About
Excellent Czech cuisine, great atmosphere and best beer in Brno. The famous Stopek’s Beer House has always been one of the pillars of Czech social and cultural life in Brno. There has been a pub here since the second half of the 19th century. It became famous with the arrival of the new owner, the genius Jaroslav Stopka, who took over the original Jonak’s Beer House in 1910. Period advertisements always declared that the best Pilsner beer could be had at Stopka’s. The pub retained its character and atmosphere even after its extensive modernisation. The author of the facade of the beer house is Czech painter and graphic artist Lada Novak (1865 – 1944), a well-know Prague bohemian and also the

Based on reviews we expected good food and we’re not disappointed. We ordered two dishes, both were tasty and were served promptly. We had no problem with the staff, maybe just lucky. Goulash with knedliky was our favorite, reasonably priced and typically tasty.

Even though the food is very good, the service is terrible. I have been a client for several years, and not even the fact that I was a regular costumer made them any different. The waiters are despicable, rude, not professional. I don’t recommend it...at allMore

Staff at our hotel, local bar and market recommended this place as their favourite. It is a big place, traditional front and modern rear . It is similar to a German beer hall. The food is local, basic and the portions are huge. I had...a dish of duck, sausage, pork sauerkraut ad three types of dumplings. Impossible to finish, although I did squeeze down a creme brulee. Beer is a big player here with many types to choose from. This is not the place for a romantic dinner but if you want filling up It' for you.More

Traditionnal czech food not well executed. Big portions, cheap ingredients. Some people are definitely looking for that, but I think in 2020 such restaurant should go forward. The wine by the glass was absolutely undrinkable (I get it that it is primarily a beer place,...but well, in the wine region it wouldn't be impossible to have ONE good wine by the glass). This chain unfortunately never surprises, still the same very average quality whatever the city.More

We had lunch at Stopkova Plzenska Pivnice; the portions are very large, but food could have been better. The beer was ok and so was the service.

I was there with friends for goose and young wine. Unfortunatelly, young wine was not available, but goose was very good. And beer is very good also as there is Plzen. :)

We have experienced a lot of restaurants, but for the first time, portion was too large even for me (and my collegue). Exelent food, exelent beer, fast staff.

Our last dinner in Brno was at the traditional Stopkova Plzenska Pivnice restaurant. The food is great, the portions very large, the prices reasonable. My wife had beef soup (with slabs of beef and thinly sliced potatoes) and I had Kalajda (a delicious traditional sop...made from potatoes, poached egg, dill, etc.). For main courses, she had a quarter duck with red and white sour kraut and potato dumplings and I had a goose drumstick and thigh with similar sides. The beer here is both inexpensive and very good.More

We order a plate but arrived same thing different....we tell on the worker but the answer was sorry I understand incorrect and not changed the plate. Really not professional, my advice is to go somewhere different where the client is more respected.
