About
The oldest restaurant in Gdańsk. In the interwar period, then called Kubicki Cafe International, the restaurant functioned as a night café and it was one of the trendiest places at that time in Gdańsk. Kubicki Restaurant still receives wide recognition not only among the residents of Gdańsk, but also among the visitors from all over the world. Exquisite cuisine, unique atmosphere enriched with performances of piano singers are undeniable reasons why this place is worth visiting. This is one of the last places where the spirit of This City has been preserved.

We had a great time here, one of our best meals while on vacation (including Copenhagen and Malmö). We were able to sit right down in their very stylish dining room where a large party was totally enjoying themselves. Started by splitting an app of crayfish pasta which was out of this world. For an entree, we split the pork knuckle, very large portion and very tasty. Beer and wine was good, the service was awesome and for some reason, we got a free shot of apple vodka at the end of the meal. Grade A all around.

We came here for our first meal in Gdansk and what a way to introduce us to local cuisine. The interior decor is smart but comfortable. We wanted to try Polish wines but unfortunately they don't serve these by the glass so we had a tasty bottle of Italian. We had blood sausage served with pickles (very tasty) and poached egg on smoked trout (egg was overcooked but the taste was good). For mains we had the cod and the halibut, both excellent but the halibut was the star of the show (cooked to perfection with a gorgeous sauce). Dessert was chocolate ball with raspberries which was a nice way to finish off a lovely meal.

Nice place with classy Gdańsk cuisine. We went out for the fine dining evening and decided to stick to traditional tartare for the starter - highly recommend since the delivery of the dish looks truly impressive! As for the main course, we chose cod with vegetables, pork leg with potatoes and duck with red cabbage, accompanied with red Spanish wine. All the dishes were good, the meals were big and the food was of a high quality. I must admit, that meat was definitely a better option than a fish. Overall we were happy with our dinner. I rated 4 starts because due to my subjective point of view, dishes were a bit old school, though as I mentioned above, one can name them classy as well. Definitely a must visit location to taste the traditional recipes of Gdańsk cuisine.

I made reservations for 20 people and was offered a special deal of appetizers, soup and an entre for 140 pln each plus drinks. The food was wonderful, the service superb but upon going to pay, they denied the 140 and said "that was a neighborhood quote". They charged us 258 pln each plus drinks. They really ruined a great night.

We had been recommended this restaurant by friends, and were looking forward to a good experience. However, it was not. The food my partner got was well received, she was quite happy. Myself, on the other hand was not too impressed. I ordered halibut, and expected a nice cut, but got the tail piece. This had a lot of small bones that I had to pick. But, to be fair, it could be that my expectations were set by how I have had halibut served before. But, the really disappointment was the service. When we arrived, we were seated at a table with very low chairs. Since my partner is not that tall, it meant that she was left sitting very low compared to the table. So, she asked politely if we could have another table. The waiter quite rudely refused to talk to her. Another waiter however allowed us to move. After ordering the food, the waiter did not check on us or the food once. He stopped by the table only to serve us the food. When I commented on the fish, instead of listening to me, he went straight into an argument, and would not listen to what I had to say. After this, they still had the nerve to add 10% service. I realize that this is customary, but not expected when you have expressed that you are not happy. To top this, when we left the restaurant, I stopped by the outside menu to check if I had misunderstood the food I ordered. This caused a waiter to quite rudely just telling me that they were fully booked. So, to us, this was a big disappointment. But, maybe the nice waiters everyone else talks about had their day off.

We really enjoyed this restaurant on the river. The food was very good, the setting on the river was beautiful, the piano music added to the ambiance. I had the pork knuckle with cabbage and potatoes. The meat was fork tender and dipped in horseradish and mustard, divine. My husband liked his fish, but liked beans and spinach better. I would go to this restaurant again.

The restaurant was well worth a visit to taste some Polish cuisine with a fine dining twist! The deer carpaccio was outstanding, as well as the beef tartare. There was a large number of cocktail options available on the menu, all the ones we tried within our group were delicious! The service staff were very friendly and accommodating, we enjoyed some live piano music and apple vodka shots on the house! All in all it was a perfect dining experience at a reasonable cost!

