Here conects the smell and taste of Cuban dishes, juicy steaks and fresh fish, Caribbean cocktails, aroma of Cuban cigars, Cuban rhythms, along with a genuine atmosphere of one of Havana's most famous pubs, whose fame already crossed the border of Cuba. • has an unmistakable character of the interior • creates an atmosphere of undying fame of its predecessor from Havana • its interior abounds with many artifacts not only from Cuba, but also from other exotic countries • Bodeguita walls are dotted with a variety of paintings, photographs and signatures of guests • all furniture, two separate bars, including several humidors, it all comes from Colombia • inner part of Bodeguita is divided into several separate spaces • shielded outdoor garden on the sidewalk Kaprova, equipped with retractable awning provides 32 seats • restaurant capacity is 260 guests History & Vision A QUICK GLANCE AT THE SIXTY-YEAR LONG HISTORY OF A HAVANA BUSINESS La Bodeguita Del Medio altEach place in the world has something to pride itself on or at the very least, which sets it apart from everywhere else. The Cuban metropolis Havana is certainly no exception to this rule. That said, you will be hard pushed to find any other venue in the city boasting such a long and rich history and with so many famous guests on its books as La Bodeguita del Medio on central Empedrado Street which truly unites the colonial past with contemporary life. For some reason unbeknown to us, it is said that the Bodeguita stands at a distance of one hundred paving stones from the largest American Baroque building in Cuba, which if tested, unarguably proves to be Havana cathedral. In 1950, La Bodeguita del Medio restaurant (which in Spanish means pub in the middle of the street) first opened its doors at number 27, Empedrado Street. To most of us, this choice of location might appear quite logical, however in fact the preferred "strategic point" for restaurants and bars is that of a street corner. altAs you enter the Bodeguita (in Havana) for the first time, your olfactory senses will revel in the delightful aroma of Cuban mint, while sampling the special herbs apparently does wonders to your digestive system. Thus, these inseparable ingredients became the rudiments of the famous drink we now know as MOJITO, whose current form and taste were developed right here in La Bodeguita. At the back of the Havana Bodeguita restaurant, guests have the chance to try excellent Cuban cuisine, while at the same time sit back and take in the sounds of traditional melodies sung by a Cuban trio.tria. Let us now return to the war-torn years of the twentieth century, looking, in particular at the year 1942, when Angel Martinez Borroto finally gave in to the powers of his entrepreneurial intuition and bought a small shop in the still fortified historical part of the city. Soon after embarking on this business venture, he set about managing and developing his small enterprise, going by the name La Casa Martinez. Shortly afterwards, Felito Ayon, a man of similar character to Martinez, set up his own printing shop nearby. For some time, the establishment had no telephone line and so, customers would occasionally wander over to the Bodeguita to settle business over a glass or two of rum. altAmong the most prominent regulars to frequent the Bodeguita at the time, were the classic Cuban poet Nikolas Guillen and the notable prose writer Alejo Carpentier. Gradually La Bodeguita established an impressive clientele base proving a popular choice for intellectuals, artists and simple Bohemians alike. Indeed, over time, the Bodeguita became a forum for progressive thinking intellectuals (arriving from Latin America as well as the wider word) to meet and discuss. During the first stages of its operation, visitors' indulgent behaviour was confined to the bar. Some time later, however, the guests (usually friends of Martinez) could also sit down to eat. Initially meals were only available to family members and the sparse waiting staff, prepared by Martinez's wife, nicknamed "Armenian girl" (presumably for her dark skin tone). At this time, the main ingredients comprised a combination of black beans and white rice, or as it was more often referred to: Maoris and Christians, or simply "CONGRI". To finish off, guests were served pieces of baked pork, called "Masas de puerco fritas" and either fried banana chips or small banana pancakes, referred to by the locals as "Tostans de platano." Martinez was clearly devoted to satisfying the requests of his most trusted customers and subsequently began serving food, despite the fact that people only paid for the drinks. altIn 1950, the title of Martinez's enterprise was changed indefinitely from La Casa Martinez to the name that regulars had been using for some time: La Bodeguita. This same decade also saw the arrival of a new wave of clientele coming from all over the world, including the likes of the American singer, Nat King Cole, Nobel prize winner for literature Ernest Hemingway, the idols of female beauty Brigitte Bardot and Sophia Loren, the American actor Spencer Tracy, not to mention Errol Flynn, Austin Lara or Mario Moreno. Together with their Cuban intellectual counterparts, these names have attracted a constantly growing number of dedicated visitors. Today La Bodeguita del Medio serves as an unfading reminder to its Bohemian past where guests, whether intellectuals, politicians or passers-by continue to meet and while away the time. As to the colonial building of the Bodeguita, dating back to the end of the 19th century, many visitors believe that the collection of invaluable signatures, memories and photographs preserved on the stonewalls deserve to feature in the Guinness book of records. Let us now move on to the history of the Prague Bodeguita, established on 17th December 2002 - 60 years after the opening of the original Havana restaurant.

Service was just okay, food and drink expensive, ordered some tapas dishes which I know are small but the 3 chicken wings were the tiniest things I’ve ever seen. Cod fritters were nice but on the cold side. Ate & left.

We went to celebrate my husband's birthday, we were a little scared by so many bad reviews but the truth is that I treated very well and the food good. We ordered some empanadas to share and then some sirloin quesadillas that were delicious and to finish a delicious Cuban mojito. To put some but the clothes the next day still smelled pure because at the top of the place smoking is allowed. Otherwise all good.

Only three Cuban dishes. It should be called by another name, anyone who knows Cuban food knows what I'm saying. Only one employee spoke Spanish. All the propaganda in favor of the communist Castro dictatorship.

