of 200-300 PLZ are contrasted with some for 3000-4000 PLZ. 4. The chirs should be definitely changed - even people of good stature sit very low, not to mention smaller persons. Otherwise everything was lovely and we are looking forward to eating here soon again. Thank you for keeping food and service quality despite obvious Covid problems and restrictions in last two years.More

My family was celecrating our dads 60th birthday. We had the tasting menu. Me personally was not blown away by the food and how they combined the tastes at each course. I would prefere a little more freshness to the heavy meat and cheese. The...fish course smelled and tasted very seafood and may be a sign of not he freshest fish. The wine and dessert was very good though. And they gave our dad a complimentary dessert. It was small portions, and it took very long time between each course. At two occations they forgot our drink order. All in all the experience was okey, but my expectations was higher.More

We tried the tasting menu with alcohol tasting too and it was a "crescendo" of pleasure. The amuse bouche they was a perfect opening, with the bread and herb butter. The trout tartare with compressed curry cucumber and pressed Apple with homemade crème fraîche was...wonderful. The chilled beetroot soup was sweet and sour with a perfect balance. The fish main with with mangetout, cherry tomatoes and chicken stock foam was super tasty. The lamb ( perfectly cooked and rested )with the cabbage remoulade with mini lardons, puree and gravy was simply beautiful. The cherry sorbet was a perfect pre dessert, it really cleaned our palate and the acidity of that was amazing. The dessert was honestly the asked if was possible to do the compliment to the Chef and the kitchen crew because they really deserve it and he directly went to bring the truffles to our table and we had a beautiful chat. Super reccomanded, we will go back for another tasting menu as soon as possible.More

It was nice, if a little cold evening in Gdańsk, after I've checked in to my hotel nearby, I went for a walk along Motława river, to find a place for dinner. The choice was aplenty, but I've moved along, till I came across the...Mercato restaurant within the Hilton Hotel, and on a whim, decided to walk in. Right from the start, I felt welcomed, and soon, after, my host Dawid, shown me to my table, presented with pretty looking menu, and a little booklet, explaining a little what Mercato is about. I chose the tasting menu, with wine flight - as everything looked good, and I hoped not to miss on anything. Delicious home-made breads were followed by venison tartare with pickled mushrooms and mustard, accompanied by a shot of Machandel - local juniper vodka with prune - great flavours all around - very strong start to the meal. "Fish soup without fish" was to follow, a nice potato consommé, which didn't reach the level of the previous dish, was still good, clean tasting. Next arrived panfried plaice with unusual kvass sauce - well balanced dish, very good flavour combinations - especially delicious cabbage puree and the mentioned sauce. Lamb shank was the main course of the meal, with chestnuts, cognac, and mushrooms, including pickled chanterelles (rarely done well, and here - best I've ever had!) - rich, and tasty dish. For dessert, I was served a choux profiterole, filled with delicious almond cream, and a tonka bean ice cream (I believe), very good dessert, let down just a bit by less than perfect choux pastry - not a big problem, as flavours were right up my street. The meal was finished with smart looking petit fours in form of chocolate truffles (very good indeed). Last, but absolutely not least - the whole meal was elevated by Dawid, who was chatting with me, explaining the philosophy behind the scenes, and suggesting good wines, and providing all around smooth, professional, and yet laid back service - very well done! Easily the best service I've ever had in Poland, by a long mile! I'm very happy I chose to dine at Mercato that night, and I'm sure I'll go back next time visiting Gdańsk. Keep up the good work, and I'm sure the awards will follow!More

Time for a visit to the city Gdansk, Poland. Besides the fact that Gdansk is a beautiful historical city to see, restaurant Mercato is the main reason for our visit. The restaurant is situated in the famous Hilton hotel, right at the side of the...Moltawa river. If you have the chance to stay at this hotel, make sure to check out the terrace bar on the top floor, which actually is the highest bar of the old town of Gdansk. Since 2011, the kitchen of restaurant Mercato is lead by head chef Mercato is Pawel Stawicki. He worked at several 1, 2 and 3 starred restaurants, through which he developed a modern cooking style based on classic techniques. The ingredients used at restaurant Mercato may be from around the world, but you can also notice that the chef remains dedicated to use local culinary traditions. This has always been the essence of Gdansk cuisine. An intense start at the restaurant is created by a heavy shot of local liqueur. Ok, we’re awake and fully ready for our dinner now! The dish this liqueur is accompanying is a fresh roe deer tartare with cauliflower and mustard. Surprisingly, these two form a fantastic combination. The second course of potato soup with mushrooms manages to calm us down a bit, before going to our healthy shot of apple, celery and melon. Fried plaice, with armillaria mushrooms, cabadge puree and Kvass sauce is our favorite dish of the menu: the fish could not be more fresh. The head course is a heavy one: pork with three types of mushrooms. The quantity however, is just perfect. A fresh and light finale is provided by our lime dessert, with an espresso martini to close the evening. All seen together, restaurant Mercato is the perfect spot for a (business) dinner in the center of Gdansk. Although there were some minor inaccuracies regarding the service inside the restaurant, we had a beautiful dinner at restaurant Mercato and a fantastic stay at Hilton hotel.More