We were told by a bartender, this was the place to eat. Was he right, we would recommend getting reservations, there is a lot of seating, but it is a busy place. We had a reservation for 6pm, we believe you could drop in at that time, but no later. We came to eat and we were not disappointed. I had their listed specialty Pork Knuckle, it was delicious, served with sauerkraut and roasted potatoes. It was a huge meal, I should have taken some back to the hotel. My wife had the duck, she loved it. I had a bite, it was so moist, served with a sweet / sour cabbage. We were able to take some back, because there was so much. Give this place a try, with drinks it was less than $50 for both of us.

Me and my wife went here on a Friday evening for food. I had the wild boar and she had fish. We were both stunned of how good it tasted. My meat where melting in my mouth. Probably one of the best dishes I had the last couple of years. For dessert I had apple pie and she went for the Havla Ice cream. Apple pie is apple pie, but it was excellent. Her Havla ice cream had flavors of coffee and chocolate. Great tasting! Service was good. Our waiter had a nice sense of humor and he paid great attention on our needs. A great experience and a very nice dinner. Already thinking about coming back :)

The restaurant, which looks small from the outside, is elegantly furnished inside with armchairs and a harmonious interior. The waiters are extremely attentive, from taking our jackets to pouring our wine. The food melts in your mouth. We were impressed that even trivial dishes can be cooked and prepared in such an exclusive way.

I was made to feel like I was the only patron in the restaurant. Delicious cold starter of pickles and spreads, followed by fish soup and poached cod. I couldn't ask for anything less. The dishes were perfect and the service was amazing. I look forward to my next culinary adventure with this restaurant.

Cozy first impression locally. The waiter we had was very serviceminded and accommodating. For example, on his own initiative he kept the food warm for someone in the group who had to leave for a while. We were several families and a small child. High chair was available and pencils with crayons, appreciated! A man sat and played the piano while we ate. He played several songs you recognized which was nice. Everyone was overall satisfied and very happy with the food. We ate both typical Polish traditional food but also other European food. I ate Oxfile which was fantastic and raw beef which was also very good. Big portions. What lowers the rating is that one of the waiters was clearly drunk, but despite this, worked both serving, receiving guests and doing other things. At first we thought he might be sick in some way, like diabetes, but then realized that wasn't the case. Among other things, he stood at the bar necking a bottle of wine and when they cleared the plates and were about to leave with them, we saw how he ate the leftovers from our plates, completely open. He flirted openly with a colleague rather distastefully, wobbled and dropped a few things. The pianist would have liked to have been able to press the keys a little softer, sometimes he played so hard/loud that it was impossible to talk. A tip for the restaurant is to offer the waiter help with possible alcohol problems and ask the pianist to play a little softer. Then the restaurant could get close to a five in the rating!

We emailed to book ahead and were seated inside, which was delightful - the place is old fashioned in a good way, relaxing and cosy but still smart and impressive to be in. We found the staff to be polite and efficient, but did notice a lot of people being turned away (even on a Monday night) as it was so popular - I think booking ahead is absolutely necessary. I had the rye soup and duck with red cabbage, which was amazing, one of the nicest things I've eaten. It was huge too, and regrettably I could not manage a dessert though they also looked lovely. And what a relief it is to be in an establishment where you can chat and relax, without having fierce air conditioning and muzak blasting down upon you! We would return and recommend the place heartily.

The food was poor, under-seasoned, not very expressive, and the quality was definitely not adequate to the price. Poor quality. We ate soups: smoked fish and boletus soup - they were quite ok, but the boletus soups were hard. The salad with chicken looked like something from a supermarket fridge, and the salad with grilled vegetables had almost no vegetables or taste, just pasta. I definitely don't recommend it.

Delicious dinner and nice atmosphere (small point would be to dim lights a bit and add more ambience). We had a very friendly waiter and tasty local bread, lard and pickles amuse bouche. We had fish soup and shrimp pasta to start and both excellent and beautifully presented. Mains of duck and salmon similar and a complimentary apple digestif was a lovely ending. Wine is very expensive compared to other similar restaurants we have visited.