With memories of amazing meat I had been very excited to hear the girls had picked La Bodeguita for my friends hen party.
As it usually goes with girls night, we had all agreed on the food menu before arriving.
When we arrived we found out that the menu had been changed two days before our arrival and the change wasn’t only about the type of food but also an increase in prices. Basically La Bodeguita changed to a seashell joint.
Maybe I am the only in one who thinks this, as the manager definitely didn’t care (we asked the waitress to call him, but she informed us he will not do anything for us) but if one is planning to change a concept of a restaurant - it would be only fair to inform your guest who already have reservations. Because to no one’s surprise, trying to call a different restaurant on Friday night was absolutely useless as they were full.
Trying to save the situation I ordered a big bucket of strawberry daiquiri. Half of the table picked chicken wings, one girl skipped food all together.. then there was one chicken salad and one tuna tartare.
As soon as we finished the drink we left.
Still hungry obviously.
As an apology we received free tap water..
The next morning when trying to understand this whole situation and why our dinner was ruined we looked over the old menu in the group chat to find out the daiquiri had a 400czk price increase. Just a great joke to finish of the story of our experience..

We visited this restaurant for a dinner on Sunday 24.4. Even though we had a reservation managed few days ago and the restaurant was almost empty, the unfriendly man at the entrance offered us just a table in the middle of the doors. We rejected it and finally, we sat in the corner near the main bar. The interior was stylish and other waiters were helpful. The cocktails are nicely served, tasty, but little bit overpriced. We had two starters and two main courses. The only tasty dish from that was a beef tartar - the rest was simply disaster. Prawns were tasteless, tough with terrible baguette as a side dish. Arroz cubano was just a big portion of red rice mixed with under average seafood with totally carbonized pieces of chicken – the wings were uneatable as well as most of the chicken thighs. If you wish to eat some quesadillas I highly recommend to visit KFC better than La Bodeguita – the price for such a meal is a bad joke.
In general, the restaurant has some charm, for drinks at he night might be okay, but the food was definitely very bellow an average of Prague restaurants. Personally, we expected much more from our visit...

The older Cuban lady, who attended to us when she realized that I and my wife were Cubans treated us dreadfully.
When I asked him if he had cheka beer he tells me, in very bad shape, that if I wanted beer from the country I would go to the corner bar.
However we ordered jugs of beer .To our surprise were "Heineken", not Cuban beer and to close the bad service that lady brought us the count multiplied by two because according to her in the jug had put 2 small beers.
Unfortunately the performance of that waitress reminded me of the treatment of a Cuban state coffee shop.

Very bad place a few centers from the central clock square. A debacle of cea at exaggerated prices: bad cocktails, bad staff too superficial, loud music. Slightly good frayed meat with rice and red beans. The other dishes are embarrassing to say the least. Discreet wine list. Go elsewhere, you won't find Havana in this bad place.

This place has a great vibe with live music and dancers which made it a great night . Wine not cheap but they had some good bottles on offer for the money
We had a good table with great service
The food was really good steak was tender and pork was really tastey
The only thing putting me off recommending it is the toliets were disgusting . All night no toliet roll and not cleaned once actually smelt of wee all night it was gross !!
If not for that really would of ranked it very highly

The atmosphere, the live music and the dance performer were very good. Unfortunately the lady at the entrence who was supposed to seat us was very unfrendly and not costumer oriented. Jung, blond with artificial lips. Please provide her with training on customer service.

Went here to drink cocktails and maybe get some dinner. The bar has a great vibe and atmosphere and enough space.
We got served by Jegor who didn’t seem to happy about. He was quite unfriendly and rushed us in ordering cocktails. First round he gave us the wrong drinks and was frustrated when we sent them back. We wanted to try the house special cocktails the second round, but he said they weren’t good (or maybe he didn’t want to make difficult ones?). We paid 100czk per drink. However, the mojitos that we had tasted fine and we enjoyed some live salsa music.
For dinner one of us tried to order the lobster, but got told he needed to order twice the portion on the menu since they wouldn’t kill a lobster for just one person. The mixed grill for two people had good taste but was small in portion size. Felt more for one person. The cheeseburger was great.
All with all, bad service, okay cocktails, nice atmosphere and music but poor food. Wouldn’t go here again.

The restaurant looked amazing & our waiter was lovely. However! We waited for 30mins for our drink orders to arrive (some arrived), an hour for our food to arrive (yet, lots of orders were missing & some of our party didn't receive their food until we'd all finished). When we voiced our concerns things got worse. We were charged twice for some items & the manager wasn't interested & kept walking off & left his team to deal with the dispute, even though they hadn't dealt with our table. We felt ignored & like we didn't matter. They didn't seem to care we'd been overcharged & reluctantly gave back our deposit for booking the table. This completely ruined our evening. We were celebrating a friends birthday & left feeling robbed.

Vibrant surroundings and quirky decor.
We had pre booked a large party (approx 17). Seated at two long tables.
Drinks served quite quickly and still water carafes replenished several times. Cocktails nice.
Our food order took over an hour to arrive, arriving in dribs and drabs. Several people in our party did not get their food until after others had eaten theirs! One waiting had their side order arrive 10 mins before the main course! Started clearing dishes before people had finished.
Very poor. I declined to pay for my meal.
Please don’t book here if you have a large group as they are not able to manage a booking of this size.
Food average.

I visited this fantastic restaurant 10 years ago the atmosphere and food was amazing .However, this time I was very disappointed. Not only did we wait 1hour for a burger in a non busy restaurant about 10 customers if you were lucky .When the food arrived it was cold . Very disappointed.
