We stopped here for lunch after visiting the Solidarity centre round the corner. It was impressively full of locals at 1230, always a good sign. Inside the decor is sort of modern urban loft style; high ceiling, exposed air vents, etc etc. Not fancy but the background noise of a diverse clientele enjoying themselves makes for a nice atmosphere. The menu is also fairly diverse. There is a great value set lunch for 23PLN, quite a few clearly marked vegetarian options, and the bar is comprehensive - they advertise 150 vodkas, which we didn’t sample. We shared potato pancakes to start - good thing we did, as we would never have got through them individually and the three types of sauce that accompanied them. For main I had the pierogi russkie, simple but very good. Dining Companion had venison, again another enormous portion and described as “tender and delicious”. Service was all good, no frills but efficient. Lunch for two with one starter shared and two bottles of decent wheat beer came to 120ish PLN. Good value, and probably better than city centre places. It’s probably about 10 minutes walk from the old town centre. Perhaps you might think it not worth that much of a walk but it’s easy to get to. And if you are visiting the ECS or staying in any of the budget hotels just opposite then you have a great place to eat nearby.

We arrived one hour early than our reservation, being very hungry, and the kind waitress fixed us up with short time to wait. We really appreciated it. I had the schnitzel, which was fantastic, and my son the chicken breast. But the place is about the drinks too. 150 or so types of Vodka - just awesome! I tried two different potato vodkas, the Luksosowa and the Mlody Zemniak, the first neat and delicious, the second wild roaring hooch. Fantastic stuff. Had Slivovitz with the coffee, holy bananas. Great food, great drinks, and great service. Thanks!

Came here with my two friends and we were very impressed with the diverse offer of food. There are probably cheaper places but the food here reflected the quality. I shared the Shipyard started of 3 appetisers and 3 shots of vodka with one friend and had the prawns as a main course. The starters were quite large in portion size so sharing one suited us and the main was perfect in terms of size. Healthy, meat, meat-free options are available.

Overall our visit was good and I would give our main meals different ratings. Rye sour soup (Żurek) was excellent, with tasty sausage and egg. I'm glad we shared it because it was pretty big. My husband's beef roulade was actually excellent, meat so succulent and it looked almost like veal. He was very happy. On the other hand I had potato pancakes with pulled pork with BBQ sauce. The pork was actually tasty, no issues. The pancakes, on the other hand, were really soggy and full of oil - they were not put on paper towel after frying so tasted like they were soaked in oil. Because of that, they were not crispy which is a bit sad :( I think they had a lot of potential. The sauce wasn't good either, tasted very artificial and I reckon it was one of the cheaper store-bought ones. The service was efficient and quick, no issues here.

Very nice place. A lot of traditional polish dishes. A variety of vegetarian options, also for traditional food. Food is tasty. Pierogi with potatoes and cottage cheese are delicious. So far the best ones from what i have tasted in the city, dough is very tender. I would definitely recommend them. They also have a big selection of beer. Stuff is very nice. The interior is pleasing. This place is suitable also for bigger groups.

If you are a group I don't recommend this place. The food is pleasant enough but not the best think I had while in Gdansk. The waiter was unpleasant and sometimes even rude while talking to us, and since we took a awhile to chose since we are a group of 7 it even got worse, clearly he was very annoyed just by our presence. The space is the only good thing very good, with nice decoration and good music.

I was looking for a Polish cuisine to have a nice, hearty home food lunch, and I wasn't disappointed! I tried a kotlet schabowy — fried pork breaded cutlet — with baked potatoes and stewed cabbage (with bacon!), to which I also ordered some fresh coleslaw and a glass of kompot. The lunch was incredibly filling, and the entirety cost me just 59 PLN. The place was thematically decorated with autumn stuff like pumpkins and whatnot. Also, the signs in the room will make sure that you pay attention to their impressive variety of Polish vodka 😅 The service was very nice. I was seated almost instantly, regularly checked on by the waiters, and was surprised by Polish krówka candies in a basket with my check! The menu's are available in both Polish and English, several tables around me were also waited in English, so feel free to come!

