We loved this place and visited three times in a week long stay!! - so, we were taken aback by the rarity of places for breakfast in Gdansk. There are so many restaurants, many advertising 'breakfast' but yet don't open until 11 or 12. We...were lucky to find this place very close to our hotel (Hilton); not only is it open at 9am (possibly earlier, I didn't check) but the food is really, really good too. The menus are in Polish but the staff are proficient in English and very helpful at translating. We had the full english first visit, which included a hot drink for only an extra 1 zloty, and I was thrilled beyond measure to get an actual pot of real tea! Not a cup of water with a bag on the saucer but a proper big pot!! You need to ask for milk additionally but no problem. Second day I tried the Polish breakfast, it was really good with eggs, sausage, and an amazing home made tart berry jam. I had the polish on our third visit as well, at which time they brought us a pot of the jam to take as a gift; sadly, we had to decline as it was too big for our hand luggage! But what a kind gesture. I really regretted it as the jam was delicious and they also have wonderful home made bread. We never came in the evening but were impressed to see they have regular food themes such as Korean and even Ancient Roman! They also have live music on at nights though we were too old to be enticed by this.
I will say that the decor and name caused us to assume at first that it wouldn't be open mornings - it looks like a rock club with black paint and gothy artwork - and that it wouldn't be our type of place. But this is a book not to be judged by its cover (and of course the decor might appeal to some!). This is a lovely place: elcoming and relaxing, high quality home cooking, friendly and polite staff who remembered us, and opening hours that suit tourists. It's also very cheap - they could put their prices up considerably and still be good value (and still be the only place open for breakfast!). I would heartily recommend this place. Many thanks to all who made our visits so pleasant :)More
