About
In 2015 we opened a fully refurbished family restaurant, one of the oldest restaurants in Prague, which still holds it original name – U Mecenase, aka The Maecenas. Come and take a seat under the 16th century vaults. Jan Mydlar, the most famous executioner of Prague, used to sit here in the times of Rudolph II; the wall still bears his signature inscribed in 1626. The original 13th century Lesser Town fortification wall is still visible in the gothic cellars below the restaurant. A non-smoking restaurant with 200 seats in 4 halls, each of them with its specific atmosphere. A smaller private dining room with 25 seats is styled as an Austro-Hungarian imperial salon. Everybody finds their favourite

One of the restaurants in Prague that kept it's name and stayed in the same location. I remember the old restaurant fondly and when they closed up for restoration during one of our visits to Prague, I was disappointed. They did a nice job, and...I am glad that they kept some of the old decor in one of the small rooms. Couple years ago we reserved it for our large family. This time around , my husband and I enjoyed a lovely dinner. Soup , traditional Svickova and Gulas. Panna cotta. Pilsner beer ... In 2017 , we stayed in the apartment in the same building for a last minute extended stay - beautiful suite on the top floor. Till next time, Dekuji a NashledanouMore

Hands-down one of the best pork knuckles I have ever eaten in my life. The home-made Cranberry lemonade was also delicious and refreshing. The food portions are big, the food is fresh and they brought all food to the table at the same time. The...atmosphere is cozy and the rest rooms are clean. The staff was always friendly and polite. So why not 5 stars? Even though I wish I could give the restaurant 5 stars, I believe I am unable to do so as I found 2 long, black hair in my food and because the staff forgot to bring the bread basket which was part of my main course. Had I not requested for the bread basket, I would have had to pay for it without having had the chance to eat it.More

We went as part of our walking tour. I had the lentil salad which was pretty good and my husband had the traditional sirloin and dumplings. He said the dumplings were great but the meat not so much. I think he wishes he had the...schnitzel which looked yummy. Overall, we had a great time.More