“Swojski Smak” means “traditional (good) food”. Unfortunately, the food was not good (to put it mildly) and traditional were the only names on the menu. The chef has little knowledge of good cuisine and even basics leave much to be desired. Good reviews left by others are another sad example that people in Poland have no idea where to eat and the price is the main factor for them (the restaurant is not the cheapest though). The compote and chicken soup were the only dishes of acceptable quality. Potato dumplings with mushroom sauce tasted horrible; it was a nightmare – no mushroom flavor at all but lots of acidity of unknown origin. The dumplings themselves were too firm (too much flour in the dough). Dumplings with meat (two versions with beef and duck) were bland in taste and the dough was, again, way too firm (too much flour in the dough). Finally, the potato pancakes were disgusting with the same problem as previous dishes – too much flour! If that wasn't enough, we waited over an hour without any explanation. In the end, we all got heartburn. Please, don’t be fooled by favorable reviews and avoid this place! Such spots spoil the market and should disappear from the culinary map of any city.

We booked this restaurant for a meal while visiting the Gdansk Chrsitmas market. The restaurant is in Gdansk old town and is also a bar which features 150 different vodkas giving guests an opportunity to taste various vodkas if you are thinking of returning with some bottles. This includes a tasting tray of 6 vodkas. I guess if you tasted all 150 you wouldn't be able to make a great choice! We had an enormous pork chop and amazing Koldony in broth followed by chicken. It was great value and Martyna, our waiteress, was very knowledgeable with the menu options, as my wife is dairy intolerence. She was lovely to talk to and gave us a great memory of our time in the beautiful old city of Gdansk.

It is very clear this place specialises on vodka. I think they have 500 different ones. I don't like vodka, so can't comment on that - haven't tried any. But the beer on tap (as well as the bottled beer) was great :)! As was the food - we went there as it was recommended to us as a place to try traditional Polish dishes and we weren't disappointed! We had different types of potato thingies (uhh, like tiny pancakes) with meat and they were all SO good :)! I was stuffed.

This place is one of the best restaurants I've been to in Poland. Went here twice with my partner to eat during our trip because we were so pleased with the atmosphere, food and service. When we arrived, the restaurant was quite full, but the waiters were quick to find us a table and took our orders quite quickly. We ate traditional Polish food for the first time, and this set a high standard for us. The food came in large portions and had a very friendly price. The drinks menu consisted of a lot of locally produced brews, which went well with the food we ate. I would absolutely recommend everyone to visit Swojski Smak if you are visiting Gdansk!

Pierogi (Polish dumplings) were great (best we'd tried). Large pierogi with different fillings - delicious, and prices were very reasonable. 2 portions, 5 pierogi each made a proper portion. Not far away from the central station but tucked away from crowded town centre.

Absolutely fabulous restaurant. Me and my dad had a hard time choosing what restaurant to eat at and this looked to have good ratings. We went there and got our food very fast and the taste was magnificent. Our server was soo nice and we loved his humour! Not only was it super good foot but it also didn’t cost a lot at all. We had chosen to go to another restaurant the day after to try the well known pierogi but this restaurant was the absolute best so we decided to just go back there again the next day. Every time we went we chose the smaller meals but be warned even the smaller versions were very big! Super good service and food and I definitely recommend this place! It was so good I even told my friends about it when I came back home! 🤩

This is one of our favourite restaurants when my husband and I visit Gdańsk but today the meal was sensational. I had the chicken noodle soup followed by pierogi made with chanterelle mushrooms. The pierogi were the best I have eaten in Gdańsk. My husband had prawns that were also well seasoned and his meat filled pierogi were really delicious. The service at the restaurant was excellent considering the staff were ‘run off their feet’.

Really enjoyed this restaurant. We would have never gone if we hadn’t looked something up before, as off the main touristy areas. Serves traditional polish food. Would recommend the wild boar! Waiters very friendly and offer great advice if asked! One mistake we made was ordering a fleet thinking it was beer... it was vodka! As nice as it was trying polish vodka, it wasn’t necessarily something we would accompany dinner...! Make sure to ask before ordering!
