About
We are non-smoking small family restaurant focused mainly on Czech cuisine. All of our meals are made without any glutamate, dyes, condiments and other preservatives. To flavor dishes we use just salt, pepper and fresh herbs.
Permanent menu starts at 3pm every weekday. The lunch menu is available from 11am till 3pm until then, but with very limited offer and especially for local people. Regular menu is then available all weekend plus we do weekend specials.

U Kroka certainly deserves all of the excellent reviews it receives. The menu had a lot of great options. I went for the special which was beef in a creamy traditional sauce with dumplings. It was absolutely amazing in taste and quality plus the beef was cooked medium to perfection. My friend is lactose intolerant so choices were a little limited but she had some sesame fried chicken with vegetables and she was extremely impressed with the quality and seasoning. Prices are reasonable, service was flawless and the beer was great. If you only visit one restaurant in Prague for an outstanding meal, make sure it’s U Kroka!

We went there by recommendation for lunch and it was great! The typical Czech dishes (Gulasch and Duck) were really tasty and absolutely affordable concerning the fine quality (even for students :D ). The staff was nice and the atmosphere in the restaurant very comfortable.
If you visit Prague, you should totally stop by at U Kroka!

I booked this restaurant for myself and my partner wanting an authentic taste of Czech food and we weren't let down! The friendly staff attended to all our needs even describing the dishes. We were given an appetiser and fresh bread which was incredible,
We went for starters and main courses which blew us away with both the flavours and presentation. My partner had Prague hams and I had the sausages as our starters, for main beef cheeks!
Everything was stunning cannot fault this restaurant in any way!
We will definitely be returning when we are next in Prague!

We were eating at this place quite often a couple of years ago but since our offices moved I have not visited this restaurant for a while. We have just decided to give it a try when we were around last week and I must say it has changed there and unfortunately not for the better. Maybe it became more like a tourist trap these days with locals not that welcome. That said, I cant really criticize anything in particular, and our meals were not that bad but also far from being something to remember. If you are looking for Czech food with some decent beer and you do not mind a place that is a bit overpriced and overcrowded, it will probably not dissappoint you, but for us as locals I do not see a reason to come again.

Dear ManaPet,
thank you for your review, however allow me to disagree with being a tourist trap. We welcome locals as well. We can support this with example of our lunch hour being filled with returning locals only. We are open to any suggestions how to become better, but just write it was not bad does not give us any specifics of what we can improve.
Anyway, thank you for taking the time to write your opinion and if you are ever in the area, give us another try, I believe we can change your mind.

We were recommended to U Kroka by our tour guide Pert. We did book a table as advices as very busy restaurant. My partner is vegan however I'm meat eater! He had goat cheese salad which he was very Impressed with, my duck starter was delicious! Mushroom risotto with extra vegetables side was very tasty, for myself I had the pork ribs and OMG they were the best ribs I've ever had. Customer service was top class! First class overall!! Defo recommend anyone who is visiting Prague to go.... it is a must for local Czech food at local cost.!!

Wonderful restaurant tucked in near Vyšehrad! Perfect place to stop for lunch, dinner or just a cold beer in their terrace. The food is excellent, a creative menu that also includes some Czech classics cooked to the highest standards. I was very impressed by not only the flavours but also how the dishes were presented, this is a talented chef who’s clearly proud of what he’s platting up! The service is very friendly yet professional. It’s great to see that the quality of food and service continues to be brilliant under those unprecedented and difficult times. Well done to the whole team for the great work, keep it up! 👍🏻

This place is really attractive, warm and welcoming, serving sumptuous dishes at reasonable prices.
Service was excellent until close to 10pm as we were still eating our last morsel of our main course dish, we started seeing the team literally flying off their feet, placing plants inside, clearing tables and making no attempt to serve coffee or dessert.
This spoilt an otherwise beautiful dinner experience. At 10pm on a Saturday night, the night is still young and such an attitude is uncalled for.
Other than that, food is gloriously good and the dish prices are very reasonable.

Nice restaurant located on the way to Vysehrad castle, so good for before or after the visit.
Waiters immediately sat us to our table (sans reservation for lunch), and gave us the English and Czech menu. Meals consist of traditional Czech items with some nice touches, so there is something for everyone. I ordered the Svickova (braised beef with dumplings), and as you can see from the pic, they dressed it up. The meal itself was good, it had good well cooked potatoes as well as flavorful beef.
Good beer and drinks options. Staff spoke some English and fast service.
Note, on the English receipt it says "Gratuity not included" but nowhere does it says that in Czech!

Delicious food in a lovely little restaurant. We wanted some authentic Czech food and we were so glad we were able to book a table here. The staff were very friendly and efficient, the food was absolutely delicious with huge portions and great value for money. It was busy the first night we tried to visit and no available tables so I’d advise booking ahead as it’s clearly a very popular place, for good reason! The duck with red cabbage and dumplings was my favourite meal I’ve had in a long time!

Was not nice to tourist, served people behind us because they were local even tho we arrived with booking first. No customer service, was very rude. I use to come here a lot but the food has gone so bad and the service is just terrible. I wanted to order the pork knuckle they said they don’t do it anymore and said I should have checked our website before coming..shocking and then I had to send the beef tartar that looked like cat food back and they force me to pay for it even tho I send it back and the manager was very rude about it. Never going back again

It is really an outstanding restaurant. It is just outside the old town, which makes it less targeted by the mass of tourists. It is advised to make a reservation. The menu features some of the typical Czech dishes, but the plating is more refined. You still get a lot of food, and for a really good price! It is the only place in Prague where I could get an entire carafe of sparkling water for the price of a beer…. Beside that, wonderful meal. I had tee se tartare for appetizer and the pork knukle for main course.

The variety and quality of food is really worth the higher pricing. Good organized and well-trained friendly staff as well.
If I would be allowed a suggestion I would change the actual background music from unmeaning unsettled "radio rock+pop style" to something slowly easy listening (bar jazz? classic?) as this also has a great influence on the dining experience.
This restaurant is already loud and bustling enough due to the many guests rightly because of the excellent food as mentioned. Please do think about it as we will definitely return ;-) thank you.

This restaurant has the best menu in town .We tasted up to 7 dishes and all worthed! The place is modern, clean and the dishes are so lovely cooked. the people that worked there are friendly with smile and patience! You can go with tram 17 or 2 or is just 15 minutes walk from the center! Is so cheap and delicious that worth to visit it every day to avoid the bad and expensive food of the center Prague. I will tell to everyone for this restaurant and I hope to knew about this place earlier!perfect!Bravo!

The restaurant is a bit off the beaten path, but worth the extra effort to find it. The atmosphere is casual and the focus is the food and the vibe. It is a place where many people were socializing over a few beers.
The menu was extremely good offering entrees that were truly Czech. It was actually crowded for a Thursday night, so one might consider reservations in advance. Luckily they were able find a table for me. The staff was great. Very attentive.
Started off with a goat cheese for the starter, followed by the rabbit with dumplings and spinach. Both were excellent and highly recommended. I finished the meal with the plum dumpling dessert with an espresso. The wine list was good, so I was able to find a very reasonably priced wine to go with my dinner.
Would highly recommend this restaurant if you want enjoy genuine Czech cuisine where the locals go. It is nice to say that I was probably the only non-Czech person having dinner.

I use to be a regular here and I can’t believe what have happened after Covid, the owner/managers was not friendly with foreigners, they saw us and ignored us and service people behind us because they were Czech Republic.
Then there was a dish we complained and on my god they really didn’t take it well, they took the plate and throw it in the bin and then comes out and tell me you are paying for that. I was going to order another dish but they were so rude to our table we just couldn’t stay there anymore.
When we went to pay the owner actually threw the card machine close to me, I have never been to a restaurant this rude.
